Have you not tried the CD trick Nick to get a sealed disc back in place? You hold it vertically and move it around (like an egg on a pan) till you feel it rest on the spindle. You then place it carefully on a hard flat floor and measure about an inch diagonally down from the center and place you thumb there. Now give it a hard firm push down and with a bit of luck and practice you can get the disc back in place. This is a lot easier with thinner cases. Practice on an open DVD first.

I had the red label unrated version of "The Erotic Misadventures of the Invisible Man" which sold for $70. If there's a single disc loose you can often re-seat it without opening by getting the disc over the hub and pressing down on the cover with your thumbs. Works especially well on ECO cases.

    I've just purchased 20 boxes of 85 Sealed Dvds £5 a box.
Sold 30 in 3 days on average £4 a dvd. Easy to pack. Easy profit.
Easy list. Sometimes when u have a growing business a nice simple slip in a jiffy bag and post is a nice little bonus from packing larger more expensive items everyday

I started looking at dvds and cds when another reseller showed that they were getting decent trade in to CEX. I was given access to a charity shop warehouse and went through around 1200 dvds and bought 200 of them including many boxsets. They worked out as roughly 10-50p each. I've gone back more and also pick up bulk deals on dvds from other charity shops. So far I've spent around £80-100 but have made back over £1k in cex trade in or ebay sales with around another £500 still left in dvds listed. I've sold multiple dvds I've paid 10p for, for £40-50. The best cd so far was an obscure heavy metal album I paid 50p for, for £40.
Unfortunately many charity shops are no longer accepting dvd donations. It also takes a long time to go through and scan lots of dvds and cds, but it's been worth it for how easy it is to package and post compared to the vintage audio that I tend to focus on.

The market for DVD's bottomed out several years ago I used to easily boot them for £1 each .Then Netflix came along and that was the death knell. For awhile you could still get 50p but now it's 10p-20p.I refuse to pay online prices and only buy them myself if they are Rock music or related.

Enjoyed the video, we get those comments too about lower value media. We often buy in bulk too, selling the low value fodder items that take 1 minute to list. We’ll take that hourly rate all day long, and that’s often after you’ve made gazillions p/h on the gems! 👍

eBay is saturated with hundreds of DVD reseller's, selling at rock bottom prices, the average Joe just can't compete, you'd be extremely lucky to make £5 profit after fee's and postage
I have seen people boasting about making £2.50 profit, embarrassing

as you know Nic, me and you love media
I have a full shelf of DVDs, Blu-rays & games, once a couple sell it then owes you nothing
they are so quick to list and post, and also enjoy getting them as well
as you know I bought a massive bundle of 104 the other day and it was paid for once the 10th one sold
it also helps with ebays algorithm as it generates traffic to your store

Some dvds can go more for others. But it can be a pain to go through a whole shelf full and check them against current prices to find the gems. Some good indicators of dvds that are worth checking though are black and white movies that you may not have heard of. Stuff like casablanca for example are constantly re released so early copies are pittance. But I picked up something called "m" I think. It was for a quid that was an old movie by the same director who directed the original metropolis and that fetches a resonable resale. Same for a bluray called the maggie I picked up again the director was also responsible for whiskey galore (a movie I have heard of) which makes it desirable and probbaly limited print run. Box sets are usually where the real money is though as I grabbed a boxset of William hartnal doctor who dvds and got. A very decent trade in at cex for my 3 quid outlay. Even better for a quid less was maid marian and her merry men complete boxset that sells for even more. Music dvds are also worth a quick price check as well as iv had good luck with ozzy ozbourne' zz top etc and even a David Bowie that went to my father I could have traded in for profit. A decent whack of what I pick up is for personal use (maid marian for example was kept for childhood nostalgia) also sonic the hedgehog the movie (animated version from the 90s) fetches a decent price although I havent come across that in the wild. I also picked up a region free flight of the dragons for 50p that I know is incredibly desirable on the resale market. It's one the heathens at cex won't touch though as its not specifically uk region. It's also always worth price checking any anime you find as some can be quite rare and desirable such as a dvd copy of perfect blue I picked up for a couple of quid. It's not easy finding dvds worth having from a resale point of view as so many realy aren't worth anything regardless of how much you love that particular movie or show. As an example I'm a big fan of spaced and red dwarf but boxsets of those shows sell for pittance. Not that puts me off adding them to the collection' black adder and black books are cheap as chips as well but still welcome on my self. Same for ray harryhausen movies. You could convince yourself they must be worth something due to their influence on special effects. But nope cheap as starship troopers lol. Sometimes you can be supprised. Hey duggee (a recent and loved kids show) has one dvd in the range that sells head and shoulders for more than any other in the dvd series. Its the wedding badge and other stories. Most dvds of that show rarely tip over a fiver used and often less. For some reason the wedding badge hits close to the 20 mark

I still love selling media but probably have to look through 200 DVD''s + now to find one good one, 20 years experience means I don't have to look up completed sales on eBay very often, the film Truly Madly Deeply has now been reissued but in the past I have sold about fifteen of them over 2-3 years for £20 each, picked up a load of THE BILL DVD series last year for 25p each and got over £60 for them as a bundle, will keep looking as long as there is still some rarities around

Hi whats the secret to making a profit when selling DVDS? I am confused and need some advice, if i put the dvds at a very cheap price and then post them, i am making a loss. Its the postage which ultimately screws it up and i don't really know the secret to making a profit with the postage? If i charge higher end prices no one will buy the dvds? So if anyone has any advice? How do you post them for a cheap price? and then make a profit?

      @Andygb78 ปีที่แล้ว

@@skinlesswalnut6259 I still find a few DVDs worth selling on my travels. I can sometimes get up to £10 profit on the odd one. The good thing is charity shops don't check their value, unless it's a box set, and where I live they often have 4 DVDs for £1 offers. I got a few live music DVDs and a copy of Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars the other day.
Obscure films, old TV series, particularly anything on the network label, classical opera/Theatre DVDs and some live music DVDs all go pretty well for me. You just need to know what to look for, and like you say there's not much competition for them either.
