True. Kind of like how I had this roommate named Joseph and while I was dating my ex he managed to trip and land on our glass coffee table and get shards of Glas in his eye. We took him to the hospital and they asked me some questions. It was then that I realized that I didn't know where he moved from prior to living with ne or anything else about him for that matter. I had to go out of town for a week and my ex would check in on him. He got a gotton eyepatch while he made his recovery but he and my ex fell for each other when I was gone. They ended up getting married and I never saw them again. What I'm trying to say is that if it hadn't been for cotton eyed Joe, I'd been married a long time ago. Where did come from? It is way too hard to make assumptions without seeing it. CarMax actually sells off volume. They don’t make as much per vehicle, as people think. Yea, If it has damage and a check engine light, That is going to significantly reduce the price. Especially on a luxury car. They can be crazy expensive to repair.
I have shoulder problems (need surgery) but I clean houses, assistant teacher, I sell Avon and the crafts I make. So, she definitely can work.

I’m thinking of voluntary repo for my car situation. I went from making 30k to 60k. Decided to get a new car since I could now “afford it”. Car came out to be 26k. 2 months later I lost my job and haven’t been able to find anything that pays similarly. I’ve been using savings to pay my bills, but I’m completely out now. Got a job making $15 an hour rn. However, it isn’t enough for the car. I’d rather pay my rent and other utilities first.

I had bought a 50k mustang. 915 a month. I didn’t get the promotion I was expecting. I totaled the car on purpose then I got a cheap Volkswagen for 13k lol.

@@ggdatboi Yes they transferred 11k negative from my old car then added it to my car that was 40k. The I bought gap insurance and totaled it out by setting it on fire. Everything is paid and I didn’t have any deductibles cause gap.

Dealer told my car is worth $12.5K. Sold to Carvana at $17.5K. Those online car company pays good amount.
Because carvana is an online store that doesn't have as much overhead cost as these traditional dealers. Carvana is a very good deal.
Which means you could have sold it for $20k private party in a weekend.
Carmax in my experience has paid around the same as Carvana or sometimes more. He also could have just paid too much for an Audi (one of the fastest depreciating cars out there) and now it's having an engine issue as well

Took me two hours to sell my truck to Carvana for $5500 more than I paid three months,earlier. 30 minutes of paperwork and the rest to dropoff the truck. Easy process.

Agreed, I had broke friends in the past who bought Audi’s and BMW’s and I told them that it’s a bad idea, but they wanted to look cool so they did it anyway, wasn’t long before they regretted it. Only fools buy used European luxury cars.

@@jkneeland89 European cars are the ONLY car that I would say you should lease if you want one just because you don't have to worry about getting it sold after the warranty is done - its already precalculated and even if the value is lower than anticipated because the car ended up having all kinds of issues - NOT your problem. However, a prepaid lease so you still don't have a car payment.
That's if someone is going to go European. I would go Lexus or Acura if I'm gonna do luxury. Even if I'm wealthy, I'd like the OPTION to keep the car.

We just sold our passenger van for $10k more than what we bought it for a year ago. Then we used the money to buy an older, less fancy passenger van with cash.

A $13k Audi is not a nice car. And they depreciate so quickly that it doesn’t take rolling negative equity into the car for them to become so underwater.
A $13k Audi a few years earlier was a $25k+ Audi. Avoid german cars they are money pits typically.

Cars are all expensive to maintain correctly.. I have an Audi that runs great in the 5 years I have owned it,and I always make sure it is roadworthy by regular maintenance.

I had 3 car notes at one point, worst thing I ever did. I wasn't making as much as I was before to be able to afford the vehicles. Luckily I didn't get any repos. I ended up selling my Daily driver and paid 1k out of pocket. My other vehicle got totaled. And I only kept one car (which my mother drives, as she cannot afford a vehicle and is my gift to her to have something reliable) and I got myself an old 1988 civic (I've always been a mechanic so fixing/repairing is not an issue) sometimes things just play out, but I refuse to get a repo on my credit.

German cars tank in value. It probably is worth more than $13k but probably not that much more.

