    Best defense is not telling people or bragging about that you collect bullion and have alot of gold or silver at home. And after that you can hide it on hard to find places in your home. Regular burglars will not look for hidden gold when they break in and will probably just steal what they can see. So if it's hidden well they might not find it.

    Reading the comments, I don't recall anyone saying to hide or build the gold into the house's foundation. If you are a DIY type of guy, you can construct areas in the floors, walls, ceilings, etc. that look to the naked eye that they are part of the foundation. A thief does not have enough time to tear down your whole house looking for these spots, especially if they are not conspicuous. I read a story recently that a woman bought a house and decided to have the bathroom renovated, when the contractor tore down the walls there were a couple hundred thousand dollars in it from the previous owner (who may of passed away without telling anyone).

    It seems like no one in the comments has heard of millimeter wave imaging at all, let alone that there are man-portable mm-wave imagers. Look it up. Summary: Uses wavelengths in the mm range, which is mid way between visible light and microwaves (radio waves.) To these, electrically insulating materials (brick, plaster, dry wood, cloth) are transparent. Metals and flesh are opaque. Used by police & security services to search/inspect luggage, people, buildings, at a distance. If you are trying to hide something metalic, you have to be aware of this technology.

Some in furniture, some buried in the back yard, some buried in the mountains, some on friends property next to that old oak tree, some in the house, some in vaults in the states etc. Now at my advanced age, I have dementia and can't even remember my middle name or the names of my family. I don't even remember if I really did have 400 American Eagles of pure gold. I think I bought them from Ampex (or is it Apmex?) at 10 a year for 40 years. I do remember that one family member that I trusted and confided in, stole the gold from one of my staches and when I confronted her, she pretended that it was all a dream of mine and that I had no gold to steal. How can I prove her wrong and get my gold back? Getting old and losing your mind is what we all dread. Now the family is going to put me in convalescent hospital and fill me up with drugs. They call that place my "Happy Home" where life is beautiful all the time and I´ll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they´re coming to take me away ha ha to the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they´re coming to take me away, HAAAAAAA I guess all of this that is happening to me is a good reason to leave all you money in the bank for the government to steal for elections and your family to inherit. I should have spent my money on smokes, drugs, booze and broads. Now I have nothing, not even memories.

    Many people do not know that a 10 digit gps coordinates will get you within 1 square meter anywhere on earth. In the event that the military/government reduces gps signal (makes less specific). This will still get you within 25-100 meters. In the event the gps signal is completely cut off, you must take counter measures. If you are concerned about metal detectors place cache with a pvc pipe. Go to the hardware store and get a box of nails, washer, screws, whatever. Scatter them all around the cache about 10-25 meters. If anyone metal detects they will assume your cache is just more junk washers/screws and will leave the area. However, the metal bits can be used by you to help you find the cache location.

I eventually walked in on them and luckily they left quickly without an incident. After surveying everything they had taken and going through everything else that wasn't touched, I can tell you from experience they were definitely not interested in anything to do with painting materials and equipment, its as though it didn't exist. When he dug the hole 5 foot deep he put the gold at the bottom back filled 3 foot compacted the dirt then put the cat on top. Any robbers would be thrown off thinking it was a grave for a pet kitty.

      @@unoriginalhazard Well, goodluck to him when one day he will no longer be able to dig it up, because of some changes in that area, or when someone else happens to find it, or when someone else sees him digging it up and points out it's not his land and calls the cops.
      The moment you bury gold in land that isn't yours, it's no longer yours. It's that simple.
      Imagine owning a house with some land and a random dude starts digging in your garden, because 5 years ago (before your house was build there) he buried some gold.
      You expect me to believe most people would just let him do his thing on THEIR land?
      And since he buried most of his gold at 1 place (while deversifying your wealth is crusial in all cases), he can lose most of his gold in 1 blow (no matter how small the odds are).
      Everyone with more than half a brain (lets be honest, you know this aswell) knows that it is stupid to hold most of your wealth at 1 place. Defnitely a plce that isn't secure or even worse" *not even owned by yourself.*
      So for that alone, he isn't a smart man.
      You have to understand that people buy gold as store of value (longterm). You don't buy gold to trade it a couple days later to buy a TV or something.
      It's wealth you don't need for years, decades or maybe you will never need it. One uses fiat for everyday spendings. Not gold, silver, etc.
      Putting it in the ground that belongs to someone else, where you have absolutely no control over, for a long period of time, is not smart. Period.
      If you honestly think this man did a smart thing (after what I pointed out), no offence, but your definition of "smart" is far from what it should be.

      BumbleTheBard , If you hid your metal gear inside the severed head they couldn't move it. If they freaked out/fainted, you would get to have more heads to stuff. This is nuts. You don't store large quantities of bullion or cash at home or bury it. There are just so many ways that can end badly. But seriously, when the man has a gun held to your daughter's head and tells you to hand it over, well that is what you are going to do. Home storage is also vulnerable to accidents and natural disasters. No form of storage is 100% safe, but dividing your bullion up between two or three different banks and safe deposit boxes with a dirt cheap insurance policy is far lower risk than any home storage plan I can think of. Do bad things sometimes happen to safe deposit boxes? Yes. How frequently? Not enough for me to lose sleep over it. Home invasion/robbery/fire/tornado etc... those odds compared to bank storage are scary.

