    damn, he lived over 140 years and did not get promoted even once, but instead got sent from sergeant to a corporal right before WWII, hes a war hero who fought on juno, and they demoted him

    I absolutely love the 1885, 1910, and 1960 uniforms. The 1910 Parade Uniform is my favourite of the 3, I've always loved the WW1 collar.

    The FN FAL from the 60s & the 1983 Paratrooper’s outfit were my fave.

      I am also from the "FN" period.
      I was surprised to see the trooper in Germany with an FN but still wearing a "Brodie Hat".
      When did that change over to the American style helmet?

      @@1anre There is a very long list of thousands of different models of guns that are prohibited by name, rather than dimensions or function, and the FAL is one of them. Aside from that, guns that are banned are:
      - Full-autos
      - Guns that were full auto but have since been converted to semi or manual action
      - Handguns with a barrel length of 105mm or less
      - handguns in .25 or .32 calibre
      - rifles and shotguns that have been cut down to less than 26 inches overall
      - rifles and shotguns that are greater than 26 inches in overall length but where the barrel has sawn off to less than 18 inches
      - guns with a bore diameter of 20mm or more
      - guns that have a muzzle energy of 10,000 joules or more

    Great work! I’ve always loved to research up on Canada’s World War 1 history but I’ve lately liked looking back on some older wars all the way back to about the 1700’s

    Being an American civil civil war buff and reenactor, 1866 is my favorite, but I do love WWI uniforms.

    Splendid video and Great to see the Northwest Rebellion uniform! Although the Queen's own Rifles didn't take part in the Battle of Batoche, they were in the Battleford relief force who saw action at Cut Knife rather then the Northwest Field Force who fought at Batoche.

    I remember the olive drab when I first enlisted in 99. The web gear was the worst part, it never fit right. If was either too loose or too tight. And with the standard issue ruck sack at the time the butt pack would always push down and get in the way.

      I joined in 07. It was nice having the CADPAT uniform but having every other price of gear be olive drab was annoying. My jacket had a bullet hole through the chest and back

      Our museum opened in 1956 so we've had quite a while to be collection :-) Our most valuable object is the Tunic of Ensign Malcolm McEachren who was the first soldier of the QOR to be killed in action at the 1866 Battle of Ridgeway.

    Be sure you don't move around to much in the Para Smock or the snap fasteners on the pockets will fall off!
    I'm surprised the studio lights didn't fade it to white!

    Love seeing the military history from the Canadian aspect. Can someone tell me the name of the first marching tune. This music was used as the theme for the Australian Rules Football TV replays as the opener in the mid 70s.

    Gents, great work. Not trying to be picky but the bayonet on the 1990's fighting order is on the wrong side. Fixing bayonets is done with the left hand so it needs to be on the left side of the web gear. My SM senses where tingling. Great work.

    It's odd to see the Brodie helmet with the FAL. Something so associated with the world wars paired with a relatively modern weapon.

      Guess the new "turtle shell" (forget it's actual military designation) type of helmet had yet to replace the old Brodie "Battle Bowler". completely.

      @@commandingjudgedredd1841the turtle helmet in WW2 was the mk.iii, mk.iv postwar. Canada never officially adopted it but trialed it with the units involved with D-Day. A handful show up in Korea though those are likely borrowed from the Brits. The mk.ii “Brodie” was replaced in 1960 in Canadian service.

    in general terms, quite close to the models used by the brits, as anyone could expect, BUT the newer Canadian smocks have a significant difference: size of pockets. That is one reason I do prefer the UK version, I use such garments as a civilian, for outdoors (trekking, fishing, etc) and I love these big pockets! Is there any reason WHY canadians designed these small pockets? (reminded me of the old Italian army jacket) It would be nice to see the navy uniforms also.

    When did the Canadians adopt the Martini Henry? The 1885 uniform was combined with the 1866 Snyder conversion of the Enfield. I know Canada also had the Peabody, but don’t know which regiments carried them.

    I noticed two things. The fal rifle what's missing the base plate on the magazine and
    the C1 smg looks like the Japanese-made blank firing replica. The cocking handle gives it away as does the magazine. MGC blank firing sterling

    Question, since I know but little on these things. You are the Queen's own Rifles of Canada, if and when Her Majesty passes, and England has a King, would you become the King's own Rifles of Canada?

      No. We continued as The Queen's Own Rifles through the reigns of Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII and George the VI. And not that it would have any impact on our name but the current Colonel in Chief of the Regiment is Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who be given the title of Queen when Charles becomes King.