Take it to an independent VW mechanic and have it fixed.
An unstable shoulder is NOT a disablity. If it is, then apply for disability and get some money in.
Running a cash register should NOT cause an issue with an unstable shoulder.
Take the car to auto zone they will run a scan tool on it for free to see why your check engine light is on

Those scanners aren't good you need a legit one at a service center to really know the issue...its probably complicated issue being an Audi
@@markg999 not necessarily just grab the code and leave or better yet spend 30 bucks and get an ob2 scanner or whatever port the audi uses. typically code readers can read check engine lights and if its something like an air filter you will be able to tell just through that. if its something more like it sounds like this guy has some kind of fuel injection problem or something having to do with low fuel pressure, the ob2 scanner will point you in the right direction. typically dealers will charge hundreds for diagnostics you can do yourself
@@stevencamacho6474they charge as much because you are paying for the experience and equipment. The proper computers ain’t cheap. Any decent technician will take your paperwork of codes and use that has scrap paper. They always plug their computer in to get their own codes so they can see themselves what’s going on. Pretty much incase it’s made up, got wrong diagnoses , etc etc

The only vehicle I have EVER financed was my first new car.
I have bought 22 new vehicles over the years since then.
I deposit money every month in an account.
I also don't need to drive the newest vehicle in the neighborhood.
I drive my vehicles for years and don't replace them until they are at the end of their useful lives.
When I NEED a new vehicle I find one I want and go to the bank get a cashier's check and pay for it in full.
If I have an unexpected expense I just don't pay myself.
Try telling the bank you aren't making your monthly payment because you need a water heater or need to fix a leak the roof.
Sounds like a misfire. Get a good code reader and fix it. Sell it private party and pay it off. That Audi probably just needs an ignition coil.
2015 audi stutter issue. Cel light. Get valves cleaned. Don't go to dealer. Alot of euro shops do walnut blasting cleaning valves. Check spark plugs and coils as well.
I’m in a similar situation right now. I was biking everywhere and had a paid off motorcycle as well. Finances were going well and I decided to finance a car with $0 down. Having an issue with the axle now on a fancy car and I’m thinking about getting out of the loan and going back to cycling again. I’m blessed (and cursed) with a situation where I have housing for free and live across the street from work. Trying to figure out how to get back to winning financially.
Warranty is so important when financing German cars
@diegohenaohenao3569 warranty is a rip off, just take care of your car. The mistake people make is they never pay attention to services and maintenance and make things worse for themselves. Now they gonna sell that car to somebody else who would have to deal with those issues cause the previous owner was negligent. That's why these cars get bad reputation.

Your mistake was not buying a reliable brand. If a Toyota was not nice enough for you you should had gotten a Lexus.
@@evoman44 Nobody remotely in need of financial advice should be buying any luxury car, period. Arguably not even a used one as a beater. They don't have the economies of scale to have experienced technicians and aftermarket parts supplies. You need need an old grandma Buick, an old Toyota Corolla or Camry, or old Honda Civic or Accord. Nothing more until you have your first million (or two) in investments.

Carmax will normally only give you trade in or close to trade in. That's not the place to sell it. Find used car dealer to help you sell it on consignment to get the most as possible and you cover the rest if it's any
My wife just got hired on with Kaiser Permanente. Her medical insurance is free. She adds me on for $150 a month. Best career move she ever made.
That is pretty comparable to most medium to large companies. I actually pay less.

It's sad that in the United States one has to look so much at medical insurance when it comes to choosing a job, rather than just the job itself. So glad we have universal health care in my country so I do not have to worry about what type of medical insurance my job has or my husband's.

A very dear friend of mine is a millionaire and he wanted an Audi or BMW until he could afford one, but by then, he understood opportunity and lifecycle costs too well to buy anything more than a lightly used Toyota or Subaru (his wife likes Subaru).

The correct phrase is "I couldn't care less". If you could care less as you said that means you actually do care. Sorry it's just a pet peeve of mine with that phrase and people get it wrong all the time.

A car dealer is not the place to ask the value of a car. Look up the value in the Kelly Blue Book.

