This Album, in it's entirety is the best thing I've heard in at least 10 years. Feels like the album that should have followed Elemental. So, I couldn't disagree with you more!
I couldn't disagree with you more. I've listened to this album several times now and that doesn't happen to often these days. This album is A+ IMO and I'm glad TFF are back with new music!
Totally agree with you. TFF are one of my favourite bands of all time & this album is brilliant, 10/10 for me. Each time I listen to it my favourite track changes but I love all the songs. It’s great to have Curt & Roland back doing what they do best!
As a former entertainment reviewer, here are my two cents: I rank The Tipping Point with their three best albums from the 80's. It's a masterpiece that leaves you wanting more. The title track is thoroughly enjoyable as is Break the Man. Both songs deserve to be included on any further "best of" compilations that the band releases in the future.
That word masterpiece has truly lost its meaning. That word should be reserves for art that is hundreds of years old not released months ago. If the word can be used for more resent art the what is the point having the word to begin with, it makes a throw away term.
@@MrBfg586 You mean "recent" art? Yes, recent art can also be outstanding and done with great artistry, Mr.Bfg. It took many years to craft this album and even the bonus tracks are fantastic. TFF are masters at crafting music and the album has gained much attention and accolades. It has also charted highly in its first week of release. This is highly unusual for a band that has not released relevant work (or any work, for that matter) in such a long time. I maintain the use of the term, as it is the first new complete album I have listened to from start to finish in years. If we want to point out an overused term, let's talk about "underrated," which is everywhere on TH-cam and not always used correctly.
I don't know what record this guy was listening to, but this album is a solid 9. Best thing since Seeds of Love. Reviewers always gotta disagree with the masses to seem so "cool and different".
Thats interesting. The older stuff meant more to me when I heard it when I was 17-18 yo. I loved it. Still do. But wonder if the new album would resonate more with me if I listened to it in 1985? Don’t get me wrong. I think this album great, and going to see them in concert. I guess a good study would be to have a young person listen to all the albums at same sitting without 17 year gap. Be interesting to see if they loved them all, or some, or none. 😀
It had too many forgettable soft tracks in it. Highlight was End of night and Masterplan. End of night is one of their best tracks. It’s definitely an album which you have to pluck out tracks. I expected more since it was a long wait.
Don't agree. The album sounds great from start to finish. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. The weak songs are the Curt sung ones however, still well done and great to hear.
I thought the same thing the first couple listens but as I kept going through it I gained more of an appreciation for the Curt songs. Very delicate and allow the album to breathe a bit.
I’m not sure we both listened to same The Tipping Point album . I’ve listened to it non-stop since it’s release, and I think it is the most solid TFF album from start to finish. Their writing, deeper, reflecting lives lived, their voices as great as ever, and it still is distinctively TFF but fresh as well. The dozens of times I’ve listened to the album, I appreciate it more. This album is an instant classic and not to be missed. If someone takes your review seriously and doesn’t buy it, they will be missing something special. Tipping Point is not to be missed.
I've listened to it about 15 times now. It's brilliant. I see nothing "coldplay" about it. And I loved Coldplay until the last 2 albums. TFF are their own. I think you should listen a few more times. They have always borrowed form the Beatles and openly acknowledge it. I'm glad they abandoned the early album. They knew what they were doing.
Probably shouldn't ask people to subscribe before you give a less-than-enthusiastic review of one of my favorite bands 😛 as it is, I loved "The Tipping Point" (the song as well as the album, although it's a bit early to make final conclusions, it's release day!). Really appreciate the lyrical heft behind the song as well as it forming a powerful centerpiece for an album that is decidedly darker than most of their efforts, perhaps since The Hurting (which is unparalleled in its melancholy and angst). I'm finding a lot to like here, lots of different ideas, and an album that doesn't necessarily have an overarching sound. I expect it will make a lot of longtime TFF fans very happy, even if it isn't quite at the same level as their late-80s endeavors (that's quite a bar: they set the standard for popular music in its time).
I recommend you give this album several more listens. I do think this album will grow on you. For me, the standout track is "Rivers of Mercy". It's hauntingly beautiful, and leaves such an indelible impression. I personally think Seeds of Love is their best work. From start to finish it's masterclass music. Songs from the Big Chair and The Hurting are also great albums. I think this newest release slightly edges out Everybody Loves a Happy Ending (which I agree doesn't get the credit it deserves). I think this recent album is more refined with such restraint and maturity. It's at least an 8/10 for me, and considering it's been nearly 18 years since their last album it's amazing how they are still at the top of their game!
