    Thanks for the lesson. I found it interesting and informative. To those who are speaking out against this video please consider that this isn't a Gospel lesson and isn't meant to be. Nothing will ever replace the inspired word of God. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life - there's no other way.
    This video is simply a history lesson on how a specific denomination came to be. Haven't you ever wondered how the Baptists, Catholics, Methodists, Anglicans etc. developed? I have. In addition to professing faith in Christ, I've also heard people say "I'm Baptist" or "I'm Methodist", but without an understanding of what that means. I seek to understand the difference and that's why I liked this video.

    Thank you! I was raised a Wesleyan Methodist in Indiana. After our merger with the Pilgrim Holiness Church, we became the Wesleyan denomination. After moving to a part of SC where there were no Wesleyan churches close, my husband and I joined the United Methodist Church. I knew some of this history, but I definitely learned so much from this TH-cam video. Thank you so much!

    Ashbury and Coke left from my little village of Pill, Somerset near Bristol in England. When John Wesley visited Pill in 1755 he said “a place famous for stupid, brutal, abandoned wickedness! I remember when the American monument was placed in Pill in the early 80s and Pill was full of Americans who came to watch it and I was dressed up as a young a young lad in traditional clothing.
    It’s also worth saying that when Cabot left in 1497 to find the Americans it’s said he left from Bristol and was piloted by James George Ray of Pill.
    As the river took more than 1 tide to navigate the Matthew probably left from Pill in Somerset as it was the last place on the river you could moor..

    My grandmother was a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. And she shared much of this history with us. Especially the part of Richard Allen who is noted as the founder of of the AME Church. They were heavily discriminated against in the Methodist church; not allowed to kneel at the alter or take communion at the alter. Black congregants were forced to stay in the back of the church or up in the balcony, unable to freely come down to worship. It’s a very dark part of US history that Black people had to create opportunities for themselves in several arenas including education, business, and even worship.

    A local free methodist pastor husband, shepard allows the abomination of the family by abandoning a widow and orphans. He allowed the testamony of his spouse to take authority over children rather than reaching out to preserve the family. Moving against the poor and needy. He allowed the Ten Commandments Abandonment and Biblical Precepts to the Principality and Power of the world. His pastoral position handed down by his family name. No freedom from slavery for the children and threat of imprisonment to the widow. NO HELP..NO Father showing the Love of Our Triune Lord. The Calling Of a Christian is to Love your neighbor as yourself. The greatest commandment is love. Jesus leaves the 99 to go after the one. By the order of Melchizedek, Genesis 14: 18-20..who blessed Abram/Abraham out of whom came the Chosen People. Hebrews 7:3-4. King of Salem, King Of Peace

    How can a church that began with holiness spiral down to ordinating woman, gays and allowing gay marriage?

    • @tedacampbell
      @tedacampbell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may have got some bad information. The United Methodist Church considers "homosexual practice" to be "contrary to Christian teaching" and doe ot allow "self-avowed, practicing homosexuals" to be ordained or appointed for ministry. Our most conservative groups ordained women first, and the most liberal groups were the last to ordain women.

      This is one of the big problems a lot of us non-Methodists have. We look at UMC Articles Of Religion and see what you're supposed to believe, practice, teach, etc, etc, but then in real life we see UMC churches who completely ignore those tenets and do their own thing. My local UMC church has a female pastor who teaches her congregation that all religions are equally valid, God loves everyone just the way they are and there's no need to change anything about yourself, and she marries gay couples. She's been operating with full impunity for many years even though her apostasy has been thoroughly documented and reported. It's hard to have any respect for this.

    Interesting that the inclusion of women is so widely celebrated when the Bible clearly denounces the practice. Yet, when denying full inclusion to gays and lesbians the Bible is quickly quoted. That's why this debate is so ridiculous. We go against the Bible in favor of modern practice all the time.

    This was hard to get through. My grandmother is a lifelong Methodist and only a year ago my life energy spread to her and the thirst for knowledge was implanted. She has woken up from the dream. Thought I would check out the history of the place that has siphoned her money and time and replaced free thinking with ideology and scare tactics. This group is nothing more than a BUSINESS.
