    power factor is ratio between KW and KVA.Power factor is a measure of how effectively electrical power is being utilized in an AC (alternating current) circuit. It is a dimensionless quantity that ranges from 0 to 1.
    In an AC circuit, power is the combination of two components: real power (active power) and reactive power. Real power is the power that is consumed by the resistive components of the circuit and performs useful work, such as generating heat, light, or mechanical work. Reactive power, on the other hand, is the power that is consumed by inductive or capacitive components in the circuit and does not perform useful work but rather establishes and sustains electromagnetic fields.
    The power factor is defined as the ratio of real power (P) to the apparent power (S). Mathematically, it is expressed as:
    Power Factor (PF) = P / S
    Where:
    P = Real power (in watts)
    S = Apparent power (in volt-amperes)
    The apparent power (S) is the vector sum of the real power (P) and the reactive power (Q). It represents the total power flowing in the circuit. The power factor essentially indicates how much of the apparent power is being converted into useful work (real power) and how much is being wasted (reactive power).
    A power factor of 1 (or 100%) indicates that all the power being supplied to the circuit is being used effectively for useful work. A power factor of less than 1 indicates that a portion of the supplied power is being consumed by reactive elements, resulting in wasted energy. This wasted energy can lead to increased electrical losses and inefficiency in the system.
    It is desirable to have a power factor as close to 1 as possible in order to maximize the efficiency of the electrical system. Power factor correction techniques, such as the use of capacitors or inductors, can be employed to improve the power factor and reduce the amount of reactive power in the circuit, thereby improving energy efficiency.

    A power factor of 1 indicates that the reactive power in an AC circuit is zero, and all the supplied power is being used effectively for useful work. This ideal scenario occurs when the circuit consists entirely of resistive elements and has no inductive or capacitive components.
    In a purely resistive circuit, the voltage and current are in phase, meaning they reach their maximum and minimum values at the same time. The power factor in this case is 1 because there is no phase difference between the voltage and current waveforms. All the power delivered to the circuit is converted into real power (useful work) without any reactive power being consumed.
    However, in practical AC circuits, inductive and capacitive elements such as motors, transformers, and fluorescent lights are present, which introduce reactive power. Inductive elements cause the current to lag behind the voltage waveform, while capacitive elements cause the current to lead the voltage waveform. This phase difference between voltage and current leads to a power factor less than 1.
    A power factor less than 1 means that a portion of the supplied power is being consumed by reactive elements and not utilized for useful work. This reactive power increases the current flowing in the circuit, leading to higher losses, increased voltage drop, and decreased overall efficiency.
    To improve the power factor and reduce the wastage of energy, power factor correction techniques can be implemented. These techniques involve the use of capacitors or inductors to offset the reactive power and bring the power factor closer to 1. By doing so, the circuit operates more efficiently, reduces energy losses, and optimizes the utilization of electrical power.
    It's important to note that power factor correction is primarily relevant in industrial and commercial applications where large power loads are involved. In residential settings, the power factor is generally considered close to 1 since the loads are predominantly resistive, such as lighting and heating appliances.

    Because real power power is always less than apparent power kyoki we can't use Extra kwh from KVAh . Yadi KVAH 1000 hai to hum 1000 kwh hi use kar sakte hai yadi humara power factor 1 hai to hum isse zada use nhi kar sakte

    I want to improve my Knowledge , So Please Help me, I have little Knowledge of Power factor and I am giving Answer of your question. Yadi humari building ki consumption 1000 kwh hai or yadi humara power factor 0.98 hai to hume 1020 KVA load hi electricity board se lenge kyoki ( KVA = KW / PF)
    or yadi humara PF 0.75 hai to Hume 1333 KVA electricity board se Leni hogi kyoki (1000 / 0.75) =1333 or Power factor -1 se +1 ki wave me chalta hai isliye Power factor 1 se upper nhi jaata jb hum power factor improve karne ke liye capacitor use karte hai yadi capacitor extra KVAR ke use kardete hai to humara Power factor 1 se upper nhi jaata Power factor nagetive me chala jaata hai. Power factor Voltage or Ampere ki wave main angle batata hai ya to current voltage ko lag karega ya Lead karega.

      Dear Amit.....Facility Management require only Diploma and Experience.....In current situation maximum equipment is having Electromechanical equipped with electronics components.Keep working good no matter in which stream you did the Diploma.......my 100+ students who is working in facility management in higher post is having Electronics Degree and Diploma and they all are doing good.You will have an added advantage.......Rest i am always with you to support.Good Luck

In facility operation you should have Technical diploma or degree ....you can do the additional certification course only for 3 months and you are eligible for all higher position...... But u know how equipment works and what are their operations and maintenance..... Go through my videos you will get maximum things which you will not find in books or coaching centre.