Hilarious.... pure comedy. This good needs to write a song as simple as possible and we will review it. This album is masterfully written, performed and the sonic character is something we haven't heard in pop music for 20 years...
I love this album and they still have the magic and the voices that makes TFF. If you are a true Tears fan, you will not go wrong adding this to the inventory.
Have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by how strong The Tipping Point is for a band at such a late stage in their career. Do agree though that it's probably more commercial than the band care to admit, most of it is very instant but this is no bad thing. An easy 8/10 for me.
I disagree. The album is brilliant. With Everybody Loves A Happy Ending, I wasn't much a fan and only had 1 or 2 songs I liked but this one was amazing! It was a moving journey throughout. In a way, it felt a little bit like RATKOS (not musically but thematically). RATKOS took you through a journey of the past and self-discovery and here we go through a journey of grief in the myriads of ways it's felt and expressed. I was moved and in some instances to tears. The album is profound, deeply moving and deeply personal.
I didn’t care for the bare bones production or the rather generic songs on ELAHE. With The Tipping Point they had deep things to write about, such as pain and loss.
I'm a new fan, never listened to the New Wave bands back in the 80's. So I'm not approaching it from a nostalgic perspective and I think it's a damn good album. Now I'll have to go back and dig into their earlier albums.
What you call a 'tug-o-war' between old and new aesthetics, others would call a 'marriage' of the two. Also, they know 'kids' won't be jumping on this either way. Kids don't generally buy records from 50 year olds, so this album is in no way, shape or form trying to sell heaps of records to some new audience. It's illogical.
Agreed. This album brilliantly captures everything I appreciate about TFF and presents it with a mature sensibility. Well done guys. Glad to have you back!
They have never said they didn't want to make money off this album, however what they did say is that they wanted to do their way, not their record companies way. They actually had to buy the contract off the record company for a fortune, and then found themselves a record company who were willing to take them on and were on their wavelength. btw, number 2 in UK and no4 in US. Not a bad return to the studio after so many years touring.
I'm going to go ahead and review this reviewer. This dude is in love with the sound of his own voice and says random things not because he thinks they're actually true but because he likes the way the words sound coming out his mouth. Here's some cool words for you: blovated tripe.
You are a very polite person,I would agree with your statement this idiot likes the sound of his own voice and is a complete novice....bald headed prick is just looking for views.
Not sure it’s a good idea to review an album the same day it was released. Music needs to marinate for a few days. So far the album is better than I thought it would be. Ask me in a week.
Thankfully most critics do not agree with this assessment, see Metacritic where it scores an average of 86 and most are in agreement it sounds fresh and exciting. I agree with the majority of critics not this tepid review.
No offense intended, but this review sounds way too much like you're trying to sound like a hoity toity reviewer for New York Times rather than giving your real thoughts on the album. This isn't a genuine review and I'm not sure it's a good sign when just about everyone disagrees with your review. I just picked up the album today and listened to it, and I'm planning to review it on my own channel. I love Tears for Fears and frankly, I thought this was an outstanding album; one of the best new albums I've heard in quite some time. I'm going to listen to it again after a few days to make sure I still feel the same, then I'll review it. I think your desire to imitate a New York Times reviewer has caused you to fail to appreciate a truly stellar album.
I guess I shouldn't be, but I was so surprised by this album. It's excellent. Normally bands in their Autumn years find it difficult to capture what they had in their youth. But they've managed to do it. Their songs are beautifully crafted and differ throughout the album. They could have copped out and done what a lot of older bands do and try and stay in the past and cling to what worked all those years ago, but they haven't and that's what makes the album fresh and different. Think you're way off the mark with this one buddy. But hey we all have our own opinions. By the way even though I'm in my 60's now, I never had a Tears for Fears album back in the day, even though I appreciated their song writing skills. So I was never a fan boy. Think this latest album is a very solid offering and stands up against many of the strong albums that are being released today. I'd score this a solid 8.5 out of 10.
