Crashing a monster truck tbf is a lot less dangerous than crashing a plane Kev…your first mistake may well be your last mistake in aviation…I wish you luck but your instructor is 100% correct…thinking you know better in aviation is a danger to yourself and also the people on the ground…I really hope you prove my fears wrong…good luck..
Most planes have dual controls for both pilots, so I'd imagine Kev'll go up with an instructor quite a few times before going solo. It's partly for training, but also could become disoriented or pass out from the g's.
Aviation is terribly unforgiving, whilst the plane can do 10g it doesn't mean that the pilot can, most cannot and those that can trained for it for many years of butt clenching whilst some doctor had them safely in a centrifuge. If someone who's been instructing or flying an Extra for years tells you that its unsuitable for a first plane, its not because they don't have faith in you, jealousy or they somehow want to spoil your fun. Its because they like you and if they have been in aviation for any length of time will know someone that is no longer with us. Its a small community.
After seeing your monster truck dreams come true, I totally believe you will be flying that airplane ✈️ You are a very driven individual and make your dreams come true. Just don't forget our RC Kevin Talbot!
put breakables in a container and see if you can get them to break in the plane. like raw egg in a clear bin. See if G forces could crush it. Put jello in one and see how it compresses and moves about. That could be fun content!!
For the plane videos it would be really cool to have some telemetry on screen... like altitude, G meter, roll, pitch.. everything you can show, put an overlay on the video of everything thats happening while youre flying..
Based on your skillis with an rc helicoptor, and all the other things you do.. monster truck, lambo ect.. I totally beleive you'll master that plane! I know they are all differnt things but your abilitly, determination and motivication makes me think you can do anything you put your mind too... You're amazing Kev and a real inspiration to me, am I'm sure many others.. Stay safe and I wish all the best with everything going on in that awesome life you created. A true idol!
Congratulations on the airplane 👍👍 The Isle of man TT race is absolutely amazing, the motorcycles the sidecars, are absolutely insane 💯 I'm looking forward to any footage from Isle of man race💯
you should have listened to your instructor, extras are not forgiving and will stall/spin if flown to slow, being a pilot is not about flying when it all going well its how you handle a bad situation and inexperience in a extra with engine problems will catch you out and there is no reset button!, and unlike your cars you will be in it.
Crazy plane. Been flying for years with over half of my 4000+ hours in tail draggers. You definitely have started at the pointy end of the spear with the Extra. But that being said, you should get it with a good instructor and commitment. Be safe. Fly good. Don't suck.
Good job kev work hard play hard you been working hard climbing to the top now its time to sit back and enjoy life go see things do stuff you always wanted to do brother Congratulations 👏
At the local airport a guy had a 330 LT and that thing was amazing, the airport was kind of an average sized regional airport, my family lived there for probably 7 years. (My parents took care of the place.) Seen a lot of cool planes during the annual fly-ins. but that was probably the best. We started living there when I was in kindergarten, My grandfather rented one of his planes to the skydivers and could never get myself to jump out of a perfectly good running plane LOL
Imo continue editing with your style and your story telling even with planes. You do a lot of cool stuff but is how you show it that makes people intrested and the reason why they love you. Don't scratch too mach your head, do what you can without getting crazy. Surely would be cool having having high quality video but I imagine that the effort required is too much so, make it just good enough as you did till now. Don't struggle too much, the flight you already show were cool.
an idea for making stunt plane footage look more interesting to the average viewer is to record in on something like a 6s freestyle drone. although finding a pilot might be pricy... it would make fore some sick FOOTAGE and some cockpit views while flying would be cool. just an idea... love the content kev!
Kevs done the plane equivalent of going from getting your licence on a 125cc motorbike capable of hitting 100kmh in "maybe" to getting a 1300cc hayabusa capable of hitting 300kmh and turning people into paste. Be careful mate.
Have you tried skateboard wheels? They come in soft compound id try softest and then step up the hardness till they dont break then add grip by coating them with something sticky if need be
Hey Kev, I always love your content so I think you find a way for the Planes to look cool ... maybe you can add smoke to the plane to visual the speed .... and also things in the back ...like clouds for exsample, will make it look faster like a blue sky only. thanks for your content and greetings to you and the community. greetz from Germany mello
Great to catch up with whats going on in your world mate. Looks like some cool content coming our way so looking forward to it. Hope the move is going ok buddy.
As long as you get plenty of stick time and dont push it stay with your instructor until your very very comfortable you should be good. The extras are designed unstable thats what make them so good at aerobatics so you just need to be aware of that . Good luck. Maybe get a bunch of hours in a high wing aircraft until you get very comfortable.
With the wheel test jig, i would think to add a guide wheel on the bottom like a dyno for a car. That way, the tire is under load. may help from exploding. might be a more acurate test also. good luck.
For the plains, people will be more interested in seeing the antics and things that go on involved in getting the plane and learning about the planes than they will you actually in a plane
Hey Kev! I really love your nitro and gasoline rc car videos! I was thinking of an idea, and was wondering if you could make a project nitro/gas speed rc car. I don't know much about nitros and gasoline cars but I would really enjoy a video on this. Thanks so much and continue to make great videos!
Hey Kevin, i think some in-cockpit camera shots along with some telemetry showing things like speed and g-loads might help convey your experience as a pilot to us. Perhaps a camera aimed over your shoulder, one toward you from the instrument panel. Seeing you get pushed and pulled by the g forces alongside some live g-load telemetry would be good viewing.
Hi Kevin, I might have a solution for your wheels. If you think that the inner part of the dBoots hoons are strong enough for the speedrun I will be able to make you a fiber reinforced rim based on those. The outside diameter of the rim would then be around 84.50 mm you would have to supply and glue the foam on yourself. Let me know. Joel.
Extra 330? Yes. Would I watch it, regardless of how you put the video together? Also, yes. Even if the video is all one take of you flying, from take-off to doing your thing and landing? Definitely yes!
Kev how do you balance having equipment at your old shop and your new shop hours away? Tools, cars, parts etc.. I imagine that would be extremely aggravating at times id like to know how you manage all of that, and still produce great videos. Time management is something i can always take notes on. Cheers.
Hi Kev, Have you thought of creating an RC Dyno for testing speed tyres under load rather than just spinning them up with no resistance? There's one called Minipro which looks cool. Also, When are you going to head to Florida? Would be a cool collab with Cleetus on RC stuff and maybe, enter the 2.4 hours of Le Mullets.

