    BTS had written and produced music on all of their albums, even when they were debuting. Bang PD had one rule - they had to tell their honest stories and thoughts.

    Bang PD wanted them to tell their own stories.... they were encouraged to be involved in the writing and producing of their music from the very beginning.
    Bang PD signed RM because of his incredible lyric writing skills as well as his rapping skills.
    Suga was originally signed as a producer.
    The others were all encouraged to contribute too.
    Check out the dance practice for each song... you can do it after the music video.... you will see just how complex the choreography is as the MVs only show snippets.

      This! ⬆
      Watch the dance practices or live performances. These are not easy choreos. The MVs are broken up for cinematics and storytelling and so it's harder to see the choreo.

    BTS were involved in their music from the beginning. That’s why you can follow their lives and the maturity from youth to adulthood in their music. They’ve always had what they call ‘song writing boot camp’, where they all had hands in creating and making music with their other ‘in house’ BIG HIT writers and producers. What’s important to note is that BIG HIT wanted BTS to be involved and everyone they surrounded them with were teachers to them.
    Regarding choreo you don’t really notice it in these earlier MVs. You need to watch the dance practices and you will see that they’re not as easy as you think 😅
    The next song that came out after this was ‘Boy in Luv’ if you wanted to continue going in order. Note that ‘Boy with Luv’ feat Halsey is a different song and came out in 2019. So not that one lol

    How much creativity they had? That made BTS is different from other kpop groups. They -largely the rap lines RM Suga Jhope - involved or wrote the lyrics in their songs . While other groups were not. Their label was not a big one back then and they were not tied to the "kpop norms". Well u can watch it in the series Rise of Bangtan on the journey. Back then they were not too popular at first since they were dubbed as rebellious kids.

    Wait until you watch danger and war of hormone and boy in luv. But to be honest i think the reason BTS has been around for so long and stayed with their company and be as successful as they are is that they were allowed to be themselves, write their feelings and opinions in their music big hit encouraged them to tell their story, of course certain rules needed to be followed just like any other place of work, but they used to not be liked of course there are well there are still some of those people who are against them 😒 but they werent afraid to talk about the good, the bad and the ugly

    Hello! This song is about the oppressive and all-consuming education system in Korea. Students go to school all day and then go to cram school to study all evening, coming home around 10pm. Korea has the highest suicide rate for teens in the world. It’s too much for many kids. Not everyone can be number one. Over the past year, there have been at least 4 or 5 teacher suicides because teachers get bullied and harassed by parents if their student isn’t excelling in everything. It’s been in the news there and there was a national teachers strike. But it’s hard for parents to trust their kids to follow their own interests and still be “successful.”

    2:20 What set them apart from other idols / groups was that they were involved in the process. They composed, produced, etc. They weren’t “manufactured”. This is why they’re outstanding. They wrote about whatever they were experiencing or going through at the time.

    If you really want to understand their journey from the beginning, I highly recommend the fan-made documentary The Rise of Bangtan. It’s a 21 part documentary that features lots of footage that the guys recorded themselves. Lots of vlogs and Bangtan Bombs from pre-debut and their early years.

    BTS even as young teenagers had more creativity, artistry than older adults. They showed what their generation and culture were facing thru their music at that time. They received and still getting hate. But where are all the people who say they are maybe ok or generic?

    Songwriters for this one: Pdogg (also the producer and one of the main producers and songwriters at Bighit), "Hitman" Bang (the boss!), RM, SUGA, Supreme Boi (former BTS trainee, he was part of pre-debut We are Bulletproof part 1) featured/guest rapper in Cypher 3 and contributed songwriting to many Bighit/Hybe songs over the years). Typical for BTS songs to have a few members as co-writers along with others. This same group, along with JHope & JK wrote No More Dream.

      I wish JK had the trust in his writing and liked it more, because I think he has a neat way with words… and it would improve with experience. He (all the vocalists) definitely had the best mentors.

    BTS choreography is some of the best from the beginning. Of course they can't always fit it into the music videos so that is why there are usually choreography versions or performance versions if you want to concentrate on that rather than storyline. You are literally doing yourself a disservice by not checking them out live during this time. One of the things that let you know back then that they were something was by how much attention they commanded once they hit that stage, it was incredible.

    One thing I love about BTS choreography is it is tied to the lyrics. There dance is also telling the same story they are singing about in the song. KPOP is known for great dancers but not all are as expressive in their dance as BTS in telling their stories. The aesthetic of BTS is extremely pleasing to me.

    You need to watch the rise of Bangtan. You are obviously interested in their discography and how they came together from the beginning. Aneesa is the one the put it together, and she is an ARMY that is a video editor in her career, so she knows what she is doing. I will link you episode 1 and hope that you will start reacting to it. I actually left you links to their first years discography. If you stick to their music videos, which are title tracks, second releases, you will be missing a lot of their really amazing B sides. I've included links to live performances and/or lyric videos for those. I left you the links to pre-debut We Are Bulletproof Pt. 1, and their FULL DISCOGRAPHY from debut - 6/13/2013 thru to 2014. Please check it out. from your WE ARE BULLETPROOF PT. 2 reaction post. I will leave you the Rise of Bangtan Here. Please go back to my comment and see the list.

