I have only ever seen ONE Jellycat since going to boot sales and charity shops. That was in a charity shop which wasn't even open! You seem to find them every week.
You gotta keep the videos up. Think about how I will spend my down time if you don't! (Yes, it is all about me!). Also, you sir are a natural in frount of the camera...
Refreshingly honest Ian, and it's true that this pastime we partake in is getting more difficult in terms of sourcing and indeed profiting with everything going on. As an escape from your full time job it's ideal, and if you can make a bit of money whilst you do it then that's a definite bonus. But as something that you would otherwise depend on to fill the "non-working" day's pay, it's far too unpredictable, particularly given the time and effort spent looking for stuff. Some days may yield some excellent returns, but otherwise leave you wondering why you bother. I'd say it's nigh on impossible these days to make a full time living from this, just by sourcing from charity shops.
I went down to Sully Carboot on Sunday and wow was it busy. I thought you would have been there, thoroughly enjoyed, great atmosphere and the sun stayed out. Well done Ian, really enjoy your videos.
Hard work doing it part time like you say. I’ve been in a big slump for the last month but I made myself list something everyday this week and the sales have started again Now I just gotta get out there more, we just gotta keep grinding Ian
I'm a stay at home parent and do some reselling as a hobby. For me charity shops hunting is taking time for myself. More than often I don't come back with very much.
Exactly what they used to be for me and the jellycat Guy... spending time together. Now he's at school, I'm effectively going round to make money... and that's not really happening
Love your channel. Managed to pick up a Chococat BAB recently for £2 in a Charity Shop thanks to you, my best ever find. I remembered you saying in a video that some of the BAB have value so looked it up in the shop.
You are spot on about the time spent searching and money earned. I normally source if ive got a spare 1/2 hour when im out in the van for work which works fine for me. Park on a loading bay, no parking tickets to worry about 😅. Ive always enjoyed the hunt anyway, so a 60 mile round trip on a sunday morning to a boot sale sometimes isnt worth it. Thats a bit dis heartening for me, especially when i could have had a lie in. But if you dont go, you wont know.
I know our situations differ, but I won’t take time out of work to go to charity shops. I’ll visit them on my days in the office, and like you, it can be therapeutic to potter around lost in your own thought. I’ll find the odd gem, but nothing consistently so will only visit the gem at my convenience. I can imagine disappointment drives buying things that aren’t brilliant because you don’t want to come away empty handed. Just glad neither of us does this full time as I fear it would suck the fun out of it.
It would definitely suck the fun out of it and imagine you'd start to resent it. I cannot see how anyone can make a fulltime living out of charity shops. There's just not enough in it
I had the same issue with a full Football kit, funnily enough it was a Liverpool one too but an adult one. They took my listing down but I changed things a little and just said full kit worn once without mentioning socks at all and it sold.
Mate, you're absolutely smashing it but you also have to enjoy the grind. There's good days and bad but I would just suggest that you re-asses things and go at it from a different angle. A lot of people love what you do and it inspires others to do the same. Keep up the hustle.
Enjoying the grind is a must and reselling for me has always been more than the money. If it were all about money I'd have packed it in and focused on my full-time job. There are lots of positives about the reselling world
@@MasterofPieces absolutely. I work full time but I sell on the side like yourself. Your videos along with the welsh pokepickers and a couple more have levelled up my reselling and definitely have me enjoying the grind daily.
Love the videos amigo, maybe you could turn it into more content like how to ship some items you buy, storaging items, anything you do to improve the condition of your toy collection 😅
Hey Ian, i know how you feel, mate. I haven't been out sourcing for two weeks as I've decided to get a "proper job" since ebays not bringing in enough with all the bills going up 😢 Missing the hunt though.
Your voice overs in the shops remind me of Neil from Art Attack back in the day, dont know why haha. Maybe he was welsh 🤔 but he always used to whisper when drawing or whatever.
I've got all lee child's books, half of them are signed, there a good read ,but your right charity shops are full of them but if nobody has his books ,there cheap enough
@@MasterofPieces did spent £300 at WH Smith ponty tofsy though 75% closing down sale + got chatting to staff & they gave me discount on top of the 75% opportunities is everywhere, also a £240 spend at my local auction house should return atleast £1250
Not true on the jellycat btw I listed a limited edition stripey one for 399 a year maybe year and a half ago I accepted 300 same night cray money and they do sell
You’re never wasting your time doing something you love bro. Keep her lit!
If I new how to pin a comment, this would be pinned!!

