Hiya is doing a Mecha G and King G, but from my understanding they will be in their statue line (Mecha G is may get a figure down the line), to save on cost. They have also announced via Twitter that they are making a Godzilla 2014 and....drum roll....MUTOs!!!! These two will be posable figures. I have their Godzilla (SHMA Kong looks better IMO) and he fits in perfectly with my Monsterarts. I have to crunch him a bit, but he fits great (even more accurate) with King Gidorah, though a bit too big for MechaG. He looks great between Godzilla Earth (or Shin) and Ultima if you have all your Godzillas on the same shelf. For some reason, Bandi made their 2019 too small and skinny. In all reality, he should be bigger than 2014 and Shin.
12:21 honestly, that sitting position looks pretty good. I understand that it doesn't provide much in the way of photography, but for either displaying or playing around with him, that posture doesn't look bad at all.
I do think their Godzilla is best of the big 3 (and I have every SHMA figure made to date), with my biggest issue being his neck. Though Hiya is absolutely the most accurate in terms of sculpt. One thing I was not expecting, is the crotch and hips are think/recessed on Hiya, meaning you can get Godzilla in a natural walking pose without him looking wonky. Sadly without that boot/shin-cut, you may have to mod his hind foot to get it firmly on the floor, and his arms are pretty limited. As for his neck, I do love how bulky it is, and that it's not just a sleeve like NECA. My biggest issue is getting him in a roaring up pose....yes you can do it, but once you move to the side, it just breaks up. It will never happen, but I think the best option would be a soft/rubber neck, similar to what Hot Toys does. Yes, it may eventually tear or crease, but theres really no other option. NECA just went cheap, Bandi made the neck skinnier, while getting a more natural look, and Hyia kept the bulk, but limited what you can do. So it's just a hard character to make into a possible figure. As for Kong, SHMA just looks better IMO. Better sculpt, articulation, but misses out on accessories unless you bought the SDCC. Even then you can get SHMA Kong on ebay dirt cheap. But I think this will be the least sought after figure for Hiya, and they might have figured that. Godzilla has been sold out and is going for crazy prices on the aftermarket, and both Mothra and Rodan look amazing. I know they are making Mecha G and King G statuettes. and Godzilla 2014 along with MUTO posable figures(eat that Bandi!), so I hope Hiya continues to make good, decent priced figures, maybe even getting into the classic Toho monsters. I'm just not impressed with anything Super7 has made, and their Godzilla don't look great, thought I'd be lying if I say I didn't like their Destroyah.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone would make the ab crunch and arms work. Hey, customizers are good at that for sure. And I'm still getting him despite he the limitations in articulation if there is way to make it move freely and etc.
The ab joint looks to be a double barbell joint. It’s just REALLY STUCK. I suggest continuing to heat with a hairdryer and firmly but gently try to loosen it.
I feel the only thing he's missing is that decapitated Mechagodzilla head like what Shma did. But I'm sure if you already own that version of the shma Kong, then the Hiya Toys Kong could absolutely use that accessory just as easily.
I wounder if you can find these figures in walmart/target or gamestop that will be cool to just go their and seeing hiya godzilla figures and kong figures
I honestly think that this is the Best Monsterverse Kong figure. There are a few things that I like this more than the Sh Monsterarts is the painting and sculpting, while the articulation could be better but I don't mind because at least it can do some great poses and is MUCH cheaper than Sh Monsterarts. Sure Hiya Toys Kong is a bit pricey but at least it's not $80. Thanks for the Toy Review.
Hey brother, Dope review!!!!! u never fail to deliver 😎😎. I think the ab crunch on your figure is defective. I’ve seen other reviews, and those Hiya Kongs have ab crunches. I’d get a replacement, my friend.
You got to really hit that waist joint with heat, it seems in your situation that during the factory they tried tightening the joint up with some glue but they put to much and now it’s stuck, I mean the best thing you could do is hit it with a hair dryer, and if you get the joint unstuck it should make the articulation a whole lot better
Wow, Hiya Kong looks four times better than the SHMA figure due to the brittle plastic materials. Unfortunately, the Hiya figures doesn’t appear in American stores.
I can,if you press the head itself against the pieces and move them to accommodate,it all covers up well, basically move the joint as if it's one whole segment working together
Well since the Hiya Kong and Goji are bigger than the SHMA versions, I suppose their Rodan and Mothra will also be bigger than the same character SHMAs.
Yes....Mothra is around 12", while Rodan is..15 or 16". Which is a lot bigger than SHMA, but oddly enough, movie wise will fit in pretty close to SHMA King Gidorah, as he is a bit bigger than he should be compared to the rest. I'm just stoked on how Rodan looks. I do wish Hiya had Mothra's wings not flat. While not accurate paint wise, I love how Bandi made Mothra's wings look organic and thin, like a real moth. NECA, for all it's issues, had nice translucent wings, making them look more realistic.
sculpt-to-articulation is a typical issue, unless the company really spends time in the engineering, which cost more money. I feel most figures these days are more sculpt than articulation, as I have only a handful of figures that I am satisfied with articulation, while there have so many pre-orders that I have passed on simply because the figure looks limited in articulation. I have a few monsterart kongs, and was thinking of getting this one, but the articulation does not make it seem worth for me to have a fourth kong. 1 kong is mean to be kong, the other 2005 King kong with a custom head, paint, and sculpting, and the last was just suppose to be a gorilla figure with a more realistic gorilla head. Every once in awhile a company makes figure with good sculpt and exceptional articulation, and it has mostly been with third party figures, which are hit or miss. Larger, licensed companies tend to offer limited articulation with good sculpt. In my opinion, if you don't care about articulation and do care about sculpt, than statues are a better option.
I'm on the fence with this guy. I for sure want Godzilla,Rodan, and Mothra, but kongs a little mid. I would might rather get the event exclusive since it's better than base shma Kong,WAY more accessories and better in all so I mabye will get both
I really just dont like the look of this one. I dont know whether it is because he looks too lanky or because the roaring face looks off to me, but I think I'll pass on this guy and just stick with the SHMA figure. Still very happy with the Hiya Godzilla, but the Kong is gonna be a skip.
If Kong and Godzilla in Hiya Toys looks so accurate, then imagine Mechagodzilla!, NICE review bro.
it will put the s.h monsterarts to shame

