Prototype I could understand as it never being that hugely popular when it came out and with people comparing it to the company's Hulk video games. But Infamous, obscure? The Infamous games were some of the flagship titles in the PS3's library. Both games were up there with the Uncharted series in making the console a system seller. Even though the series hasn't received a new entry since the launch of the PS4, it's still referenced to this day (there are two within God of War Ragnarok). It'll be like calling Sly Cooper and Jax and Daxter obscure.

Yes. Both these games were pretty popular back in the late 2000's due to them being superhero open world sandbox games, both coming out in 2009 . They were always compared together. While they did both run their course in terms of story beyond a shadow of a doubt, it's the electricity powers, the sentient virus powers that still have me going back to play both years later. I think if Sucker Punch and Radical could find a way to continue to use those powers, someway - even if it's just a remake, with extra abilities added and a bit more freedom with said powers - they could easily continue both series. Or at the very least they'd have me there day one. There's very few things as cathartic as just giving a random passerby a casual zap to the face and watching him go down after you get pinged out of the sky by a bullet when you're busy trying to collect a Blast Shard.
Honestly, given the anti-hero climate of stuff nowadays, it would work well. Alot of contemporary social commentary could be made, especially with what Infamous Second Son had and similar with Prototype.

It's funny that you compare Cole to the Avatar because there's another conduit in Infamous Second Son who has the power to obtain other people's powers. The people don't lose their powers, but Delsin (the main character of the game) learns how to use their powers.
To add to that: seen some folks say that the element that Delsin absorbs for his powers is the element that makes Conduits. Hence the reason why he’s the only one to break the machines that use that element and get stronger from absorbing it. Plus the reason why he even gains memories of new abilities that the person he absorbed had to learn over the years. Which is crazy in its own right.

Like folks say he’s like the Second Coming of the Beast in a sense due to him being ability to gain new abilities and unlocking the skills of those abilities with enough energy. Of course gameplay mechanics and lore wise he’s limited to the supply of energy for the powers he’s currently using and has to resupply to continue using the offensive abilities of it. So in a sense his element is Conduits themselves and specifically pure breeds of Conduits since he can only absorb the rock enemies’ rocks once he gets the original rock powers from the main antagonist.
I played these games back in the day. Cole only got ice powers halfway in the 2nd game because of a device in the game that allowed Cole to absorbed some powers from another conduit(basically a person with powers). If you go in the dark path, you get flame powers instead. There was a 3rd Infamous game set years later with a different main character. He's meant to be a power sponge because he ended up getting smoke, neon, video, and concrete powers. Alex going full on villain in the 2nd game was controversial. The 1st game ended with him becoming sort of more heroic and saving NYC from a nuke while being in disgust of real Alex Mercer who tried to kill everyone by unleashing the virus. Then the 2nd game came around and was suddenly a villain. The 2nd game had another guy as the main character to kill Alex. The tie-in comic at least tried to explain why Alex changed but it wasn't explained in the game itself.
Yeah I hated that change in the second game myself. Like Heller was cool but I always wanted there to be some sort of twist reveal that there were actually multiple Alex's. Like after the nuke blast there was another puddle of him somewhere out there that also regrew and that one became the good Alex. my main motivator for wanting this other than wanting to see Alex's the protagonist again was to finally have Alex and Pariah meet since it's heavily hinted in the first game that Pariah would have eventually become a major boss battle given that he's essentially the natural version of what Alex Mercer became artificially
In this battle it really did boil down to Cole's raw power overcoming Alex's regen while also being able to resist the virus. Speed really didn't play much of a factor. And yeah if they chose Evil Cole (the games' Karma system leads to different endings) It would have been an outright stomp, Cole's own immense power, paired with Nix's napalm based powers and enhanced with the Beast's obnoxious list of abilities makes him absolutely terrifying. John (the Beast's name prior to his transformation) gives Cole all of his powers which includes: Telepathy Pyrokinesis Ray field blast Ergokinesis Teleportation Singularity Regeneration Transmutation Shapeshifting Size manipulation Weather manipulation Matter manipulation Gravity manipulation Radiation absorption Radiation manipulation Power amplification Power nullification Power bestowal Power transference They had to choose Good Cole for this fight to be even remotely close.
My wife is now chanting "Bio Leech" at me, since I thought Alex would win. She played InFamous (PlayStation), I played Prototype (PC). I'm not disappointed though. My dream superpowers have always been Electricity and Fire.
The thing that I find to be weird is their insistence that Cole surviving the Ray Sphere's atomic explosion but the Ray Sphere isn't harmful to anyone with the conduit gene because all it does is awaken the dormant conduit's powers at the expense of everyone else's lives.