I really disagree. Is this another Big Chair? No, but it's a very strong album and more like an 8/10. Also, try the Gang of Youths album or the Black Country New Road album which are both masterpieces.
I watched your other poor review on the title track and disagreed. And now another unfair review on the entire album. This is going to be the best 2022 album. very well done and well produced. All reviews have been amazing so far. Probably their best album overall. do us a favor and review some junk musics and not an album and high class band like this which deserve thorough reviews.
I agree that Rivers of Mercy is great. It's my favorite track on the album. Although there's no Shout or Everybody Wants to Rule the World level stuff here, overall I feel it's a pretty strong return. I give it a 7.
You make lots of valid points. While I'd prefer a little less layering and production, it's so great to have them back. It's bizarre how many of the TH-cam commenters take it personally that someone doesn't agree with them.
Yeah, a lot of people get personally offended if someone doesn't think an album by their favorite band is the greatest of all time. I didn't say anything rude or insulting in my review, but plenty of TFF diehards have reacted like I kicked their dog.
This album is a masterpiece. When you listen with headphones or 5:1 sound it becomes even better. It doesn't have any 80@s anthems but every track is genious. Orzabal and Smith are rightly incredibly proud of this, what an amazing album
When people mix with headphone they tend to get caught up in the digital lushness of the effects and sounds , I've only listened to this on my TV speakers and I can tell they focused more on the soundscape aspect of the project. With that said TFF was my group in the 80's
While I agree with some of your points, I disagree with your rating. I give it 8 out of 10. A major welcome return from the guys and most definitely better than most anything else being released at the moment.
thorough review - i was pleasantly surprised at the energy on the record and how it led to a pleasant listen - its a little contemporary pop 80s style but thats what made them so successful
I now know why I don't make a habit of listening to someone "reviewing" (criticizing) an album. So full of his own importance. Happily I'm of an age (70) to make up my own mind about the contents of an album. I will enjoy listening to The Tipping Point and play it as often as their earlier works - which is regularly.
If you haven’t heard the Steven Wilson 5.1 mix or his remarkable Atmos mix for The Tipping Point album, do yourself a favor and seek it out now. Takes this amazing new release to an entirely different level. After a dozen listens to this, I’m now ranking it at the top of their catalog. Phenomenal comeback by two incredible musicians.
Sorry, I must disagree. This a damn fine album with wonderfully crafted songs. Having new TFF music to enjoy is the best thing that's happened in 2022 so far.
I am enjoying the new album. I did not expect it to be any particular way considering all they’ve been through. I was waiting to see where life events would steer and influence their writing. I can now see as I’ve listened to their new songs. I’m happy to see them back at this point in their lives and looking forward to seeing them on tour in May. They have something to say and I’m listening.
I completely disagree! It's a so expected and great album! Commercial songs? Everybody Wants To Rule The Word si not a commercial song? Shout is not a commercial song? Yes, they are and also the bests songs ever! Why you can't start an album with a slow song like No Small Thing? The slow ones are for the end? You comments have no support.
Thanks Kyle, after listening to your in depth expert review I'm not even bothering with this album. I hope tears for fears take this on board. Maybe in future you could work with them?
Skipping the record is a huge mistake. This reviewer has no appreciation for or understanding of the masterpiece he's slamming. Not only is this album TFF's best, it's one of the best albums ever made.
The craft of song writing is EXEMPLIFIED in "The Tipping Point"👍 Rather than following the status quo to appease the MASSES, they did the right thing in abandoning the earlier album to create something with substance. If this is an indication of what's to come from Tears For Fears💪, it's going to be a good summer to catch them on tour✌
Please listen to the 3 bonus tracks, way better tracks than what we ended up getting on the base release, i really enjoyed secret location (very in tune with the cover they released throughout the 2010s) and let it all evolve (sounds like a lost elemental track)
I agree with you. I got the SDE exclusive edition of the album with all three bonus tracks. It didn’t arrive in the mail until after I reviewed the regular album, otherwise I probably would have commented on those songs. I did like them more than most of the other songs.
6 seems a bit harsh. The album is full of hooks, it has moments of true beauty, ' danceable' passages, the songwriting is top notch, the production is great too...I'd give it a solid 8 or 8,5 out of 10:) I may even prefer it to Songs From The Big Chair or The Seeds of Love...
