I might be able to get away with that. My job is always understaffed and I have a very solid attendance record. I'm also trained to work in two departments outside my own. The way to keep your job is make it hard for your employer to think about firing you. Ask for extra hours. If they need volunteers to work extra hours, make sure your name shows up on the list and do NOT miss the next offer. It keeps you on their good side. I worked a 41 hour shift over four days last month because one department was so understaffed. Then I got a 3 day weekend. Just avoid fights with others. If a department is too tough, ask if you can get out of it and transfer to another. I did that. Don't spend every day bitching and making someone else's life hard. You're more "invisible" that way when they start looking for people to punish.

Just keep it simple and play it safe: I would definitely set up a trust through which money can be donated to the people I want to help. Charities would receive monthly support which is better for them than large donations. No one outside of mum and bro will know I’ve (we) won and are locked in to secrecy. You do not sign the back of the ticket until you speak to a lawyer about a trust and your state lottery laws. That happened recently in NH where the back of the ticket was signed and the winner had to go to court to remain anonymous.

It's my understanding that as long as you claim a jackpot as an incorporated business, you don't have to reveal your identity in ANY state. There will always be a way to do it . That's why whenever that inevitable work conversation about " what I'd do if I hit the lottery happens" , I always say my first three moves are " 1 . hire law firm , 2 . hire accounting firm , 3. get on a plane and hand anyone that asks whats up my lawyers number " .

Go the double trust to get the money out of the public eye and when the money is over to your own personal trust, then speak to your financial advisor about dividends which pay you every month etc, as well as daily driver money to allow you a bit of freedom so you can take that holiday or whatever, however, pay off all debt first to be truly free and then enjoy the rest of what you like.
Depends on your age, I once read a book called Die Broke or something like that, and it preached the value of living well while you can enjoy it, not crazy spending but not saving it. What is the sense of having 5 million in the bank when you are too old to enjoy it? My plan when I win, live well, no 9 to 5 job, invest in people as well as some good ETFs, but overall enjoy life and the money. And Never Tell anyone how much money I have got.

Sitting around all day doing nothing is bound to get boring very quickly for anyone, lottery winner or not.

How could I budget on $1M if I can not budget on $100? Setting up trust with a payment plan, couple big purchases (house, car, trip) then X $ per month. Not forgetting a $1M home will have a $100k maint and taxes.
I always buy two lottery tickets with the same number, so when I win I can use one ticket to take half the money Cash up front, and then I'll use the other winning ticket to take the annuity, so I"m set for life.
I don’t think it works that way...I could be wrong. But I thought the only way you could split up winnings like that is if it’s going to two different people. In your case, it would just be you, one winner, one name=one prize. Again, could be wrong though..
I saw an interview with a married couple who won a lottery and their strategy was to split the winnings: the husband chose the lump sum for his half and the wife chose the annuity. That way the had the immediate cash for their current spending and the long-term income for and annual boost of cash. Sounds like it made sense to me.
Annuity? Hell no! Take the lump sum and the compound interest will make you richer than the annuity. Plus, you won't have to worry about the lotto going belly up and not able to collect in the rare chance it does. Why take the chance? Either way you are doing well but lump sum can make you leave more behind to your family when you die if you just conservatively invest and live off interest. Make copies, videos, scans of the ticket and keep it safe. Don't sign it right away as you will want to collect it under a trust's name and not your personal name. Get lawyered up, an estate planner and tax accountant. Give yourself just 1 million at most to spend that first year and 12 months later you will have interest on the lump sum you can live off of. After that it is just sit back and be richer than the day you won. Don't buy a plane, a yacht or a mansion right away. Learn to be rich slowly. Good luck!
Right off the bat this advice is suspect. There is no guarantee the funds will remain solvent to pay out an annuity over time. If the state goes bankrupt I highly doubt lottery winners will be priorities over state employees and pensioners. ALWAYS take the money and run. IOU's are worthless!

I might be able to get away with that. My job is always understaffed and I have a very solid attendance record. I'm also trained to work in two departments outside my own. The way to keep your job is make it hard for your employer to think about firing you. Ask for extra hours. If they need volunteers to work extra hours, make sure your name shows up on the list and do NOT miss the next offer. It keeps you on their good side. I worked a 41 hour shift over four days last month because one department was so understaffed. Then I got a 3 day weekend. Just avoid fights with others. If a department is too tough, ask if you can get out of it and transfer to another. I did that. Don't spend every day bitching and making someone else's life hard. You're more "invisible" that way when they start looking for people to punish.

Depends on your age, I once read a book called Die Broke or something like that, and it preached the value of living well while you can enjoy it, not crazy spending but not saving it. What is the sense of having 5 million in the bank when you are too old to enjoy it? My plan when I win, live well, no 9 to 5 job, invest in people as well as some good ETFs, but overall enjoy life and the money. And Never Tell anyone how much money I have got.

I always buy two lottery tickets with the same number, so when I win I can use one ticket to take half the money Cash up front, and then I'll use the other winning ticket to take the annuity, so I"m set for life.

Annuity? Hell no! Take the lump sum and the compound interest will make you richer than the annuity. Plus, you won't have to worry about the lotto going belly up and not able to collect in the rare chance it does. Why take the chance? Either way you are doing well but lump sum can make you leave more behind to your family when you die if you just conservatively invest and live off interest. Make copies, videos, scans of the ticket and keep it safe. Don't sign it right away as you will want to collect it under a trust's name and not your personal name. Get lawyered up, an estate planner and tax accountant. Give yourself just 1 million at most to spend that first year and 12 months later you will have interest on the lump sum you can live off of. After that it is just sit back and be richer than the day you won. Don't buy a plane, a yacht or a mansion right away. Learn to be rich slowly. Good luck!

Right off the bat this advice is suspect. There is no guarantee the funds will remain solvent to pay out an annuity over time. If the state goes bankrupt I highly doubt lottery winners will be priorities over state employees and pensioners. ALWAYS take the money and run. IOU's are worthless!
