The A7Cii has better video specs too. I shoot both the A7RV & A7Cii (I sold my ZV-E1 and just got the Pocket 3). I'm thinking of selling my A7RV too. I bought the A7Cii for travel/video/backup. I'm thinking the A7V might be the one to get later this year.
I bought the a6700 and was blown away by it compared to my last APS-C model the a6500. It actually is a better camera ergonomically than my a7C and has a better grip than the a7Cii. I just love using it and have been rediscovering all my old, neglected APS-C lenses!
It actually very logical and more common than you would think. I know of many people that sell their old cameras and used the funds to buy the new model, given that cameras are so fungible and lose their value with new models release. That being said, there’s one area where the original A7c shine over the A7c2… battery life!
I own even the original a7c and I'm in love with it to this day along with the silver design in the top. The best part is the size and weight for portability. Highly recommend a7c for a perfect middle ground of photo and video
Yeah the A7cii especially the Silver one has been a joy to use. I carry it everywhere and its size and versatility is great. I still have the A7RV which I use for more robust project where I want the better EVF, screen and need redundancy. Plus it handles better with some of the large zooms.
Do you mind sharing your A7Cii setup for photography and videography? 😅There aren't a lot of video guide for A7Cii setup. I'm currently playing around with my setup to see what works best. It would be nice to see your setup 😁.
Thank you for the video. For two camera setup for travel I went with a A7CII + A7CR because I really only shoot stills and need a true backup. My bigger full size full frame cameras are the A1 + A7RV but those are getting left at home more and more. So far so good. We will see. Take care Update: took delivery of the new Sony FE 24-50/2.8 G and very happy with its smaller size to keep my bag and my cameras lighter. Planning to also get the FE 16-25/2.8 G but right now have the zoom on one body and take a couple of small primes for the other body like my Batis 85/1.5 or 40/2.5 G. All fits easily in my Shimoda Urban Explorer 25L similar in size to camera bag you were using. Take care.
I have the A6700 and im considering the A7CR as an upgrade path. All my APSC glass will work on the A7CR in crop mode, and I will still get 26MP! Then I can start upgrading to FE glass. When I want to go light, I just bring some APSC glass like the Sigma 18-50 and still get 26MP.
You reminded me about an art gallery I went to shoot. The lady at the entrance stopped me and said, big camera, not allowed. I told here it's the smallest camera you can get. She pointed at the lens and said, big lens, not allowed. 😁
So did I. I've been an amateur photographer for 45 years. These days light and compact are two qualities I value most. About a year ago I bought two A7RV cameras and they've been my main cameras since then. But, lately, they've started to feel heavy. So I decided to try an A7CII. I liked it so much that I also bought an A7CR. And I sold the rest of my Sony bodies. Kind of funny since I had no interest in the original A7C at all.
Got the A6500 back in the day because of your videos (yes, OG sub right here!), and today I just traded in my A7IV for A7CII! Loving the small footprint....makes me excited to go out and shoot stuff.....and isn't that the point of getting a new camera? :)

No I don’t miss it at all! Also, my A7RV screen was starting to get loose. I guess that 4-axis screen needs some reinforcement. Also, low light on the A7CII is better than the A7RV 😉