    If you would watch the guide "an introduction to bts:the bangtan 7" by taylor mari that would answer all your questions and more. They were given free reign over what they did they didnt have restrictions like the companies put on their groups now. They wrote their songs at firat i think if i remember correctly Rm wrote most of their old stuff then as they went on they all started having a hand writing their songs.
    Watch war of hormone, boy in luv, and danger those are more of their older stuff.. war of hormone is funny... to me anyway i love it lol.

    Thanks for your reaction to this song.❤
    At the moment, all the guys are involved in writing songs, are authors and co-authors of not only lyrics, but also music. Also, they are all producers.
    For example, Jimin in his solo album “Face” is the author of the lyrics and composer of all the songs included in it, on an equal basis with the staff authors of “Big Hit”. Also songwriters on their latest albums are RM, Suga (who is also a producer) and J- Hope. But they collaborated not only with staff writers, but also with foreign authors and producers. Jungkook and V are only performers in their solo albums. They collaborated with famous foreign authors and producers.
    But they are the authors of many other BTS songs. Example:
    Jungkook - No More Dream, RUN, Magic Shop (and as a producer), Stay, Telepathy, My Time, Dreamers (FIFA 2022), Still with You and others;
    Jimin - Friends, Skit (in both songs and as a producer), Lie, Promise, VIBE and others;
    V - RUN, Blue & Grey, Skit (in both songs and as a producer), Stigma, Sweet Night and others;
    Jin - Stay, Moon, Awake, The Astronaut, Abyss and others.
    But when BTS first started, the main co-writers of the songs were RM, Suga and J Hope, along with the staff writers of "Big Hit". RM currently has more than 190 song copyrights; Suga has more than 150; J-Hope has more than 100.
    As of February 2024, four guys from BTS are full members of the Korean Music Copyright Association - RM, Suga, J- Hope and Jungkook.
    Regarding the choreography, BTS have always had very complex choreographies since their debut. It just seems that everything is simple and easy. Actually this is not true. It’s just that their choreography in videos and at concerts, as well as in performances at awards, is very different. In the clips it is cut down, since it is necessary to convey the meaning of the clip itself, to show the picture. You can see the complexity of their choreographies in their dance practices. They are there for almost every song.
    Also, check out A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7, Taylor Mari. And then you will receive answers to many of your questions, you will better understand the guys - who is who.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

    Calling their choreography simple in the debut era, believe us, is wrong! They would film their rehearsals and then review and nitpick down to the angle of where their eyeballs were looking. Some of their choreos are flashier than others but the work they put in is never simple 💜

    Happy you like that one too. Yes, BTS as a group has always had creative input into their music and what they sing about. That is just one thing that has always set them apart from most k-pop group. They produce, they decide. The industry never told them which is part of why they were so hated because they bucked the system and didn't follow and "stay in their place". Now, the k-pop industry follows them. If you look at k-pop you will see since about 2017 they have followed whatever BTS has done. Watch the dance video as others have said....old BTS choreo is intense, it just looks simple on some of these videos. When you see the dance practice you'll get it.

    I understand the joy of finding character development and BTS won’t disappoint. So then, pay attention to the lyrics, to their concepts. They’re all young at this point and instead of singing about what the usual teenagers would sing about, they’re tackling deeper issues and becoming voices for those that can’t speak out. This part of them won’t change as they progress, they’ll keep getting stronger and get their message out to the world. Maybe watch the first episode of Rise of bangtan as some ppl had suggested. It’s a window to how the Korean music industry is, you’ll meet all sorts of characters, the villains, the oppressed, the heroes. Try it.

    The more you get into the "rabbit hole" of BTS you will find that during the MV's they are wanting you to pay attention to the message, but if you watch their dance practices they will tell you the story through their dance. Each move is meant to bring your eyes to the story telling. Like I said if you really want to delve into the messages that they are telling, you need to watch the mv , then the dance practice, which is usually for their live performances.

    Not every choreo will be (or needs to be) super intense, because they wouldn't make it through concerts otherwise. JK found this out the hard way, pushing himself through the heat, singing, intense choreo, and illness. Even when they were young, much of the choreo was difficult. They just make it look easy, especially in the MV's when you can't see the whole dance.

    Lmfao it's harder to learn their older songs than the newest ones (not at all though..) omg i really want to force you to watch all the choreographies. Why don't you watch all the 3 choreographies of their 3 oldest mvs you just reacted to? And next you can react to the mvs n their choreographies in one video (not all together but whatever mv you react to, its dance practice!)? Itd be so much fun .

