I have multiple pedals with expression pedals of various sizes and it’s hard to gauge which might fit with the risers and which would not fit. Looks great, can't wait to start wiring my Vertex board! Do you know if the buffer in the Mission VM-PRO volume pedal is any good or should I build a DIY Buffer/interface? I also have an ES-5 on the board, so wondering if I need separate input/output buffers to get the best noticeable difference. I was thinking about possibly modding the volume pedal into an interface to save some space... Also wondering your thoughts on the new Fender power supplies. I was planning on using a Voodoo PP3+ but the LV12 looks nice too.

    • @VertexEffectsInc
      @VertexEffectsInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Samuel, I don't know the specs on the Mission. If it's 1M input impedance and 100 ohm output it might be OK, but would just be an input buffer, you'd still need an output buffer assuming you'd put the volume pedal first. The ES-5 buffers are the same as any Boss BJT buffer, not great. The DIY buffer we do is a sure thing in terms of quality and tone. The Pedal Power 3+ is great! I don't know enough about the Fender supplies or the details on it. They don't mention if it's linear or not.

    Hey Rig Doctor, im sure you've seen this product already, but you might not trust it. The Rockboard Iso Power V16. It has 15 outputs, 4 of them switchable between 9,12, 15, 18v. There are not many reviews on it, I ordered it blind, not knowing if it would be noisy. It is more or less dead quiet. And it is very low profile, maybe similar in size to Cioks powerbricks. I have the slightest hum, but im sure the 2 solderless cables im using are to blame.

    • @VertexEffectsInc
      @VertexEffectsInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know much about it, whether it's linear or switch mode, etc. We don't see them often here in the USA, or at least I don't. Could also be the transformer that's doing the "hum" if it's linear.

    Mason! I need your help man. I build a new board and want to mount the power underneath, problem is this new gator supply has the AC input on its side and cant get to mount as easy as I'd like. I want to wire up an additional AC inlet on the outside of the board; (IEC cable plugged into the power supply hard wired to the inlet). Is this ok or should I just find a different place to mount? Should I get a fused inlet or does it matter? I don't think I've seen your interfaces include AC inlets so I was thinking there may be a reason.

    • @VertexEffectsInc
      @VertexEffectsInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      John, sorry I can't give advice on this sort of stuff regarding AC. I did a few times in the past and was advised not to for safety reasons and that you could injure yourself if something went wrong. There are some dog-ear IEC mountable plugs that are female on both ends and require no cutting or soldering of new AC power cables. I'd start there.

    Quick question, is pedalboard noise etc. more of a problem for guitarists than bassists? Pretty much all the boards you build seem to be for guitarists and I wonder if it has something to do with the range of the instrument etc

    • @Diax1324
      @Diax1324 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not the rig uncle, but bass players tend to simply use less pedals, and furthermore less gain pedals that sit in the frequency range in which noise is particularly noticeable. Bass players who use lots of fuzz/high gain amps, or high voltage pedals like Strymon units probably need the same amount of care.
      Ultimately, I think it is most likely the first option. Bass *generally* is trying to fit in with the drummer, and having big, time based effects pedals and swampy stuff can make that relationship fall apart.

    • @VertexEffectsInc
      @VertexEffectsInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2