have fun flying, and yes do it for yourself, not for youtube or clicks.....thumbs up👍👍
Living the dream Kev 🙌🏼 The senior TT is amazing but brutal as well... Sad to say 🙏🏼 if you know nothing about bikes and real road racing you will learn there for sure! I have flown and have many Extra's... RC lol! But they are amazing planes. I have a 56cc Extra 330L that's big enough for me and it does crazy things! 🤣 Be safe and enjoy!
I think on the airplane if you do the filming from the ground and have the camera on the inside and do the split screen that will help for people to understand what’s going on how radical it really is
Kev - Aviation vids need some form of point of reference to give the viewer a representation of the aircraft performance. I.E Reno AirRaces - your visual is the desert floor and pylons. That gives the viewer a sense of speed. For you. I'd suggest a wingmounted side view camera slightly angled downwards to capture the side profile of the plane and the ground. Likewise, strongly recommend a head cam. Us plane lovers are big fans of cockpit views. Keep up the epic work.
I was thinking the same. Now with modern cameras and software, perhaps on video the plane could be flying through a course for reference. Or, show bars of G-force coming out of the plane. Gimmicky of course.
i wanna see you put the speed when your flying and film the whole thing and i would reaLLLY wanna see your max speed casrs nip it up and down the road showing the mad accseleration not trying to reach a top speed jus drifting around and flying up and down the road with rubber tyres and foam and get drone vids for the plane that would be coool but yh luv the vids
Every one love Cletus McFarland videos and he just brought a airport I would love to seemore videos about the airplanes and a lot of people love it to but that's mainly cuz it's the usa but good luck with your new venture
Do a fair bit about TT your channel will get alot more popular. Alot of bikers go there every year and love watching anything about it. You live there so should be able to give a bit more insight into it and how is organised. Good luck in your move and future
I keep wondering if the solution to the tire problem is simply bigger wheels. That would of course require a lot of work as the axles would have to be moved further up just for starters.
If it's your dream to have the best plane, or anything for that matter, then why not go for it all out. You'll only regret it if you don't do it, wondering what if instead of this is my dream live it.😊😊😊
Maybe put like streamers on the tail or like a flag like a 2 foot flag or 3 foot flag and maybe a couple different points on the airplane. Maybe it would show more speed cause then you can see the flags like Twistin and waving and all that .trying to think of something keep it up, man loving the vids
True Kev form, really needs a Cessna Caravan to transport himself, crew, and toys between the Isle and England.....buys an Extra that can do none of those things. lol
Flightchops did a brilliant video of him taking a flight with an instructor...he used 3d visual drawings to aid what was going on with the plane ....ideally you need someone filming on the ground at the same time. You have to get a Extra RC plane Kev there brilliant...
For the plane vids how about doing a collaboration with Cleet!? He gets heaps of views for his plane and helicopter videos plus you both love rc stuff and speed!!! Cheers from Australia
Kevin it’s really hard to make aeroplanes look great as there is no reference point ie background to show off their true speed etc, going to be a tough one to make them look good but a man of your imagination Im sure you’ll do a good job
Congrats on the stunt plane! Will you be commuting back to England in that one? Can it cruise decently quick and efficient and reliably log hours that way? Can you use the passenger seat for a strapped in duffel bag of sorts for any groceries and stuff that you'd be hauling by car? Surely it has no large cargo hold...