I’m mixed on it as well, but mostly appreciative. The songwriting (primarily from Roland) is solid and the vocals from both are excellent throughout. But like you, I did not like the modern production choices on many of the tracks.
Ok,I will give you the benefit of the doubt....why dont you show us all how good a musician you are...be it guitar,drums,bass,piano,anything....go ahead and show us all what you can play.
The first time I listened to this album, I was working on a website. I thought it was "okay". The second time I listened more actively; it's amazing. This is song writing like a fine wine - better with age, let it breathe. One could argue the production is not as spare and "pop" as their early albums and that may factor in on the first couple of listens. Great album.

I appreciate the review - listened to your review first after reading the comments below. I am also a fan of TFF and loved the new album; I do admit it has it flaws but as fans we overlook these flaws and appreciate the music they deliver.
Sure, and I'm certainly not telling anyone they should not listen to the album because it has flaws. And a rating of 6/10 is still a positive rating. I'm glad you loved the album, and I wish I liked it more.
I agree with the songs being in the wrong order. I moved a couple around and it turned out be a more energetic album. The Tipping Point has a good mix of new and old feel to it which is great for a band this old to pull off. Overall I say it’s a good album for not putting anything out in so many years. Here’s the song order they should’ve went with….The Tipping Point, Break the Man, End of Night, Long Long Long Time, My Demons, Rivers of Mercy, Master Plan, Please Be Happy, No Small Thing, Stay
Hi, thanks for your comment. as much as I like the band, as a musician and music listener I can understand your comment I need what TEARS FOR FEARS is TODAY. therefore, I agree with your mature remark regarding the album. we hope they do more, but with more of their face, independent of others. bye!!!
For me yes it was the worth of the wait. I listened to it and I loved it grew up with their music but hey reunion is good. I loved this Album. Congratulations to Tear for Freas
A great album, a mature album for all the 80s people it's wonderful. I give it 9 out of 10. The song long long time is the best because of the woman's voice.
I started out similar to the reviewer here, a little cynical. However, I listened to the album a few more times and it blossomed, similar to my initial listening to the Seeds of Love album, those many years ago. It took a bit for it to grow on me. I'm between 8 and 9 out of 10 for my review at this point, but I definitely think it eclipses TFF when Roland was solely making albums with Elemental and Raoul and the Kings of Spain. I do wish there was something here that sounded like a Top 40 single for them, so they could still be relevant with the kids of today, but I'm selfish enough to say, as long as I like it, who cares...? (However, this will still fall short of Graduate's Acting My Age album released in 1980. Yes, that's sarcasm, but if you're a true TFF fan, you should look up Graduate and see if you can make it through a few tracks.) Hope you all enjoy this album and I'd also ask you to check out the 1996 release of Saturnine Martial & Lunatic, which has some great tracks/B-Sides. One of my favorite songs is Schrödinger's Cat. To me it represents the most TFF song of them all.
Saturnine it's such a great album! Schrödinger's Cat is one my favorite too, that and My Life in the Suicide Ranks (love Roland uniqueness in there), Johnny Panic and Bloodletting Go (actually every track is amazing).
just sit down, listen to laid so low tears roll down ...nothing on the tipping point comes even close, this is where they should be aiming in terms of quality.
for the most part i concur ...although for me the opening track "no small thing" was a bit meh ...but yes patchy would be a good description ... with high hopes for the next one.
4:02 when a person/band states that they will not make commercial music, they don't mean that they don't intend to profit on it, is simply means that it's not the driving force. It means making music for the art, gaining some money in the process, but not pursuing it.
You are 100% correct. I would never claim that my reviews are “right” and anyone that disagrees is “wrong.” It’s just my opinion. And if someone likes an album more than me, I’m happy to hear it because that’s what music is for.
Imagine thinking a trumpet is a saxophone. Then imagine thinking this album sounds like Coldplay. Then imagine thinking one of the best records ever made isn't really very good. Three proofs this reviewer doesn't hear very well. Embarrassing.