😂😂 there are lots of independent small shops that sell them round here. Guess they get bought as presents and then donated to the charity shops ha
love the honesty
👍

Never heard of it. Just looked it up and that's he'll of a find!!
You are so knowledgeable about toys, board games etc. You should write a guide on what to look out for! Or it could be a good video idea!
The market is constantly changing so a guide would go out of date quickly. Tbh I just recognise brands and go off solds
Nice find on those Sanderson books - I have found a couple, but still looking to complete the set for a good read. Enjoy!
Completely took me by surprise. Completely forgot about them tbh but the covers are very distinctivr

As a hobby you can put in as much time as you want. If it were a job then I guess it needs to become more managed and efficient.

That sticky feel on the Wales jersey, I think that means it's players edition usually worth a bit more, keep up the vids smashing it 💪
I got a few bits the other day but the people in the shop know what’s stuff worth and cream it off for themselves
There's shops round here that do that too
Omg thundercat annual was amazing, that's what I want to collect but can never find the figures
It's untouched... tempted to do the puzzles tho ha. Some of those thundercat figures are crazy expensive!!
@@MasterofPieces I had them all as a kid, I wish they would hurry up and make a film of it.
Hope you enjoyed the Aliens vs Predator graphic novel - I wrote it! Loving the channel!
Good find on the jellycat, one sold for £160 last September
Wow... is it on terrapeak? Not checked yet

Got plenty of ideas for vids :). Lots of how go vids out there already do not sure what I'd add to them tbh
Love the videos, you really are so knowledgeable. 😊
Hi Ian that basketball team is Louisiana State University LSU Shaquille O'Neal went to lsu
Another great video Ian,funny how that hat matched your top
Haha coordinated
Buying that hat was meant to be.
Thanks Ian 😊 enjoyed that as always 👍
Cheers panzer
Ian have you tried going somewhere new also perhaps may try an antique centre they have old games and something I always do and make money

The way the chairty shops are at the minute and the way they're going... sounds like a sensible decision for the right reasons
If it wasn't for the youtube income I'd be doing exactly the same thing. Hard decision to make but sounds a sensible one :)

Love your video m8 l sore a plum jellycat looks like you can get fruit ones as well the plum jellycat was 5 pounds
Yeah there's a range of fruit and veg out there. Very random
I'd sell the Jelly Cats now otherwise you might end up like the Beanie Baby collectors of days gone by !!! Good video again mate!
I've been thinking about this... difference is I'm not buying them brand new so if the prices crash I'm not going to be out of pocket
hope your sons loved the Jellycat-i quite enjoy your videos-i like to see whats up in England.
They absolutely loved it. I'd like to see whats up in England too... im in Wales 😂... where abouts are you from?
@@MasterofPieces hi-sorry-I’m in upstate NY USA. I also follow Resell CNY who are a couple of towns over
Ha tbf it's really close to England. Hello from across the pond :). I'll check out resell CNY
Also Shaq played for LSU, not sure if that was his number though.
Oh sweet. That's a key word in the listing sorted
Great video. I maybe be go to a car boot sale on Sunday
Do it kev!! Hope you find some bargains
Always a knowledgeable video thank you 😊
Thanks lorraine :)
Hey, stop picking on us perv sock sniffers😂 Great vid as always.
😂 some wierdos out there
Love the cap 😍
Ha its very cool!!
LSU is Louisiana State University, big college programme in the US.
Gotchya... just looked it up on ebay and couldn't see any vests on there
5 years on in my reselling journey, still yet to find ONE Jellycat! :(
Keep searching Liam!!

It all depends on the charity shop name i find. Big brand name shops hardly find anything. Little indepentant shops i can fill my boot!
Those little independent ones quickly become known in the local reselling communities. Can't say I've ever filled a car load
Birmingham Selfridges has a jelly cat store inside
Great video BTW
Mistborn is amazing
Smashing through the 2nd book tbf

The past 6 months chart shops have really dipped. Its time to look for something else on a personal level.
I've noticed a dip too. I used to be able to get about £100 worth of profit across the smaller everyday items... now on average its about £50

Just a superficial milestone. Satisfying round number

Civil Engineer... I work 4 days a week with Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday off

Hey
Hey Brian. 2nd today
@MasterofPieces hahhah it froze for a few seconds, charity shops are getting very sparse for opportunities it seems
LSU I think is Louisiana state University
Am I 1st 🙏🏻
3rd today lee
Charity shops are dead for resellers. Fact. Too expensive and the stock is poor
For consistent reliable sourcing agreed. All on luck of finding one off items
Listed don't mean it's worth it doh
Eh!!??
Me me me 😂😂
Jjjeeezzzz Danny... literally seconds 😂😂 first comment #winner 🏆
YESSSS 😂😂😂 seen and thought dare I try, I've got too 🤩
Can't be bothered reading fiction, learn nothing and takes up time
The mistborn books are enjoyable
Its called escapism. Vital reading for many people
LSU - Louisiana State University Tigers. worth doing a bit of reasearch on that one to see when it is from
