Music of Ethnic Minorities in the Baltic States

The Baltic states, also known as the Baltic countries, Baltic republics, Baltic nations or simply the Baltics, is a geopolitical term, typically used for grouping the three sovereign states in Northern Europe on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Estonians are Finnic people, together with the neighboring Finns. The Latvians and Lithuanians, linguistically and culturally related to each other, are Baltic and Indo-European people.

Don’t know much of anything about Eastern European cultures, nations, etc. but got turned onto Estonian folk music by an Estonian TH-camr and I gotta day, it reminds me of a perfect fusion of Spanish, middle eastern, Russian, and Nordic music.
In reality probably not even half of that is accurate, but still, it’s a unique experience to an American.
Very elegant yet, raw. Calm, yet untamed and eager to finally be set free.
I love folk music. I’m typically into American, Nordic, Celtic, catholic, with a bit of Mongolian. But this is new and a happy medium between peaceful simplicity and aggressive complexity.

None of this is traditional Estonian music, fyi. It is about the ethnic minorities of the baltic states. Nothing against this, but I wish this channel had made this a little more clear.

I just received my results back from a DNA testing service. I have a percentage of DNA from the Baltic States. I had no clue. I always wondered why this music and the culture appealed to me so strongly. Now, I guess I have that answer.