Plus at the end of the game Kessler himself says he wasn't sure if Cole would survive the blast and even checked his pulse to make sure he's alive. Yeah ever since both inFamous and Prototype released their first two games only two weeks apart people started drawing comparisons and after just beating Prototype 1 I can see why. Even after inFamous and Prototype disappeared in the early to mid 2010’s and these two characters become irrelevant that never mattered as it was still a HIGHLY requested matchup for years. It’s a matchup that was always special and passionate for so many people. And speaking personally I LOVE the inFamous series, I’ve played all the games on PS3 and PS4 I even went ahead and read the inFamous comic in preparation for this Death Battle. And since I played every game Cole in Death Battle has always been a dream for me and after seeing it and watching Cole win I was really happy.

Funny story about infamous, at the end of 2 with the good ending you’d think that All conduits die, then Second Son comes out. You’d think Second Son continues the evil path where conduits are saved and most people died. Nope! The good ending apparently killed most, but not all, conduits instead. So Second Son still happened even after Coles sacrifice.
Infamous 2 is my top 10 best games ever. Of all time. The platforming is great, the combat is awesome and the story is ACTUALLY NOT CRAP. Your choices between good and evil actually matter to the ending, to what missions you could get and what powers you could use. Half as long, twice as bright, mother f'ers. As for Prototype 1, I still play it. It's a great way to blow off some steam. It's like going Rip and Tear before the new Doom came along. Excellent platforming, great fluid combat, and there's a story too I think. Didn't pay much attention, too busy ripping heads off at mach 1.
the Karmic Overload was mentioned and explained in Cole's analysis long before he used it and the Bio-Leech to win the animation, so i'm not sure why the kill would be considered a spoiler lol still looking forward to the day you get one right for actual right reasons haha, it's still fun to watch, the streak of that is just so long that i feel like it'll be cause for celebration once we get there

The big takeaway is that Frieza should stomp, but if they use a specific version of Megatron, the IDW version then Megatron would stomp. Yeah these are literally two of the greatest superhero style open world games before that was even popular. They're both very badass games and will loved. You just don't hear about him anymore because the last entry in both of them were over 10 years ago. They kind of just did their story and then that was that. What just sad because for me especially prototype which is the game with Alex Mercer in it was amazingly fun at higher levels.
Ignoring raw power scaling, Mercer mostly fought soldiers, and lesser viral mutants with less intelligence and strength. The one time Mercer made someone his equal was Heller, and that ended with him dying. Cole mostly fought other superhumans with far more varied superpowers. Cryokinesis, Pyrokinesis, Telekinesis, Mutagenic Control, etc. Kessler is an older, stronger, more experienced version of him. Conduits are also naturally resistant to their own powers. Cole won. Then The Beast shows up, and levels a city with a wave of its hand. Cole beat it. Also, these two games have always had a rivalry, due to journalism. Their gameplay is unmatched, fondly remembered for setting the standard for superhero sandboxes. PROTOTYPE and PROTOTYPE 2 are both unmatched in terms of sandbox cruelty.
In fairness to Heller killing Alex, it's very heavily implied Alex let him win. Hell, if I recall Alex literally gave him advice on how to kill him and canonically never used the fullest of his abilities against people that could replace him at the "top of the food chain". He wanted someone to be stronger than him to validate his "survival of the fittest" beliefs.

Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons, not Starscream. Starscream is Megatron's 2nd in command who tries to backstabbed his leader every other day and despite the numerous failed attempts, Megatron for some reason still keeps him in his army. Also, it's not that Transformers is a show, it's shows with an S. There like over 15 different series of Transformers over the years and they reboot the series every three to five years. Death Battle is using Megatron from the original cartoon and the G1 comics from IDW and not Megatron from the other 14 different series since Generation 1 is the most famous and well known incarnation of Transformers.
I've got a feeling that one way or another, the next fight is going to be a stomp one way or another. Probably in Freeza's favor, but G1 Megatron is from an 80s cartoon, so the scales might be tipped. Even if it is a stomp, I can definitely see an fun fight with some good banter.

You should absolutely play [Prototype]. A horror game where YOU are the horror. It is a power fantasy and a good way to destress by rampaging through endless hordes as a higher evolved being. Don't play the first game on PC. It's broken and requires more precautions and programs in a step by step guide than a nuclear reactor to get working. Xbox Bundle of both games is the recommended choice.

TH-camr IcyCaress did a stream replaying Prototype 1 where in the first 10 minutes he explains everything he needed to do to get it to run. Mods to up the fps and had to run the game on a specific driver slot and temporarily shut down all other programs when the game booted up. It's absurd. Xbox all the way.
I have to be honest with you about the battle, it seems to be a nostalgia battle to see a Teenage level game v a Mature level game with two of the powerful characters that PlayStation had to provide to all superher/Villain fans out there. While there was some comics that take place during the time between their first game and second game. So it was crazy during early PS3 era of gaming to witness those two characters never had a death battle till now. 😄 Also you ask about Movies on the games, funny thing is that there was supposed to been movies based on them but got scrapped because of lacking sources and production. So the best way to get movies are watching Gameplay Cutscenes and understand the story. As well trying to play the games on old consoles like PS3 to give it a shot. Or if you like to try out Remastered for Prototype series on for PS4 version/XBox series X.

I still feel like the speed feat wasn't true, I've played both prototype and infamous enough to know, Alex can run across the entire city on foot in at least a minute, whilst Cole could only achieve that speed by riding on electric wires to speed grind, physical speed (Alex) vs situational speed(Cole) I'd say the physical matters more since it can be used at all times rather than situational that can only be used in specific situations
They were comparing reaction/processing speed. Cole could react to lightning that reached 90% speed of light. Alex could process information at 60% speed of light. They didn’t really talk about movement/traversal speed.

So, when I was watching this, I actually went for Alex because of the whole, "Infection" thing and after looking at the Comments Section of the actual Video, I found out that other people thought Alex was going to win and thought they were going to mourn Cole, but they were all glad it didn't go that way.
General fanbase assumed that it was a stomp for Alex since the inception of the matchup, but the serious VS Battle community (and most prediction videos) pretty much nailed what the Death Battle said. Everyone there knew Cole would win.
But it is when there is a big difference in speed. Cole has lightning-fast attacks and is able to react at that same speed. He is simply faster than Mercer and by far, Alex could only block

Actually it been stated Alex gain a resistance after that fight and by Prototype 2 has a resistance. However it doesn't matter. Cole has been seen several times bypass people's resistance to electricity.

Yeah I hated that change in the second game myself. Like Heller was cool but I always wanted there to be some sort of twist reveal that there were actually multiple Alex's. Like after the nuke blast there was another puddle of him somewhere out there that also regrew and that one became the good Alex. my main motivator for wanting this other than wanting to see Alex's the protagonist again was to finally have Alex and Pariah meet since it's heavily hinted in the first game that Pariah would have eventually become a major boss battle given that he's essentially the natural version of what Alex Mercer became artificially
In this battle it really did boil down to Cole's raw power overcoming Alex's regen while also being able to resist the virus. Speed really didn't play much of a factor. And yeah if they chose Evil Cole (the games' Karma system leads to different endings) It would have been an outright stomp, Cole's own immense power, paired with Nix's napalm based powers and enhanced with the Beast's obnoxious list of abilities makes him absolutely terrifying. John (the Beast's name prior to his transformation) gives Cole all of his powers which includes:

The thing that I find to be weird is their insistence that Cole surviving the Ray Sphere's atomic explosion but the Ray Sphere isn't harmful to anyone with the conduit gene because all it does is awaken the dormant conduit's powers at the expense of everyone else's lives.