Yeah this was an album that I got into pretty quick, which is not easy at all especially if the artist has not been together in awhile. But many of these songs hit me right away, I do agree with you on how artists always say "We aren't trying to make commercial music" everyone tends to say that, BUT for TFF they have not been "mainstream" in three decades and today you aren't really going to get on the radio, the only way TFF is on the radio is classic stuff, regardless of how commercial we may think they sound, they aren't getting played today unless they duet with BTS or Drake, and I feel that Is what they mean by "Commercial" as you cited Coldplay, they have not been commercial unless they duet with someone like BTS Beyonce etc... they rarely get new stuff on the radio for the most part anymore, they are far past what their time in terms of the public. With this TFF record I can't rank with others because they all hit me different and TFF has always thrown curve balls with their sound and writing and production. I will agree on "Happy Ending" being overlooked sadly, and for me I actually like that record more then the two without Curt.
I try to be objective... and maybe it's because of my age (I'm 60... same age as Curt & Roland) but this album has struck a strong emotional chord within me. Some of the songs have made me cry at times. I love The Tipping Point (album).
One time thru I enjoyed it. Too soon to have a true feeling on where it lies in their discography. A few stand out tunes for sure. Nice to have new music from the lads. Good review Kyle.
I agree with quite a bit of this review but would give it a 7/10 and think it's equal to Everybody Loves A Happy Ending. Id rate all previous TFF albums 9/10 or 10/10.
I really enjoyed your review, but I don't agree with it, it's all about opinions of course. The stand out track for me is Rivers Of Mercy, Break The Man is good, it reminds me of Advice For The Young At Heart, but I don't agree with your opinion that it is the albums stand out track, there's 3 or 4 better songs here. Please Be Happy is a beautiful mournful song very similar to Until I Drown which was a bonus track on the Raoul album and features a glorious trumpet. I have to give the album a few more listens before I can say where it is in my pecking order, although it will definitely be behind my favourite album, Seeds Of Love, nothing will beat that. On first hearing, I give The Tipping Point 9/10 Seeds would definitely be 10/10
I agree. I am a massive TFF fan, but this album just doesn't cut it for me. After all these years, I expected SO much more. Not a bad album, but certainly not a classic!
I agree with your review. Both Curt and Roland are older now and for me they have mellowed down and have rusty fingers. Give a few more months and gigs and i’m sure they would get back their energy and make a better album.
to each his own, but i feel like i listened to something different than you did because i like it a lot. at first i thought the middle dragged a bit but the album has grown on me and i like it from start to finish, especially the 5.1 bluray copy i bought mixed by steven wilson... it's great
Nice review, although you may have not "been wanting a return" to the Big Chair, I would have loved it, or a return to The Hurting. Their 2 best Albums, and always will be.
I have to say I have to agree on everything you said I also give it a six for the tipping point for me you didn't do it there's just a few songs that I like but I think it has to be with the production of the album I think they picked the wrong production everybody loves a happy ending it's way better for me.
Yep, it's not their best work. But still a solid album. Too many comments seem to think I gave it a thumbs down, but I didn't. I said it was flawed, I didn't say it sucked.
I hear sampling or at least influence from Magnet (UK artist) and George Michael’s Listen Without Prejudice. Overall, I think the album is beautiful and engaging, ergo I can’t get it out of my head.
I've heard most of the songs online already but just got the album today. I might listen it tonight. I have a few favorite songs so far but cant rate the album yet. Did you review Duran Duran's 'Future Past'? *checking*
Saw them live in Philly yesterday. Have to hard disagree. I grew up with my father's influence of vinyl and we used to listen to Tears for Fears in our record store. Ever since he passed I went into this album blindly not knowing what to expect. This is a fantastic album, it may not be musically complex, but I can definitely tell Curt and Roland have absolutely not lost it like so many other bands out there. It's a breathe of fresh air when music in general is pretty much dead. I'm planning to get it on vinyl, and I am sincerely surprised how much this ablum is growing on me.
The only thing I would have liked to see on The Tipping Point is one more rousing and poppy song…maybe not quite an “anthem” so to speak , a la Everyone Wants to Rule… or Head over Heals or Sowing the Seeds, but something of that nature. Perhaps it wouldn’t fit the overall feel of the album?? If they would have at least included “I Love You But I’m Lost” I would have been happy with that. All the said, I simply love this album the more I play it. It’s brilliant and moving. Time will tell how it ages and ranks in their catalogue. ELAHE is by far criminally overlooked- I thought it was their most accomplished.
This Album, in it's entirety is the best thing I've heard in at least 10 years. Feels like the album that should have followed Elemental. So, I couldn't disagree with you more!