The used market for an Audi out of warranty is never good. They are known as unreliable, super expensive to repair,and ppl are scared to buy one out of warranty. It has en engine light , 500 dollars would even pay for a diagnostics on an Audi ! It’s probably2-3x at the shop to fix it and 5k if he’s lucky . This guy would be fine if he got his wife to go to work 20-30 hrs a week for home, a bum shoulder socket is nothing compared to what some ppl work with every day.
9/10 it's the notorious vw 2.0 tsi motor easy fix it just has carbon build up until they finally fixed it years later.
I’m in this exact situation!!! I’m soon to be married and I made an unwise decision to get a Mercedes in 2020 that I honestly couldn’t afford, and now I’m assuming more responsibilities. I’m thinking of doing a voluntary repo. I don’t want to but I really feel like there is no other choice.

@@keakey18 No, I still have it. I’ve heavily weighed my options. I have 1 year left on the lease, so I’m just going to ride it out. I’ve been praying hard about my situation. I decided to go get a new Toyota Corolla and just drive that and park the Benz and maybe drive it every now and then. I pray that someone wants to drive it for a year and make the payments, but if not I’m being blessed to take care of it.
even if you do repo it, they are still coming after you to pay for the difference. Don't repo it. Just sell it on the private market or talk to the lien holder.

Depends on whether or not you want to retain your credit rating, how well you like the car, hate the car or whether or not you have a job to make the payments ? Personally, I'd advise against going to a dealer or a car lot as the sheep are being fleeced and taken for a ride without a car or a seat to sit in. Buy a good used car, have a mechanic check it over, compression test, kick the tires and give it his All State bill of approval. Use the money you save on future insurance costs, repair costs and whatever it costs for your wife to keep driving in a demolition derby.

$500 to fix an Audi. That might get your oil and transmission fluid changed but if any moderate repairs you are looking at thousands and good luck finding the right mechanic. When my cvt transmission went oit two mechanics told me it's not worth fixing 😂 It's over when even a mechanic tells the truth about your vehicle
What if you have a used car and the transmission went out 1/12 months after you bought it? It came with a service contract that covers the powertrain and transmission but the part that is broken in the transmission is not covered?

Banks should not let you apply for loans where the car is going to cost you more than 10% of your income.
Most auto parts stores will put a code reader on your car for free its possible its just something simple and a easy fix

What any dealer (especially Carmax) will give you is always a poor idea of an automobiles worth. And if he owes $22k, I doubt he will get more than $15k - $17k selling it outright. Used cars are NEVER worth what you owe on them unless you make a BIG down payment, like 30% - 40%, and don't drive it a lot.
AND...driving with the Check Engine light on could cause serious (expensive!) damage. That's a dumb thing to do unless you're driving a hooptie.

They want me to roll over the remaining into a 31k car and be in the same position I’m still in. Makes no sense. I was looking at a 2017 BMW X1 to trade down to and they said no

It's a shame some cars are such a funnel for stupid taxes. I don't what's worse a used car salesperson trying to sell one to you or buy one from you.
He could go to an auto parts store and get a basic repair code read-out for free. Then look for a mechanic if need be for the things you suggested.
A gas cap seal can make those things happen. Same with the oil-filler cap. Especially with (dare I say it?) German cars. I speak from experience.
Not only is Carmax possibly taking advantage of this guy, but his wife as well. Can't work because you have a bad shoulder? Come on now. Countless people have bad shoulders.

@@Sizukun1 It's all on what your priorities are. If you really want to work and put in the effort, you can find a job even if you are in a wheelchair, missing limbs etc. It is very easy to some people to come up with excuses to justify themselves not working.

There's ANOTHER book out--the so-called 'blue book' that says the car will depreciate over time, so the longer it takes to get it fixed and then sold, the less money the caller will receive.
Get your bill in the mail. It says coupon on it. Endorase the back and write in the amount. Its a live Money Order. Dont send a check with it. That would be double dipping.
I haven't heard such a bad call in a while. Dave is able to hear the caller, but he is not paying attention. It's an Audi with problems! Those repairs are costly. The dealership isntbtrying to repair the car and take a loss on it. Right now, the car is worth nothing.

I work with two Engineers that pay more than $1,200/mo for their Trucks. I drive a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2008 BMW. That allows me to contribute my complete 15% to retirement, and carry some Index Funds on the side, and our IRA that we want to pay 20% down on a home one day. My wife doesn’t work. There’s no need to, because we planned well. So all my off time is spent together, working on my marriage, and yes-Marriage is Work, and we should all be WORKING OVERTIME THERE!!!!! 50% of Marriages END.
