Biggie knew how brilliant Herb was. The greatest rappers of all time had the utmost respect for brilliant musicians. That’s not a knock, that’s talent respecting talent.
i remember being a kid growing up in the 90's and hearing BIG's track first...then hearing this Herb Alpert's version on a jazz station and thinking it was an enterprise version or something. Then I looked it up and found out Herb's was back in 1980. Now I rock both tracks. Love both of them...this is a great mash/mix.
@@stephybabs3233 the song lends itself to being sampled. Randy Alpert liked Black music immensely, which is why he incorporated funk elements into Rise. P Diddy sent Randy Alpert a demo of Biggie rhyming over this, and Randy Alpert liked it right away. The rest is history.
Diddy (known then as Puff Daddy) produced "Hypnotize" and sampled Herb Alpert's 1979 hit "Rise" which was written by Andy Armer and Herb's nephew, Randy "Badazz" Alpert.[5] Randy recalled, "I asked Puffy, in 1996 when he first called me concerning using 'Rise' for 'Hypnotize,' why he chose the 'Rise' groove. He told me that in the summer of 1979 when he was I think 10 years old the song was a huge hit everywhere in New York and 'Rise' along with Chic's 'Good Times' were 'the songs' that all the kids were dancing and roller skating to that summer. He had always remembered that summer and that song. When he first played the loop for Biggie, (he said that) Biggie smiled and hugged him.
While i am only a 90's baby, as a major hip hop fan, i can say without a doubt this is the best song ever in hip hop. If not top 5. The beat is perfection to the ear drum, easy to bop to, funky, can rock this beat in any era (maybe not today, but still, dont tell me this wouldnt be a sick beat today). Combine that with arguably the best lyricist/flow man to ever spit it on a mic, you get magic. I can listen to it over and over and it still feels fresh. Thats when you know a song is timeless.
Brooklyn we miss a great legend. This mix is truly amazing. Rise is one of my favorite classic cuts and adding another missed legend is a main source classic rock. Number one grove smooth and heavy jazz
Oh hell yeah 👍🏻 I’m a huge Metalhead and have respect for most genres of music. Biggie was brilliant and Herb is obviously a genius too. This is amazing 🤩

This late night dedication love song is in a special remashed version that the song goes out to Luke and Laura and also goes out to all of the late night lovers out there from all over the world enjoying the nightlife late at night. It's "Hypnorise" (The Dubious Late Night Seduction Suite Mix).
Randy Alpert actually gave his blessing for Rise to be sampled for Hypnotize. Randy Alpert wrote Rise to be played on Black radio stations; he heard BIG's flow over Rise and liked it right away. I am sure Randy "Badazz" Alpert would approve of this remix.
@@OthO67 Randy Alpert liked funk and other Black music elements and so incorporated some into Rise. That's part of why this mashup is seamless. You can hear the inspirations in Rise's bassline.

:) i understand totallty. but eh without any pdiddy there would be no biggie. this is the naked reality. pdiddy was the genious producer of the 90s. the team he made up made it possible for notorious loosers like biggy to become the hottest rapper in NYC. he is not the only one that made it in the 90s because of diddy´s music instinct to place the right personn (biggie) with the right studio engineeers and so on. at the end a ´yeah yeah´ is nothing at all! at least! Lil wayne ´s producer is on his tracks as well......
Quite possibly the greatest sample of all time
Biggie knew how brilliant Herb was. The greatest rappers of all time had the utmost respect for brilliant musicians. That’s not a knock, that’s talent respecting talent.
Herb Alpert was ahead of his time when "Rise" came out in 1979.
Game recognize game, is how Biggie would say it ;-)
I credit Diddy for the sample. Diddy found the sample and mixed it. Biggie probably had little input
Lol. Biggie was always at the Mercy of his DJ'S knowledge and talent.
The producer that made the beat, knew how brilliant Herb Albert was. The beat was made b4 he heard it

I heard it from Biggie first, then heard Herb Alpert's full version on a Casey Kasem AT 40 Flashback, 1980.
Herb album came out with ryzen 1979
I’m so old I heard herb version first. It was a hit as well as biggies
@MISHIT KINGS Lmao thought what? Please explain.
Rise, by the Tijuana Brass, was issued in 1979.
This probably one of the smoothest mashups ever!

Biggie didn't like this type of music. Puff was the genius behind the music aspect of it all.

It was Puff. In the Notorious movie biggie was questioning him about the Juicy sample and puff was like trust me. And it was a hit of course.

Everyone is surprised to find herb was original, wait until they find out gangstas paradise isn't originally by Coolio either.
Weird Al Yankovich- Amish Paradise is the Original 😂
I'm not everyone. So I'm not surprised about Herb Alpert. This original music was played on the soap opera General Hospital. Mic Drop!!!
@@ob1smash Actually the original is Pastime Paradise by Stevie Wonder.
All these years growing up listening to jazz I never knew until yesterday that this influenced one of the best hip hop records

Biggie was an old soul. What an amazing ear for music. No other rapper on his level
Except Tupac, Dr.Dre, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg...
Biggie no 1
Biggie did not produce the track. PUFF DADDY did at the time so it was him who had the idea and implemented it.
Hypnorise. Damn this is good.
