I'm watching this a couple of years after this video was posted and perhaps longer since it was made... I went to the website and it made me so happy to see that they're still very much in business and seem to have grown quite a bit since this was made... great little documentary and it makes me wanna buy one of their guitars!

I have a Brook Taw..I sold pretty much everything to get it and it was so worth it..I'm spoiled now because nothing else sounds this sweet. Simon and Andy are total gents. It's an honour to own one of these.

I went there last year with two friends - one of them already had a Brook guitar, and the other one wanted one (and he now has it). I sat there with my mouth open: their guitars are magnificent! I doubt if I'll ever own one, however.

Forget your big American luthiers, these guys really are the best. Here I am with my Brook Taw and she is not only stunning to look at she plays and sounds beautiful. Go and meet them and then get them to build you a guitar of you dreams. You money will be well spent and make you feel very happy. TK

Just got myself a brook cyst 0, went in for a gibson and came out with a brook, the gibsons didn't come close. Over the moon with my new guitar, pure blues machine!

This is an extremely interesting piece, but it would be really helpful to know when it was made - by the look of it probably around 1997?
I bought a Tamar from them in 2004, and Brook are still going strong so hopefully they've worked out how to pay themselves decently by now.

I have 3 Brooks and had my first one made in 2003. The experience of selecting the size, wood and aesthetics can only be compared to a made to measure suit or shoes. You have exactly what you require to your own specs, try that with the big American makers. Comparing guitars from across the pond you get a quality guitar at a better price and one that's unique to you. These guys are passionate about their product, and are justifiably proud.

I wish I could meet a luthier willing to teach me. In New Zealand it's impossible to study Luthiership. Thanks for this interesting documentary

I'm not sure when they made this documentary. I hope that they started wearing masks when doing applying spray finishes on their guitars to avoid COPD. They should live lives without the headaches of premature health problems. Especially since they make people happy with their fine guitars.

    So...it takes 200 man hours to make a guitar...100 to 150 made in a year... say 120 * 200 = 24000, 24000/ 10 hours in a day = 2400, 2400/4 men working = 600 working days in a year? lol

if these guys could make guitars affordable to more people then they could make a wage. so guys...why don't you.

+James Cougan Actually Brook have the reputation of making hand produced instruments which are much more affordable than other similar manufacturers while still maintaining a high quality and personal service to their customers.

+James Cougan If more people appreciated how much skill, hard work and total commitment goes into these guitars, which will last a lifetime, even further, become heirlooms........

+Andy Manson How much do you spend on cars, iphones and all the other stupid rubbish that becomes obsolete before you can say Jack Robinson needs to get real.....?

+James Cougan so you dont get it do you ? why would you lower a price and sell more guitars the cost would be higher to you the builder and the profits less , that makes no sense ,,, why would devalue what you do just to mass market ,,, you dont get the entire idea at all , luthiers arent in it for mass sales that your cheaper crap guitars usually , for people who dont care about the actual quality of the instrument , no the numbers , if you cant under stand your in the wrong video thats why we do what we do ,,,, to make an instrument that will last and have its own voice , the bussiness will always be there if your good at it ,,, and thats great because if no one wants your guitar let that be the determining factor seperates the wheat from the chaff ,,, and that how we get excellence no price ,,, and most serious guitar player under stand the cost of your guitar divided into the years of use and making a living will far out weight the value of the cheap junk guitar ,,,,