Symon, I can't agree with you more!
I couldn't disagree more. The Tipping Point is one of the best Tears for Fears songs they've ever written.
Hands down one of their best! 🔥🔥🔥
I couldn't disagree with you more. I've listened to this album several times now and that doesn't happen to often these days. This album is A+ IMO and I'm glad TFF are back with new music!
10/10! Giving it a 6 is embarrassing.
Totally agree with you. TFF are one of my favourite bands of all time & this album is brilliant, 10/10 for me. Each time I listen to it my favourite track changes but I love all the songs. It’s great to have Curt & Roland back doing what they do best!
who is this Guy anyway??

Um, no.
10 out of 10 here. Best record they've ever made. It's fantastic.
I thought the same thing the first couple listens but as I kept going through it I gained more of an appreciation for the Curt songs. Very delicate and allow the album to breathe a bit.

It's at least an 8/10 for me, and considering it's been nearly 18 years since their last album it's amazing how they are still at the top of their game!
River of Mercy...chills! So beautiful
@@kimberlyhendren2097 Yeah, that song really grows on you after a few listens. It's deep.
Eat mushrooms and listen to Happy Ending again. 🙂
Let me know when you pick up Elemental.
@@trembling3674?
@@trembling3674 oh yeah, that is partly sense of humour, I should have realised instantly cos I do the same to others. Yeah good one 😂
New fan... Your instincts are correct, you know good music
@@trembling3674 Good kick to be on!
Agreed.
Tipping Point is solid..That's why it went to #1 in the U.S.
I enjoyed this album. I love Tipping point. My favorite is Rivers of Mercy.
It is almost like this guy has never listened to Tears For Fears before this album. Coldplay? Muse? Give me a break.
Calling Tears for Fears charlatans is insulting and not needed here. My review of you as a reviewer is my middle finger.
Wholly agree. Some tracks to die for... Rivers of Mercy/Stay, to just mention 2
I agree that Rivers of Mercy is great. It's my favorite track on the album. Although there's no Shout or Everybody Wants to Rule the World level stuff here, overall I feel it's a pretty strong return. I give it a 7.
Yeah, Break The Man comes closest to the old hits. A couple more songs like that might have helped them bring in new fans.
Not often that a big gap album delivers but this one is excellent, easy to listen to and deserves 9/10 .
I have to remember its your opinion, but its enough to keep me from watching any of your other reviews.
It's the best album I've heard in many, many years. Instant classic..
It's magical.
Who is this guy?
Sorry you review is completely wrong bye!!!
This album is amazing and I'm not even the biggest fan of TFF
I love and appreciate your honest thoughts and opinions on your reviews. Thank you, Kyle!
Thank you!
Very good point.
What a great album Rivers of Mercy then into Please Be Happy - fucking brilliant!
While I agree with some of your points, I disagree with your rating. I give it 8 out of 10. A major welcome return from the guys and most definitely better than most anything else being released at the moment.
says every fan boy on any of their favorite band
@@edwardmclaughlin8851 it’s a fact dolt…
thorough review - i was pleasantly surprised at the energy on the record and how it led to a pleasant listen - its a little contemporary pop 80s style but thats what made them so successful
Thanks for watching!
@@theshizzz But Kyle's a expert!
@@peterbrowning1251 I'm detecting sarcasm. Never been good at that! 😅
The craft of song writing is EXEMPLIFIED in "The Tipping Point"👍
Rather than following the status quo to appease the MASSES, they did the right thing in abandoning the earlier album to create something with substance.
Haven’t heard it but I’m glad the true fans like it
Some do, some don't
Appreciate your review..I haven’t picked up the album yet but looking forward to getting it..great video..glen
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the album!
incredible review.. Now where can I here your albums?? You're such an expert..
Ah, the old cliché “where can I here your albums??” Somehow the spelling error and double punctuation makes it sound even more naïve.
I’m mixed on it as well, but mostly appreciative. The songwriting (primarily from Roland) is solid and the vocals from both are excellent throughout. But like you, I did not like the modern production choices on many of the tracks.
6 out of 10? are you a musician to make a video like this and rank artists?
I agree 100%. River of Mercy should have been the leading song for the album. Agree?
It’s definitely an album highlight.
@@TrackXTrack btw. You do a great job at this. Really enjoyed your critique of their album!
