WHEW, what a game. I am considering writing down some of the definitions of the actions and taping them over things just so it's easier to remember. Thank you for the tutorial!
That is seriously so nice of you! I appreciate that. Given the circumstances I was pretty nervous... but it was enjoyable to do. Thanks for taking the time to comment 😀 that makes all the difference
Wow I'm impressed. First time I can see 'through' the game thanks to your/this video, it provided 'the 'matrix' view. It's clear and informative, very well explained
Loved the playthrough, and I thought you did a great job... I think red sealed its fate when it made a revelation happen knowing blue would win it ... about 3rd turn in I think. I did get the feeling from turn 2 though that red was always reacting to blue... thats hard in an area control game. Also i wonder how much not rotating spheres influenced what happened... but totally understand why you missed it... lots going on. Thanks again, mammoth effort and great playthrough.
Thank you SO much for your comment 😀 This game was such a beast and I was really really nervous to play and record it.... but I’m glad I did. It was lots of fun. I also wonder how much not rotating the spheres changed things... it’s really tough to know how that could have really influenced it. But I doubt I’ll ever miss it again 😂 Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment. That really means a lot of me.
Great video! I think not rotating made a huge difference as the scoring phases became much easier to activate for blue, and red got forced to activate scoring suboptimally. Overall though the teach was really useful and I think I know how to play now!
Thank you! And yeah, that was definitely a huge mistake on my part.... I was frustrated with myself, but for how much work came before noticing that mistake... I just couldn’t bring myself to redo it. It’s a very impressive and extremely pretty game! I’m glad you stopped by and thanks for commenting!
Sweet! Welcome to the family! Sorry for the delayed response..... work has been insane so I've kind of had to put TH-cam stuff on hold for a little bit.... Hoping to be back before too too long.
I guess it's true that hatred makes you stronger. Various mistakes notwithstanding (not that I would have noticed them), this was a good video. It also made me happy I didn't end up backing the game. I love the art and the concept, but I would never have found anyone to play with -- and I'm not sure I would have ever got the hang of the game play myself. Maybe I should have just got the card game.
I do seem to dwell in hatred.... 😀 And, yeah, it’s a big one. I’m also not sure if/when I’ll get 3 other people (because I do think it is best at 4, for obvious reasons...) I did pick up the card game as well, but haven’t even looked at it yet....
No idea where red's strategy went off the rails. I did spot one thing I think was wrong (I haven't looked up rules for this one) - at 21:50 you say there's no vibe tokens on the Quell action. Does the wild vibe from setup not count for some reason? It doesn't make a lot of difference - 1 will power that could have been turned into an essence during the turn.
I may have misspoken... I’d need to go look again. The Quell action did have a token and was therefore useable. The empower action is the one that started unusable. (So many words!) So I may need to annotate that one. Thanks for the heads up!
@@rmsgrey yep you are correct, you do get the 1 willpower from Dislike when you play it, if you have a wild token on Quell. It is explained in the Emotion Reference guide
Thank you so much! Make sure you come back and tell me how you did in your first and/or subsequent plays! It's definitely an intimidating game to get to the table.... but I'm really glad this video helped!
@@TomTeachesGames after watching your review I parked the game on The table and we played It for The first time. Went ok but out of all The rules I could have forgotten I managed to forget to refill the Will power after depleting a circle when absorbing. So we ran out of Will power which did not help. Once I figured that out It went fine. We Will need a few more tries though but I think the game is great. Thanks! Regards Hans
At [32:20] you mention that "Gloom still controls the more intense emotion"... that might be misleading, since Control over Realms is always defined by the highest SUM between Gloom and Bliss emotions' intensity, am I right?

Thanks, Tom. So glad you picked this up. Your video has been the best, by far, to help demonstrate everything in the game!

Perfect explanation! Makes everything much clearer.. Thank you so much for this..
So helpful! Just picked this up and your playthrough makes me excited to get it to the table!
I'm so glad! The art and theme are so dang fun!

It was for the emotion that gives a willpower for each vibe on quell.

There’s a lot going on! Good thing we always get at least one practice game before victories “count” right? 😜
Thank you for your video.. better than rulebook :)
