True story: My wife and I were in New Orleans in Nov. 1992, and I wanted to check out the legendary Tipitina's. Turns out The Ohio Players were booked for that Friday night, so we went. Place was packed. Well into the set, during "Love Rollercoaster," all the lights in the place went out -- pitch dark -- but the power to the stage stayed on ... and they never broke stride -- finished the song in the dark. The lights came back on after a bit, and the band took a set break. During the second set, 'Diamond' announced that a fan had come up during the break and requested that the band play "Love Rollercoaster" again -- so they could SEE them play the full song. And danged if they didn't do just that. Helluva show.
I go to New Orleans a lot, especially to see the Saints play. I also love going to Tipitina's. It sounds like you went to a great show there. Laissez le bon temps rouler!
Met Marvin Pearce teaching him and his son skiing at Mad River Mountain Bellefontaine Ohio over several blessed years. Great people! Then to find out Marvin's world class music is the icing on the cake
a lot of groups were comparable in their own certain styles, unlike todays musical groups that play no instruments and have not much distinction between styles ...that's why the 70's funk/r&b/soul music experience was the greatest generation of black music ever...better than the eighties in it's complete groups and essential bands, and 10x better than the nineties...just my opinion!!!

Diamond was hired to tour w/ them while their drummer was out sick - in the hospital. They found out Diamond was not only a beast on drums, he could sing too. Once back in the studio to finish album they were working on, they had him sing that 2nd verse. He wasn't an official member so he wasn't listed on that album credits ....a few months later December, he was made an official member and listed on the next album Ectasy and there after.. By the way, Ima girl...my screen name is deceiving LOL. Diamond was a pitch 1st tenor (like Eddie Kendricks). But Diamond never led on Live performances I guess he preferred singing background and manning the rhythm.

I am not sure what this is, but someone owes the Ohio Players an apology. Love Rollercoaster does not sound right. It's as if a white person is singing Sugar's part. Something is not right in the mix. I've been a fan since 1974; I love me some OP, but there is something definitely missing.