    • @jec1ny
      @jec1ny 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those kinds of events do not generally occur as a bolt from the blue event. If you see trouble brewing then you go and pull some or all of your bullion from the bank. So called bank holidays have occurred once in modern American history. As I noted above, there is no 100% safe storage plan. But based on probabilities, spreading your bullion around to several different banks in safe deposit boxes while maybe keeping a small reserve hidden somewhere is the least dangerous method I can think of for retail investors. Those of greater means can arrange for secure storage in bullion depositories outside of their home country. Though that costs a lot more than renting a few SBs.

    • @alan30189
      @alan30189 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Councilman Les Wynan Something to think about: My bank had someone rob someone else's box once. They used to let you in the safe deposit box alone to get into your box and do your business. Not anymore. Someone picked the lock of a safe deposit box and stole someone else's stuff. They never found out who it was. Now an employee stands in the safe with the customer when they need to get into their box. Or you can take your box to a private room, outside the safe.
      You might want to discuss this with your bank, or it could happen to you.

    • @sdbullion
      @sdbullion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We deal with this everyday in our own personal home stashes. 1,000 oz doesn't take up much space, like two men's shoe boxes at most if all coins, much less if bars. Between walls and in spots no one but a house owner (loved one) would know. Leave decoy stashes for worse case where some desperate house thief might score a few oz by ripping a cheap safe from your home. Document any serial numbers on bullion bars if you have them. You could even go as far as putting GPS booby trap of sorts built into packaging that a moron robber would take in a hurry. Home bullion insurance is also now available through our website as well for peace of mind. Not all in one spot, non-bank vaulting makes sense for those living in nations with ridiculous import export tax regimes, or for whales who are getting 6 figures and up in bullion and don't want that all in their homes.

Just get a good burglary safe and some fireproof bags and thank me later.

      Indeed burying bullion is admittedly a bit extreme. We agree walls and hard to pin places within homes is probably best for long term bullion storage. Again, this whole subject is about creativity coupled with common sense. Thanks for the feedback and your comment!

      00rphb depending on how much silver you have and what your concerns are (fire, water, theft) your going to what to get atleast a B rated burglary safe with 1/2” thick door (what I have) or a UL rated fire safe

    • @tylerb4994
      @tylerb4994 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      00rphb yeah it’s just a rating that safe companies give for safes that meet certain minimum requirements (1/2 steel door, among other requirements I don’t know off hand) it’s the minimum as far as security that you want to protect your boulion. Stay away from the cheapo amazon or Walmart safes, those aren’t even technically safes. They are considered strong boxes and can be broken into in seconds. It all depends how much money/precious metals you plan on storing. I wouldn’t put $10,000 worth of metals and cash in a $200 safe. The B rated safes are supposed to hold $5000 in value or less. If you plan on holding more than 5 or 6k then I would spend a little more and go for an actual UL-15 rated safe which is a safe that a professional actual tries to crack with power tools and can’t get in for atleast 15 minutes. Which is really really good because trust me, 98% of thieves aren’t professionals and sure as hell aren’t carrying around power tools. Also, this is very important, when you do choose your safe bolt it to the ground! I got the Stealth B rates 14x14x14 it’s a $400 safe on sale for $250 at dean safe and I absolutely love it

      00rphb ah well I am from the United States so clearly you guys have different grading methods for your safes over there. When I said 1/2 inch thick steel door, it means that the door is cut from 1/2 inch thick steel, making for a very strong door that is resistant to pry attacks. My safe also has an EMP resistant digital lock and has an automatic re locker so if someone tries to drill into the digital lock the mechanism will fire and the door will automatically lock itself in place. Be ware of digital safes with a backup key entry, as key entries can be picked and it’s basically the safe company admitting to you that their digital lock isn’t very good and will likely give you problems. My safe is actually pretty big and is perfect for my needs, it’s about the size of a really big microwave I guess is the only thing I can compare it to. I’m 6 feet tall and it almost comes up to my knees. I’m not sure about the rating systems over there so I would suggest you look into it and do your own independent research! The safe you linked look pretty good however maybe for the money you might be able to find something better! Nothing wrong with shopping around. I wish you luck in finding a good strong safe that will protect your valuables 😬

    How does any of this help in a fire? Will it just out last the fire and just melt in a blob where you hide it?

      A fire safe will keep your precious metals intact. Even if it melts, it's still contained. God bless and stay safe and healthy!👌

    Lol, those uploading videos about their gold, can easily be identified by google/TH-cam. Easy for a google/TH-cam employee to find all those holding gold at home.

    Everything said here applies to Bitcoin too. Your keys need to be as physically secure as your gold.

    DO NOT tell anyone about your precious metals holdings. Burglars can't steal what they don't know about. That goes for any other financial holdings.

    Hide them in plain sight. Burglars scout every room, then ransack the master bedroom first. Then the living room. Stash the gold in the bathroom. Stash the silver in the kitchen.

      RobShutt357 - did you have a stash of anything at that time? Such as gold or silver? If so, who did you tell? Tell nobody friend. Regular burglars don’t do that... you were targeted for the stash.
