Hi Jules, just want to say how much I love seeing a half Korean content creator. My mom was adopted and I always struggled with my identity as a half Korean girl in an all white family. I appreciate my ethnicity now but that wasn’t always the case. Anyways, it’s just really special to me

Aw hello! 👋🏼 I feel that! it’s been really special exploring more of my roots and I finally feel so much more connectedness and belonging than I ever did growing up. I hope you are finding that fulfillment in the journey too!

Hey Jules! As someone who also struggles with TMDJ and anxiety, I would also recommend checking with your dentist to make sure you aren’t grinding your teeth at night. That can also contribute to a lot of jaw pain overnight and really badly effect the health of your teeth. Even if you are not grinding them, you still could be clenching really hard which can also cause damage. My dentist recommended a overnight mouth guard and it was life changing, which helped with a lot of the pain and kept my teeth safe from harm. The mouth guard and working with my chiropractor/physical therapist on my jaw, neck and upper back, since like you said, they are all connected, made the biggest difference to me. They helped me learn exercises I can keep up with to prevent pain or relief if when it comes up, and just overall keeps me happier, healthier, and overall less stressed, and therefore less anxious, because I felt like I had more of the tools to deal with issues as they came up and they just present less since I added in a lot of preventative measures into my life. Hope that helps in case you were considering some other options as well!

I totaaaally relate to everything you shared about your anxiety, nervous system, gut, tmjd, I have all of the above! From what I understand after SO much research is that the root is a combination of my brain type (neurodivergent / highly sensitive) and trauma. I also have chronic illness so it's so severe for me that I almost never feel like I'm in a true "rest and digest" state which is so frustrating so I'd love to hear about your acupuncture experience! I have tried it in the past but maybe never found the right practitioner and I'm trying to find anything that really works. I've been trying to focus on shadow work / rewiring my brain because I know my inability o relax stems from my childhood and not having an environment where I could "turn off" and rewiring my thoughts around shame have been helpful with that!

Hi Jules! I use insight timer too and thought I’d share one of my favorite mediations. It’s “Body Scan for Sleep” by Mike Richards. You can use it anytime of day but it’s not a goal focused meditation and it is one of the few where I feel like I can really connect with my body & focus on clearing my thoughts. Wanted to share in case it helps you too! Love your videos/content!

If your acupuncture works please share where you went ! I’m in Houston and willing to drive to austin. I’ve suffered from severe anxiety/ ocd my whole life(I’m 28 now) and I’ve had digestive issues too for years. I’ve been told I have celiac in some tests but blood work always says I don’t. Gastroenterologist tell me it’s my anxiety and we just can’t figure it out. I feel your pain !!

I love how you share your wellness experience so openly. Thank you! I've followed your TMJ journey for a while now and always hesitated to ask, but have you ever considered checking for parasites? They can be at the root cause of TMJ in some people.

I have the same issues lol. My TMJ is greatly helped by a night guard from my dentist. Meditation (I use an app) has helped my anxiety. Also realizing I might always have a degree of anxiety and that’s ok.

I switched from a chiropractor to an osteopath for my jaw. A previous chiropractor was helpful, but he is really far away from me and I tried three other chiros didn’t work for my jaw specifically. Neck, yes, but jaw and cranial, I recommend an osteopath. Also, read The Mind Body Prescription by Dr. John Sarno. All the symptoms seem very linked to ME/CFS, which I have and am moderate now. I was very mild (totally functional in life like you) but became severe (bedridden and paralyzed) after Long Covid. It’s causing ME/CFS as some viruses can be one of the causes. Anyway, I highly recommend looking into all this. Brain retraining and Ayurveda in general helped me with LC and ME/CFS, in case that’s something you realize may be true of your health experiences. Sending love, Jules! I know a lot of health challenges can be really irritating to the flow of our days!

For your jaw pain, do you use a night guard at all? It’s not a silver bullet, but after my back tooth on my left side finally cracked from all the intense clenching I’ve done since as far back as I can remember, I got that fixed with a crown and the dentist fitted me for a night guard. It has made a huge difference, I wish I got it sooner. I know the pain, its definitely frustrating, hoping you figure out what helps to eliminate/reduce that pain and I appreciate what you share. I’ve been able to nearly eliminate my jaw pain between getting a night guard and some of the things you’ve mentioned. (Acupuncture though… I think I’ll pass, needles are scary, lol)

Hi Jules, it's cool to see you integrate wellness with a productive workday. My professional situation also has a lot of flexibility, but something I still struggle with is deprogramming hustle culture, 8 hour workdays, and other ideas of how much I "should" be working. It's helpful to see your example to reinforce that taking care of ourselves is meaningful!
I'm curious to learn more about how you approach these questions of structuring the time throughout your day. How do you evaluate if you are spending enough energy on your external vs internal work?
    Thanks!

Hey Jules!!! So sorry to hear about your jaw pain. Something else I have tried is NKT (neurokinetic therapy) which is amazing how it integrates your whole body , may be able to find a connection between your jaw and something else going on in your body too! ❤❤
Great vlog, i love watching vlogs especially in your new home!

I do acupuncture a year ago for my chronic disease and inflammation of my liver and bowels and I am very happy with this. Between acupuncture and the supplement I take in 2 months don't have bowel inflammation the liver took a whole year but Iʼm glad for this too.
