    I agree about how exciting it is to see these small bootmakers emerge and see them grow and gain experience in design and construction. The boot community itself is amazing and I also find it exciting how a new boot enthusiast appears on social media and you can see their journey as their collection expands!

    First created in what was then Czechoslovakia as military footwear, the Monkey Boot found its way to London’s East End and became a cult classic amongst skinheads and other subcultures.

    Been following them on Instagram for a while. Definitely considering ordering one day. I like the waxed bullhide and I like monkey boots.
    Having done roofing in the past, no roofer I know would spend over $200 on work boots even though it might be advantageous financially. They would definitely pay over that for reptilian cowboy boots. No judgement, just my experience.

      Sounds like one I can definitely validate!!!

    Portage is a name of a town in Wisconsin. Thorogood boots are based in Wisconsin and the made several limited issue boots and named them after different towns in Wisconsin. Just aside note The bull hide boots are awesome looking.

    Iron boots is one of my favorite brand at the moment.
    The construction is one of the cleanest with really good clicking on the leathers.
    They're lighter weight and much more comfortable as an office worker. Their lasts also have a tight waist and a small heel.

      @thesheepthemightythecrazy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      by tight waist, do you mean the area between the ball of the fore foot and the heel? Cause that would sell me this brand. I can wear leather shoes because they are that style, while most boot brands don't unless I do a full MTO. A good pair of shoes would lock my foot in = no slipping inside the shoes = also acts as arch support(example, allen edmonds shoes)

      @@thesheepthemightythecrazy Exactly. Only thing I have that is similar is a viberg 2020. Iron boots is also coming out with a new last that should have more arch support from the last instead of a piece of leather on insole.

    Think I might need those chunky pitmans in black waxed bullhide… I can’t tell if it’s just the waxed effect or a burnishing but whatever they do to that leather is gorgeous

    I have a pair of 8D Thorogood monkey boots. A.k.a. the roofer. They are an almost brand-new condition. I wore them once to break in but a little too tight. If yours are a size 8 1/2 D I would be willing to make a trade. What’s the best place I can reach you at.

      Ah man thanks for the offer! You can DM me on Instagram at aerosurferlv but actually I’m happy with how these fit in 8.5D! Was just doing a sizing comparison between the 2

    I have these boots, and they are/were gorgeous. Word to the wise, though...if you wear these while actually doing some roofing, expect them to get destroyed. Ask me how I know.

      @@DalesLeatherworks Thank you for your reply. My point is that I would rather buy a boot made in the USA. If you were offended then that is on you. Btw, if you did serve in the military then I thank you for your service.
