I was too young at the time to fully appreciate Paul Keating. But his period as Treasurer under Bob Hawke, and then Prime Minister, were the greatest times in Australian politics.
"Andrew's best result, is to nearly win" Perfection. Dude these videos are fantastic, been through some huge crunch time at the office lately and listening to these is somehow motivational.
And yet Keating was very kind to Hewson after Hewson lost the unlosable election, and Hewson later reflected upon that in a radio interview that I heard. It was surprising as Hewson related what happened and that Keating could be somebody so empathetic in private and in turn, Hewson then being out of office, was rather fond of Keating in some things and had nothing bad to say about him.
"...Mr Speaker, what a lightweight performance from a couple of consumate lightweights. You all sat there last night while I reamed you out, point by point, reamed you out, you were sitting up there, the old bow ties, the steam was coming out when you sat before an industry group when I took you through the absolute stupidity of your policy positions..." @@georgehastings2263 School would have held him back. As an economist with a PhD, I remain in awe at his understanding of economic policy fundamentals. A genius.
What Keating mentioned towards the end of his reply has come to fruition about managing a crisis! We just saw that with Morrison Govts management of the Covid epidemic! Panic . What a Genius.
The great man still appears occasionally to give some muppet a well deserved flogging. Whether it’s some Sky News hack waxing lyrical on China, or a talentless ideologue scribbling for The Morning Herald.
I don't think Keating did the working class of Australia too many favors, 8n fact took his reforms and smashed the 7nion movement with them. There was a reason he lost the government benches. And his great pearl, if Howard wins government he will bring in a GST and Labor will never remove it. Labor kept that promise and the most regressive tax ever levelled removing the burden from the rich and placing it on the poorest of the poor, shame on you Paul Keating, shame!
Keating did the best thing possible for the working class and that was compulsory superannuation. Everyone got richer under the labor reforms of the 80’s even if it meant the rich got even richer.
Love going back and watching a true political heavyweight tear the LNP to pieces. But the guy in the dark blue suit behind Keating. Did someone bribe him with a carton of B&H or something. The way he's not taking any notice in proceedings and just fondling that thing.
That's a "born to rule" style comment, while forgetting the arrogance of Howard, Kennett and Griener! You could always see Howard's skin quiver and the contempt in his body language whenever he was with his most loyal "bogan" supporter base. At least Abbott could pull it off.
1:18 is iconic
Thanks for the timestamp.

Watching this recharges me with such great energy. Love watching Libs and Nats being Mopped up by Paul.
Doesn't get any better. 10 min of fucking bliss ! God bless keating.
LEGEND
Pure class
I thought I'd never see another PJK video tearing the Tories to pieces on this channel. Thank God you're back and I hope to see more.

What a brilliant glorious human being. Absolutely fearless.💖👍
Priceless! Anyone who takes on Paul Keating is asking for trouble.
Fresh Keating gems from the insult-mines, quality!

Lefties are by nature empathetic. The Liberals lack that and are more cold and cut throat.

He has his merits. Then again, the source on which to base material was rich.
Paul was an absolute genius
One of a kind considering he left school at 15 yr old .

@@fredfish4316 totally agree. Keating is a once in a generation genius!
Every word could be about the liberal party in 2021. They still don't have a policy clue among them.
The Lazy Nothing Party
He learned well from Jack Lang! This is how to destroy an opposition. What an orator
An articulate street fighting intellectual in a double-breasted suit. I miss him.
The great man still appears occasionally to give some muppet a well deserved flogging. Whether it’s some Sky News hack waxing lyrical on China, or a talentless ideologue scribbling for The Morning Herald.
All these clips are quality! Keating is the best, such a sharp debater. entertaining watching him rip the Liberal front bench to shreds 😂
Ohhh... this is gold! Thank you for posting. Love it.
Bravo,,,,,, bravo. Encore, encore. Paul is a champion.
There is absolutely no comparison between Keating and any Liberal. They are, as PJK said in May, '19 - "policy deadbeats".
I think PK is the best politician with eloquent skills (especially speech skill), not in Australia only but the entire western world.
Fantastic! Pure poetry!!
What a gem.
Priceless!
And nothing has changed ..........
The best Australian speaker tearing opposition to shreds.
welcome back @
AusQuestionTime
Where has the real Labour gone ?
An insightful upload, and a true joy to watch. Thank you!
Well, now that is a quality response!
Talk about tearing the Libs a new one.
PJK at his best.
Still rings true today, childcare costs through the roof, debt crisis
He’s a legend
Brilliant - thanks heaps for posting!
6:45 that's a new one for Keating
The ultimate orator
In another video he refers to a "common garden variety Liberal"
Gold!
Keep 'em coming!
Keating at his best when he is on fire. You don’t get such debators any more any where .
Was this the one where the minister for Mayo was dressed in drag 🤣🤣
That was a slaughter. No contest.
I think Kim beazeley had the time of his life
Where do we find Mayonnaise in the Member for Mayo...
How good was Keating 😂
They sure are a breed....
This is possibly the absolute greatest dressing-down I have ever seen in my life
I love the part where he mocks them for whining about the audience being labor 😂 that and “financial market yuppies”
God Bless PJK
Wow, the gap between the last upload was almost as big as Menzies being in power
LOOKS LIKE HEWSON DOWNVOTED THE VIDEO!!
Terrific, such a great speaker ! I’m not on his political side now of politics either .
Our adored eloquent and take no prisoners..our Prime Minister
Need more characters in Parliament
imagine this guy in 2024.
Joke of a party then, joke of a party now.
These were the days when we said what we thought and didn't tread on egg shells regarding woke B/S.
Go PJK
I always love it when PK starts off his speech’s with a stiff kick of the Liberal front bench.
You mugs. MUGS.
Best PM ever, 👍
So bloody good.
The joke is the morons supposedly running the place these days! It’s a disgrace. 😢

The arrogance of Keating protected by parliment
The breeding of Idiots protected by law.
The daring of Keating to tell it how it is.

@ Andrew Goodall Jump back in your box Liberal
It would nearly be a legitimate argument if in the years since Keating’s comments hadn’t proved to be correct…
He's basically Robert McCall (Denzel) or John Wicks with an oversized intellect in a double-breasted suit.
