Corniche House, designed by OPEN ARCHITECTES in Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium, offers a tranquil and green retreat on the outskirts of the city. The house was created to meet the evolving needs of a growing family, providing spaces for independence and togetherness. The design is guided by the location's natural features, preserving trees and minimizing environmental impact. Built on a former tennis court, the house features two main volumes: a flat-roofed volume atop a plinth and a "night" volume at the slope's base. The plinth blends into the topography, creating intimate spaces and terraces that follow the sun. The house, completed in 2022 and spanning 520 square meters, integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, offering a harmonious and sustainable living environment. Key contributors to the project include Aristide, Arte, Hotbath, and others, with Artuur Engineering handling structural stability and HOMECO overseeing building physics. Corniche House exemplifies thoughtful design that balances beauty, functionality, and environmental harmony.