I’d have to have it in hand to see but I think there will probably be a way to mod him and make the articulation better
Is there any way to mod it yet? I can't find it anywhere it's infuriating
The way that the ab joint is. Is exactly like Mcfarlane dc figures. It’s easy to dig out a line for the ball peg to help increase ab articulation.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone would make the ab crunch and arms work. Hey, customizers are good at that for sure. And I'm still getting him despite he the limitations in articulation if there is way to make it move freely and etc.
I just really wished there was a decent King Kong figure like this that was big. I want one to scale with the Hammond Collection T-Rex, Bubs.
The ab joint looks to be a double barbell joint. It’s just REALLY STUCK. I suggest continuing to heat with a hairdryer and firmly but gently try to loosen it.
I really hope Hiya Toys Rodan & Mothra would be bigger than their S.H.M.A. & NECA counterparts, just like Hiya Godzilla & Kong.

Hiya the best
Hey what did you do to your hiya Godzilla mouth? Can u post pictures ?
Hiya’s version definitely looks better in my opinion and you can’t see any gaps when articulating him as you do with monsterarts - great review 👍
I have looked at another review and he can do a crunch, so maybe you have a defect one maybe?

You should do stop motion videos 😉
18:27 Now this is what it’s all about.
GREAT REVIEW !!! Can you make video which is better SHMA (S.H.Monsterarts) OR HT (Hiya toys)
Wow, Hiya Kong looks four times better than the SHMA figure due to the brittle plastic materials. Unfortunately, the Hiya figures doesn’t appear in American stores.
The kong, but sadly the articulation is very limited
Bigbadtoystore,you're welcome
Did you paint the mouth on Godzilla ?
where did you buy this from?
May I ask if you know of a way to close the huge neck gaps on the Hiya Godzilla?
th-cam.com/video/uvcGXfnLuNI/w-d-xo.html
I can,if you press the head itself against the pieces and move them to accommodate,it all covers up well, basically move the joint as if it's one whole segment working together
What a shame,Godzilla is fucking damn near flawless and perfect,Kong didn't get the same treatment
To be fair, it turns out that my figure is defective and it can do an crunch
Yours just have qc issuie i think lol mine ab joint works just fine
You have a defect one. The cut at the chest is supposed to be able to crunch. Just watched another review and his crunched perfectly
I know. Thanks. I got another Kong figure coming. Take care

Oh hiya is much larger
Besides the articulation, Hiya did a fantastic job with the sculpt and accessories, really puts the monsterarts to shame.
It's sad how Hiya can make the figures look good but they always mess up on articulation choices
Godzilla's articulation is pretty damn good,it basically puts Neca and sh monsterarts in a blender

Ab crunch wise I really wish that this figure specifically was defected and that they aren't all like this.
It looks like it is made by NECA
Sh mosnterarts should feel ashamed
just like neca naaaah
I hate that Kong has ears lol it looks so awkward (ik SHMA Kong also has them)