    So yeah if you read the comments you‘lol get answers to your questions. Also, I think a lot of us like this song so much because of what the lyrics meant…and it’s a bop.😂 I believe War of Hormone would be next in line, followed by Just one day, and then Danger. Danger is when the choreography really started getting intense and if you watch the dance practices for the songs as you go along, you’ll see how truly intense the choreo is because in the MV’s they usually only do a portion of the entire choreography. Also, when you watch War of Hormone, maybe you could do a double or triple-header and watch the original MV, the “real war” war of hormone dance practice, and the Halloween War of hormone dance practice…they’re all pretty funny. If you need links let me know but I do know that every army loves these three versions..and I think you’re going to find the song itself funny. I think you’ll really like the Just one day song, and there’s a funny dance practice for that one too, but for Danger, maybe you could do another double-header and do both the MV and the dance practice…the control, manipulation, and synchronization is pretty freaking amazing!

    Next reactions suggestions, Danger, Boy in luv ( not the one with Halsey that comes later), War of Hormones. I totally agree with others, watch dance practice videos, and lives. There is a reason the members would work till late in the evening, only get a few hours of sleep and start the day over.
    Also, looking forward to Suga Trilogy.

    BTS always had creative freedom to create music thats the one thing that set them and Bang Shi-hyuk(ceo of Bighit at the time) apart from other Kpop groups or companies because they did write and create music based on their own stories which back in 2013 that was basically unheard of... thankfully I think more companies are starting to give more artistic freedom to the artists to create music, like stray kids who I'm pretty sure are all self produced.. seventeen, NCT and Monsta X also now write and produce their music

  • @AlexaOleksa
    @AlexaOleksa 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    On contrary of other kpop groups, BTS's producer/CEO told them: you should tell your story. Because they started as hip hop group their producer wanted something authentic, for them to inspire youth= telling their own story to inspire their generation
    So, they wrote all their songs from the beginning. Dure they had producer to polish them and their CEO (who is also a songwriter) to help polish lyrics, but it is their story, story of their generation they grew up with

    To answer a lot of the questions you're asking, you really should watch a couple of the BTS guides. It will really put more things into context for you. In terms of this MV, you have to understand that Korean kids are in school or academic classes an average of 14 hours per day. The pressure to succeed academically is so great that SK has one of the highest suicide rates among 14 to 20 year-olds in the world. This is just one of the social issues that BTS wanted to address. Their director and mentor, Bang Si Hyuk, did not dictate their practice hours or all of the music that they would record. Instead, he told them to write about what they knew and what they were passionate about. It was unheard of, and yet it worked! I'm so happy you're still on this path. Keep going! It's well worth it! 💜

    Like I said the other day, if you want to see the choreography, watch the dance practice - you will see that their choreographies are very seldom anything simple. In actuality, many of their older songs have very hard choreography. Just watch it.💜

    It only seems like the dance is simpler because you only get to see a small portion of the dance. To get a better idea you can check out the dance practices. Yep there is dance practice vids for each song.
    Check out BTS Concept Video. 😊

    Please include their dance practice videos as well. Thats the only way to see the full choreo. They're not actually "practices" but perfected dance performances showcasing the full choreography that they can't do in the official music videos. I recommend their Mic Drop dance practice (the 8 minute version).

    Thanks for checking out more from our boys' early discography! As for their choreography, it was very aggressive early on and definitely not easy. Keep in mind when watching music videos, you're not usually seeing the full choreography that they do when they actually perform the song live. Some of their early comeback performances and videos were the most epic, especially the intro performance trailer where they perform it multiple times to show different camera angles. th-cam.com/video/S1Up-ZzHmuw/w-d-xo.html

    Also, not sure if you know this already but they chose the name A.R.M.Y for their fans. It stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth.
    From the start they wanted to be a voice for the youth whom they felt are often oppressed by demands and expectations from the "adults" which take the form of authority, society, parents, teachers etc.
    Their songs reflect this narrative and often have deep meanings in their lyrics❤

    Thank you for your reaction the truth is big hit wae such a small company which means they most likely had to take on more of the Creative development role. But in all reality pd Bang gave them a lot more freedom then other companies. Is part of their success. Again what you say but keep in mind what they always say these are humans real humans so that said a better descriptive word would be human human development

    They always had a say in their creative direction, though I would say in the early days the three rappers were more involved with lyrics, production, etc in the beginning compared to the vocalists. I think they would all agree on the direction of the album and then get to work. They've talked about submitting lyrics and having them come back with revisions and needing to rewrite their verses until they're accepted. They've compared their creative process to a song camp before where my impression is that the senior producers provided support and polish to what the BTs members gave them.
    Now I would say it's less of a mentor-mentee relationship and more equal between the BTS members and the senior producers because they've been at this for so long, though it's always been collaborative.

    If you watch the dance practices, the choreo is different for the live performances than in the mvs. They still did crazy choreo from the get go. And yes, the dance may have gotten more complex, but some of the original ones are still incredibly hard. Dope and Danger are still some of my favorites. And of course Baepsae my first song ever.
    Watch the dance performance intro that they do to Limp Bizkit and Krizz Kaliko.

    You should watch The Rise of Bangtan. It will answer a lot of your questions. It's a 21-episode fan made series. It shows BTS before their debut untill a couple of years later. It shows where they came from, how hard they work and how they become as big. It also gives some extra information about the K-Pop Industry. It's very well made and very addictive. The Rise of Bangtan has its own TH-cam chanel.