Have you thought about solid rubber or solid silicone tyres for the speed runs? Problems you've had so far is blowing off the rims....eliminate the rims and there's nothing to shred from.....don't know if they'd balance etc or even work, but just a thought......
that would be so heavy i dont think it would hold up, it has to be as light as possible. Also don't have the time to make something like that, if I company made something i'd be happy to test it
If you want to show cool airplane videos, you kind of need a telemetry overlay on the screen that shows G force, airspeed, angles, etc. I am sure there are some good systems out there
Kevin, try building an aluminum surrounding around your wheel speed tester. That way all the rubber will stay within the tester and not all over the place. Just a thought.

Buying an aerobatic plane as your first plane is like buying a toddler an f1 car very dum even after 100hrs instruction in that particular aircraft

360° cameras all over the plane. Locked horizon shots are neat.

Mourners omit flowers.
Make sure you have a good 'Face Cam' when you pull 10g's! I've done 6 or 7 in a Jet before, with a G-Suit, and that's pretty intense!
This! It’s the only way you can get any idea of what’s happening.
ive had 6 so far that feels bad!!
Definitely need some type of surround for that speed test rig.
Hey Kev! I really love your nitro and gasoline rc car videos! I was thinking of an idea, and was wondering if you could make a project nitro/gas speed rc car. I don't know much about nitros and gasoline cars but I would really enjoy a video on this. Thanks so much and continue to make great videos!
POV for the plane. Like a hat/helmet camera. In Isle of Man do you need the seperate tail wheel license and an aerobatic license to fly the extra?
I think a good idea for displaying the behavior of the plane is to put a HUD in post that shows things like speed and GForce.

Hey Kev, the best way to film planes is to do it on a partly cloudy day. It gives a much better reference
Hi Kev, Have you thought of creating an RC Dyno for testing speed tyres under load rather than just spinning them up with no resistance? There's one called Minipro which looks cool.

Hi Kev, please do a full video on finding and choosing your plane
That race is insane!!!!
gotta be epic to learn how to fly!
I think on the airplane if you do the filming from the ground and have the camera on the inside and do the split screen that will help for people to understand what’s going on how radical it really is
That's better than a Lear Jet! Having your own stunt plane you learn to do stunts in! Looking forward to the speed sausage!
think it's cool that no matter what, you learn and accomplish whatever you put your mind to, good luck with the airplane, stay safe
The Robin reliant car would be good car to have the Beney Hill playing whilst running lol.

Are we looking at an aviation Kev! If so I’m here for it! Good luck!
For the plane, I’d do Picture in Picture. Full screen say in cockpit and then smaller picture from ground, or other view maybe go;or on the back ect.

More videos..!!!!👌🏾 If it is planes or RC, i know you Will Make it fun to see..!!! And learn somethingS too☺️
All sounds exciting
Flightchops did a brilliant video of him taking a flight with an instructor...he used 3d visual drawings to aid what was going on with the plane ....ideally you need someone filming on the ground at the same time.
You have to get a Extra RC plane Kev there brilliant...
Perhaps you could get someone to fly an FPV drone with a good camera to follow your plane as you’re learning? not sure if it’d be fast enough though
Kev should watch "The Blue Angels" documentary for some inspiration on filming airplane footage
Love your energy level Kev 👊. Keep up the good work and do more Xmaxx bash video’s 😉
Wooo hooo moving sucks , but thanks for the boat vids coming soon , and yes Kevin im.a boat fanatic
For the plane vids how about doing a collaboration with Cleet!? He gets heaps of views for his plane and helicopter videos plus you both love rc stuff and speed!!! Cheers from Australia

360 camera on the plane!
Follow your dreams, I'll keep following you 😊
