We have both, the TGATB Kindergarten handwriting and HWWT Kick Start Kindergarten (purple book). I do agree in that HWWT provides more instruction and guidance on proper letter formation. I am going to focus on HWWT and once we get thru that one bring back TGATB.

My son is the same way he despises coloring but my daughters love it. This video helped me realize this will be best for us! My son Wesley has always had a shaky hand despite lots of practice with scissors, play dough, hands on stuff ever since 18 months--writing is just hard for him and I think this basic approach will help. Thank you for the review!

I know exactly what you mean about YOU needing some guidance on how to teach letter formation. I feel like I missed this with my girls but I've got my eye on HWOT for my boys when the time comes to teach them letter formation. This is an excellent program and I wish I had used it with my girls! I agree that the manipulatives aren't necessary. We enjoy TG&TB handwriting as well.

Thanks for sharing! I definitely need the direction that it gives to teach my crew but I understand what you’re saying about TGTB. I printed the first 4 lessons for each free and I’m going to give it a go to see how my littles like it before buying.

I was wondering if the manipulatives were necessary with Handwriting without tears. Glad to see it working for you guys with just the book, I’ve been trying to decide what handwriting materials to purchase. Thanks for the video!

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your videos! I'm on the other side of the world in Massachusetts (USA) but all of your curriculum reviews have been so helpful to me! Keep up the great work! :)

Honestly, this really helped even though I was looking for someone to teach me exactly how to teach this curriculum but your overview sufficed. I am satisfied and excited to finally move on lol. You mentioned just improvising whatever your didn't know and I was thinking of doing that (although I did get the teachers manual, I was still confused). Anyways, thank you for this video and your insight.

What do you think about the letter "a" formation. The traditional is the circle and stick, and the modern is the oval and stick. I don't want my child getting confused.

Honestly, I think it's a good thing for them to be exposed to a few different fonts as handwriting differs from person to person, as do fonts in books. :)

I’m going to use this for my 5yo boy I think! One question (and sorry if it covers this in the book) but about how many pages per day do you do? Thanks!

I really just based it off of how my son was doing on the day. Anywhere from 1-3.

I’ve bought one book for each level and I’m just making copies until I get to my last child and she will get the books lol. I’ve got 5 of them

what is that song at the end? I love it!
I found this super helpful since my child also doesn't really care for all the coloring either! Thank you!

I'm so glad! The song is called I'm Dreaming of You :)

Did you do one letter per day? Idk how to teach this because by doing 1 letter a day I don't think my son will remember how to write the letter he did the day before if he doesn't practice it until he remembers it. I guess we could do a review on previous lessons everyday. ,

It does spiral back to the letters so there is plenty of review. :)

Teachers Pay Teachers has the sheets as well so you might be better off purchasing there to print as much as you want 😊
