#1 do not sign if you plan on claiming the prize anonymously. You can claim the prize anonymously in about 10 states, depending on circumstances.
So 35 states you can't be anonymous. I live in one of those. So, I WILL SIGN MY TICKET.

Hire a tax lawyer and estate planner lawyer. They can maybe tell you how to stay anonymous. Also pay all the taxes at once. They take 24% but it's really 37%. For the feds then state tax.
State income tax - if required. It’s prolly the biggest benefit of winning in Florida, no state income tax.

Here in Norway, and most of Europe, there is no such thing as claiming the ticket. You have to register to play the lottery, and if you win, the money is transferred to your account. Also, there's almost no chance in hell anyone can sue you for any large sum, unless you're married and divorsing after winning. And money in your bank account will never disappear, since even if a bank go bankrupt, there are security measures in place to protect peoples' money. Money in risky stock funds is a different story, though, but banks cannot do that with your money, unless you actually tell them to do so.
Buy a new house in a different neighborhood. buy real estate and rent out. invest in EFTs and stocks. buy precious metals and store in a safe. invest in security and enjoy the rest

Don’t let a financial advisor move money for you unless you 100% trust or hire them to teach you and you make the move yourself if you feel it’s good and advisor gets paid even if they lose money for you so be prepared God bless you all
If I won the lottery, I'd put most of it in the S&P500. Buy some properties to rent out. And spend only the money that I'm getting thru dividends and rental income.

cant claim anonymously in Canada unless you can prove its for safety reasons. but we also dont get taxed on lotto winning, but the largest sum we are allowed to win is 70 mil, anything higher then that for the same draw will start to go to separate 1 mill prizes. if I ever won the first thing I would do is go to a lawyer and find out how I can protect myself before I even claim the ticket.

Depending on the draw game and state up to 2 weeks after the date of the game
It takes 2 weeks for all the states that participate to transfer their part to the central location that will deposit the money into your account, after the 2 week it takes about two more weeks for them to deposit it in to your bank, so about a month
when I won $1,000 scratch took 2 weeks for the check to be in my mailbox.
Six to eight weeks in CA, if you win the big jackpot. They do a complete background check on the winner before they give out the money.