Ok,I will give you the benefit of the doubt....why dont you show us all how good a musician you are...be it guitar,drums,bass,piano,anything....go ahead and show us all what you can play.
Thanks for trotting out that ignorant, old cliché. It never fails to amuse.
Nice! I'll have to try that sequence.
Hi, thanks for your comment. as much as I like the band, as a musician and music listener I can understand your comment I need what TEARS FOR FEARS is TODAY. therefore, I agree with your mature remark regarding the album. we hope they do more, but with more of their face, independent of others. bye!!!
Thanks for watching!
Always appreciate your reviews. Nice in depth review here...
Thank you!
It's Sunday morning. The sun is shining and we have this pearl of an album by tears for fears what more do you need in life
I have now listened to this album on TIDAL on Apple Music and Dolby atmos , A great album I think , the Dolby atmos is done really well
Steven Wilson did the Atmos mix, so I'm not surprised it's great!
For me yes it was the worth of the wait. I listened to it and I loved it grew up with their music but hey reunion is good. I loved this Album. Congratulations to Tear for Freas
Fuck me mate did you hear the same album as me?
🤣 That's what I thought
Exactly!!
A great album, a mature album for all the 80s people it's wonderful. I give it 9 out of 10. The song long long time is the best because of the woman's voice.
While you're making valid points, I deeply - deeply - love and appreciate this album. No fillers for me.
What “valid points” would those be?
Same exact for me. It took an investment in better headphones and a few listens and I became hooked.
It’s a slightly clunky return but a welcome one nonetheless. I agree about the next one: high hopes!
This album is 10/10 and this dudes a clown
4:02 when a person/band states that they will not make commercial music, they don't mean that they don't intend to profit on it, is simply means that it's not the driving force. It means making music for the art, gaining some money in the process, but not pursuing it.
Remember reviews are just some one’s opinion. Listen & decide for yourself. It’s a truly great album.
You are 100% correct. I would never claim that my reviews are “right” and anyone that disagrees is “wrong.” It’s just my opinion. And if someone likes an album more than me, I’m happy to hear it because that’s what music is for.
Rivers of Mercy is my favorite on the album.
Definitely good to have them back! Hope we don't have to wait so long for the next one!
I agree with quite a bit of this review but would give it a 7/10 and think it's equal to Everybody Loves A Happy Ending. Id rate all previous TFF albums 9/10 or 10/10.
We all pretty much disagree with you. This is a fantastic album. I am amazed that guys this age still have such creative juices flowing. This is rare.
Exactly!
If you're a massive fan, keep listening until you get it.
Better have a few more listens. This album is both mature and brilliant.
I agree with your review. Both Curt and Roland are older now and for me they have mellowed down and have rusty fingers. Give a few more months and gigs and i’m sure they would get back their energy and make a better album.
Yeah, they are capable of a better album than this. Perhaps the next one will improve upon this one.
the fans think they can do no wrong, i completely agree with you on every word homie
Thanks! Lots of people seem to be blinded to reality by their fandom.
Eww Coldplay. Really? Tears for Fears are untouchable!
to each his own, but i feel like i listened to something different than you did because i like it a lot. at first i thought the middle dragged a bit but the album has grown on me and i like it from start to finish, especially the 5.1 bluray copy i bought mixed by steven wilson... it's great
Nice review, although you may have not "been wanting a return" to the Big Chair, I would have loved it, or a return to The Hurting. Their 2 best Albums, and always will be.
Thanks for watching!
@@TrackXTrack I know plus you have the right to your opinion.
*checking*
I have not reviewed the Duran Duran album. Thrilled to see them nominated for the Rock Hall FINALLY though!
Way off the mark with your review, its a stunning album full of well crafted songs.
I know the reasons, but its always tough to watch/listen to album reviews where they don't play clips of the music - no matter how good the review is.
Yeah, if I could add clips without the risk of my videos getting blocked, I would. It's just not worth taking the chance.
Loved 'Woman in Chains' from Seeds of Love.
Read they didn't like the drumming on one song. So got a new drum sound. Must have cost a fortune.
Will buy it anyway. They are a great "band" and all their albums, including their solo albums do have great music, particularly Curt s'.
They do not make commercial music! That is why TFF are special!
Are we talking about the same album?