Plus at the end of the game Kessler himself says he wasn't sure if Cole would survive the blast and even checked his pulse to make sure he's alive. So while it's made to produce conduits, the chances of it happening is still really dangerous and they could still die if they aren't durable enough

Since both Infamous and Prototype came out in the same year(2009), similar story concepts, and both are sandbox games. Overall, I agree with the outcome for the most part. It was a very cool fight, and I'm extremely happy for the fans of both franchises to finally get their desired matchup realized into a DB... Still wished Kratos vs. Asura won, but who knows, with that matchup being the runner-up for the 3d poll, and how split everyone is on who would win. Maybe it'll happen next season or eventually
Also, Devilartemis didn't animate this one, but he is animating Frieza vs. Megatron which will be his first Blender animation for Death Battle which I'm certainly excited for. Heard the outcome is very dependent on which version of Megatron they use, but I'm just excited to see the fight no matter who wins. Cole MacGrath and the inFAMOUS games were my jam back on the ps3 and i'm so glad they went with "good" Cole and not "evil" Cole for this. it coulda ended up an edgelord vs edgelord fight but instead they actually have clashing ideolagies.

Yeah ever since both inFamous and Prototype released their first two games only two weeks apart people started drawing comparisons and after just beating Prototype 1 I can see why. Even after inFamous and Prototype disappeared in the early to mid 2010’s and these two characters become irrelevant that never mattered as it was still a HIGHLY requested matchup for years. It’s a matchup that was always special and passionate for so many people. And speaking personally I LOVE the inFamous series, I’ve played all the games on PS3 and PS4 I even went ahead and read the inFamous comic in preparation for this Death Battle. And since I played every game Cole in Death Battle has always been a dream for me and after seeing it and watching Cole win I was really happy.

You’d think Second Son continues the evil path where conduits are saved and most people died. Nope! The good ending apparently killed most, but not all, conduits instead. So Second Son still happened even after Coles sacrifice.

Infamous 2 is my top 10 best games ever. Of all time. The platforming is great, the combat is awesome and the story is ACTUALLY NOT CRAP. Your choices between good and evil actually matter to the ending, to what missions you could get and what powers you could use. Half as long, twice as bright, mother f'ers.
As for Prototype 1, I still play it. It's a great way to blow off some steam. It's like going Rip and Tear before the new Doom came along. Excellent platforming, great fluid combat, and there's a story too I think. Didn't pay much attention, too busy ripping heads off at mach 1.
the Karmic Overload was mentioned and explained in Cole's analysis long before he used it and the Bio-Leech to win the animation, so i'm not sure why the kill would be considered a spoiler lol
still looking forward to the day you get one right for actual right reasons haha, it's still fun to watch, the streak of that is just so long that i feel like it'll be cause for celebration once we get there

Ever since it was announced, it's been a very mixed bag of reactions. The big takeaway is that Frieza should stomp, but if they use a specific version of Megatron, the IDW version then Megatron would stomp. I don't know if how strong manga Frieza is now plays any factor in the latter point. But I'm still excited for it, not just it's a Dragon Ball DB, but that Devilartemis is animating it

Yeah these are literally two of the greatest superhero style open world games before that was even popular. They're both very badass games and will loved. You just don't hear about him anymore because the last entry in both of them were over 10 years ago. They kind of just did their story and then that was that. What just sad because for me especially prototype which is the game with Alex Mercer in it was amazingly fun at higher levels.
Ignoring raw power scaling, Mercer mostly fought soldiers, and lesser viral mutants with less intelligence and strength.
The one time Mercer made someone his equal was Heller, and that ended with him dying.
Cole mostly fought other superhumans with far more varied superpowers. Cryokinesis, Pyrokinesis, Telekinesis, Mutagenic Control, etc.
Kessler is an older, stronger, more experienced version of him. Conduits are also naturally resistant to their own powers. Cole won.
Then The Beast shows up, and levels a city with a wave of its hand. Cole beat it.
Also, these two games have always had a rivalry, due to journalism.
Their gameplay is unmatched, fondly remembered for setting the standard for superhero sandboxes. PROTOTYPE and PROTOTYPE 2 are both unmatched in terms of sandbox cruelty.
In fairness to Heller killing Alex, it's very heavily implied Alex let him win. Hell, if I recall Alex literally gave him advice on how to kill him and canonically never used the fullest of his abilities against people that could replace him at the "top of the food chain". He wanted someone to be stronger than him to validate his "survival of the fittest" beliefs.

Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons, not Starscream. Starscream is Megatron's 2nd in command who tries to backstabbed his leader every other day and despite the numerous failed attempts, Megatron for some reason still keeps him in his army.
Also, it's not that Transformers is a show, it's shows with an S. There like over 15 different series of Transformers over the years and they reboot the series every three to five years. Death Battle is using Megatron from the original cartoon and the G1 comics from IDW and not Megatron from the other 14 different series since Generation 1 is the most famous and well known incarnation of Transformers.
I've got a feeling that one way or another, the next fight is going to be a stomp one way or another. Probably in Freeza's favor, but G1 Megatron is from an 80s cartoon, so the scales might be tipped. Even if it is a stomp, I can definitely see an fun fight with some good banter.

Freeza wins... like I'm a transformers fan but Megs never blew up a god damn planet with just his own personal firepower. You should absolutely play [Prototype]. A horror game where YOU are the horror. It is a power fantasy and a good way to destress by rampaging through endless hordes as a higher evolved being.
Don't play the first game on PC. It's broken and requires more precautions and programs in a step by step guide than a nuclear reactor to get working. Xbox Bundle of both games is the recommended choice.

@@theduckgoesmoo I think it was a patch that screwed things up. And since the developers were bought and shut down it hasn't been fixed. TH-camr IcyCaress did a stream replaying Prototype 1 where in the first 10 minutes he explains everything he needed to do to get it to run. Mods to up the fps and had to run the game on a specific driver slot and temporarily shut down all other programs when the game booted up. It's absurd. Xbox all the way.

I have to be honest with you about the battle, it seems to be a nostalgia battle to see a Teenage level game v a Mature level game with two of the powerful characters that PlayStation had to provide to all superher/Villain fans out there. While there was some comics that take place during the time between their first game and second game. So it was crazy during early PS3 era of gaming to witness those two characters never had a death battle till now. 😄 Also you ask about Movies on the games, funny thing is that there was supposed to been movies based on them but got scrapped because of lacking sources and production. So the best way to get movies are watching Gameplay Cutscenes and understand the story. As well trying to play the games on old consoles like PS3 to give it a shot. Or if you like to try out Remastered for Prototype series on for PS4 version/XBox series X.

Infamous is a pretty fun game and I've beaten the second one multiple times. Though never played the prototype games.

I still feel like the speed feat wasn't true, I've played both prototype and infamous enough to know, Alex can run across the entire city on foot in at least a minute, whilst Cole could only achieve that speed by riding on electric wires to speed grind, physical speed (Alex) vs situational speed(Cole) I'd say the physical matters more since it can be used at all times rather than situational that can only be used in specific situations

Cole could react to lightning that reached 90% speed of light.
Alex could process information at 60% speed of light.
They didn’t really talk about movement/traversal speed.

So, when I was watching this, I actually went for Alex because of the whole, "Infection" thing and after looking at the Comments Section of the actual Video, I found out that other people thought Alex was going to win and thought they were going to mourn Cole, but they were all glad it didn't go that way.
General fanbase assumed that it was a stomp for Alex since the inception of the matchup, but the serious VS Battle community (and most prediction videos) pretty much nailed what the Death Battle said. Everyone there knew Cole would win.

No, Alex isn't immune to electricity. That is his actual weakness. A guy with a literal _cattle prod_ was able to keep Alex at bay.

Actually it been stated Alex gain a resistance after that fight and by Prototype 2 has a resistance. However it doesn't matter. Cole has been seen several times bypass people's resistance to electricity.
