Glad you are enjoying the series so much! It really is awesome! Some say the first 2 episodes are a bit slow, but I completely disagree as they set so much up! Yeah you are right, the castle we see at the end of the first episode is topside, in fact it is the chamber inwhich Jayce was on trial. I think the undercity was built into a mine, and goes deep underground, but does have a 'top' part to it as well, so where the group got into the fight with the gang of boys in the first episode would be considered the 'undercity' as well (at least to the richer residence of Piltover). Great reaction! Looking forward to the next! :)
Nice reaction! The next episode is pivotal...! This series is more 'show' than 'tell'. It doesn't spell everything out like Disney does. It will tell you what's going on, but it requires the viewer to pay attention. Keep it up and all will be revealed. What you asked about at the end, yes, Piltover is what they are looking out at from the undercity. The undercity (they call it 'Zaun'' is only partially underground, it was made to mine the fissures across the river, so it's sort of at the bottom of a slope. The bridge we saw Violet and Vander talking on is what separates the two cities.
In the “official” League lore, it is as you say: Piltover is literally built on top of the undercity (called Zaun), but in the show they’ve added an above-ground section to the undercity and separated them a little more by the river/bridge likely for narrative effect. Legally, they are one city (Piltover), but as the two sections have drifted further apart socially and economically, “Piltover” generally came to mean the “Top Side” (the parts north of the river) and “Undercity” (also “Underground”) referring to the slums south of the river and of course the massive levels of underground city beneath it. It doesn’t really play into the show at all, but briefly, in the game lore, the original city was the underground, built upon mining and manufacturing, until the Industrial Revolution allowed them to move above ground and build the top side, leaving the underground to evolve separately.
About Caitlyn's parents turning their backs on Jayce: it's not a good look, but remember - he was not just accused, but admitted in open court and was convicted that he committed a HIGH CRIME for which the ONLY punishment in the code of law is actual banishment from the city. No politician could stand by a protégé who did that.
@@th3voice yes, because magic is seen as intrinsically dangerous. If my appartement explodes, people will be understanding as long as they think it was my gas stove that failed but a lot more angry it they learn I was playing with explosives.
@@Morbacounet I know. That's precisely the point. Jayce DID violate the law and he admits it in open court. Moreover he admitted it to Heimer who attempted to conceal it.
Everything is showed/revealed in the show (well 99%) .. thats why ppl with low attention spans are having a rough time keeping track. Just an example .. Marcus knew it was 4 children cause the bad guy(we dont know his name yet hehe) spilled the beans and "made his day". Also .. for a map explanation .. i wanted to refer the oficial site for a clear picture so u can understand Piltover/underground geography but i think there's spoilers there so i`ll just say its not that important .. and u will figure most of the stuff along the way.
maybe it's time to warn that everything in Arcane has rhyme, similarities and contrasts, we can take both prologues and use the characters that appear as Vi and Powder who appear with a red contrast and with Vi out of shot, but in the second we see Jace out of shot and Caitlin who also has blue hair, they have a white background and a different contrast, but even there both similarities, we also see who the Piltover council is and that despite its fantastic city, it does not forgive transgressions in addition to prohibiting magic perhaps due to ancient evils that they prefer to keep out of their city, their structured society is severe and also their actions against the inhabitants of the suburban district do not take into account the most basic needs or the conditions of the facts, they only manifest their power, we also see that these members have their own interests like any politician or businessman. Jace with the loss of his tuition, his public discredit, sponsor and his friend Caitlin who, obedient to her mother, leaves and Jace, on the verge of making the worst decision, finds a person who believes in him and his work, perhaps out of necessity. or Victor's thirst for discovery fills that void that Jace had. On the other hand, Vi and his gang are chased by Marcus and the Enforcers, we also see that Powder has shooting skills, another similarity with another character that I mentioned before, with the inhabitants of the district losing patience and Vander without being able to calm the air. that even Vi reproaches him for his inaction and making a deal with the enforcers. While the mystery man gives Deckard the purple serum that he used on the rat and was the one who tipped off Marcus about the Vander kids, I recommend you remember the phrase, "every coin that passes through here comes from crime" & "I'm going to bury them all" is not a spoiler but remember, also Powder's song in the first episode. Now Vander, clarifying his problems with Vi, speaks to him frankly and she says goodbye to her sister and proceeds to give herself to Grayson to avoid the consequences. I ask you to watch the next episode with sentimental caution and not to abandon the series.

Yeah this is very true but I think it’s a bit cowardly haha
@withneeks it's even simpler : the mother backed Jayce until he confessed that he was responsible for the explosion that almost killed her daughter.
@@Morbacounet nope. He had already taken responsibility, and she didn't back away until the "horrific crimes on purpose" part.
