      Do they breed in captivity? Most crabs kept as pets are wild caught. Maybe these are easier to breed because they are fresh water?

    I love it! And the pale shade of the wood that the tank is sitting on not only compliments the substrate and root system but also reflects the light just enough to illuminate unobtrusively 🤘

    I loved my micro crabs. They didn't live very long, although I rarely saw them so not sure when I lost them or why, but they were so exciting when I saw them. I would always check on them in the middle of the night because that's when they would be most active.

    Hi Tanner, did you know the "jaws" on the top of your caliper are used for checking inner diameters? I know you don't need super accuracy here, just seems like it would be easier and faster. Nice build!

    One tip, wet your finger with winded before you touch silicone. Makes it glide rather than smudge. Btw I watched all your vids, you’re very talented. Keep it going!!!

    Pro tip flip you calipers upsidedown, those two sticky uppy bits in the spine are for measuring internal diameters, like the hole in the bottom of the bowl.

    Amazing build as always. I'm so impressed with how much detail and visual interest you manage to fit into such a simple setup.
    Just fyi the small jaws on the back of your calipers can be used to easily measure the diameter of a hole.

    I love the look of those crabs, but I'm sad that it seems there don't seem to be any captive bred ones.
    I worry a lot about the impact I'm having on ecosystems, so I chose to try and avoid wild caught critters.

      I'm not sure whether they breed well in captivity, but if they do, maybe you could find them through a local fish keeping club? Many have an online presence where you could ask around.

    Pretty neat! How will this work over time? Do you add fertilizer or is the aqua soil all you need? Won't the glass get covered in algae? Seems suspiciously easy lol

    Also I'm not sure if you read these comments, but I have a suggestion for and idea I'd like to see.
    I have a colony of dubia roaches in an ugly plastic bin. I'd like to see if you have any solutions for a beautiful and natural habitat for them that would still be viable for breeding. They're the food source for my White's Tree Frogs but it's a shame they're living in an ugly plastic bin.

    hey tanner, have you ever considered scaping a tank for axolotls? i have a couple axolotls as well as other animals like frogs, snails, and a millipede, and youre my biggest inspiration for tank scaping. id love to see what you could come up with for axolotls

    Nice, simple, relaxing video. Someone else commented that they liked you leaving the sounds of what you were doing in the video, and I agree, it was kind of like ASMR but with gentle speaking over the top. A great little project.

    Thanks for building a crab habitat. I find crabs fascinating and never knew about micro crabs. I wanted to build a vampire crab or fiddler crab habitat for my 20 gallon high tank, but I think this might be better cause the tank won't need a lot of water.

      If you're after a terrestrial tank, vampires would probably be better than thai's. Thais are pretty much aquatic, while vamps are amphibious, but spend more time on land.

    Would you be able to talk about the Lacy Act amendment in your videos? It is worded so vaguely that any animal not dog or cat or livestock could be affected. Fish, reptiles, and birds and any other "exotic". It'd make for an interesting video.

    Can you make a video just about quarantining plants? Also it would be cool to make a few videos just showcasing types of plants for each ecosystem as well, how to process and select botanicals, etc. Great stuff you are a master at your craft.

    I wish that we could figure out how to breed limnopilos crabs in anything like a regular fashion so that they weren't being pulled from the wild. I spent a ton of time and effort experimenting with no success, and the only person with any luck at all is Rachel O'Leary, who has had a few one off babies and one crab that appeared to be rearing a full brood.

    What are the temperature requirements for them?
    I've had a huge bowl on my counter for quarantining new plants for some time, but as someone who loves plants I might just take my propagation of pothos and syngonium and make my own riparium. Maybe not with the crabs tho.
