I was looking for TH-cam for a water bottle holder. When I found your channel, how excited i was. The patterns are very cute and easy to follow. I just started crochet 3 months ago. Even I could make one! I wish i could show it to you. I am very happy with my product so THANK YOU ❤
I had quite a big bottle I wanted to do this for so I got a really chunky yarn so I wouldn't have to do as many rows and then after since the yarn was so thick and I didn't have much left for the strap I just braided three lengths together and tied it on! Thanks so much for the tutorial, I love it! :))
I LOVE this stitch pattern! Just finished an all white one with a tubed drawstring. I thought I would stumble on the magic circle (least favorite to do) but your tutorial was great! Thank you so much for sharing. 🙏🏽❤👍🏾
Absolutely love this pattern, so so easy to do ❤ I also wanted to thank you for showing us how you do magic rings, I’ve always struggled with them and never been able to do them but yours is so easy! Thank you so much ❤❤
I am so happy that it helped you. I do tend to crochet a little differently than others. I just like to crochet in a way that works best for me and often others find it easy as well.
Thank you so much I just did one as you said I'm so happy and proud of you who helped me do this for my niece birthday gift for her water bottle holder.Thank you Thank you xoxo from PNG 🇵🇬
This video is great. I’m new to learning how to crochet and been watching a ton of videos. This is a good speed for learners and really appreciate that.
Hey, I want to ask you if we need specific yarn for this. What I mean is I made a bag from a tutorial and when I put my phone/accessories in, it changed the shape and I didn’t like how it turned out. It made the yarn stretch a lot. Edit: I’m new so I hope I’m no bother with that question.
9:07 - Hi! I have a little trouble knowing this part for the bottle..i am not sure what your suppose to do. Can you plz tell me whats the stitch pattern? Thanks. ❤ Other than that it is perfect!
i’m a super beginner and made this over the course of a few days. thanks so much for this! I botched the strap a bit by not going into the second stich so jm going to make a cute little padded piece so it doesn’t dig into my shoulder
Thank you for making this design! My school recently revoked our backpack privleges so I have to carry all my things and there's no room in my hands to carry my water bottle :( I resorted to a premade holder like this but it's not big enough for the waterbottle I use and has a tiny loop that you can just barely hold it by. This is a big help!!
I'm using lion brand 24/7 cotton yarn, it's a medium 4 but it's slightly thinner and I'm using a 3mm hook. I did the side row 2 but it was just flat and not curving. Shud I use Bernat handicrafter yarn instead as I ahve some?
You have two options. The first is to work a few extra rows at the base to make it bigger. The second is to use the thicker medium 4 yarn. The first side row tends to lay flat, sometimes the second will too. If it doesn't make the base too big then maybe work a third side row and see if that starts to create the sides.
Thanks. The other way works but it can be hard to remember exactly how to wrap the yarn around your fingers. This way is easier to remember. At least for me.
GOD bless you forever sweetheart 🙏 I love your crochet so good for cell phone too it's so impressive, organized & unique Thank you so much 🌷 Have a great day 🙏
You would have to work one extra stitch between the increases in row 4. The idea is to make 12 increases in every row until the base of the bottle is big enough.
Thank you for your pattern and very detailed explanation. They were easy to follow and I'm excited to do this! Quick question though... is this bottle holder durable enough to hold a big water bottle with full water?
The green holder is holding a 32 ounce water bottle full of water in the photo. The weight will stretch the yarn a little bit, so I really recommend using a cotton to reduce stretch. I am not sure I would make one of these to hold my 1 gallon water bottle as that would just be too heavy to carry on one shoulder.
I am sorry I don't understand the question. I am still only using one strand of yarn. Maybe the starting yarn end might have come up near my working yarn but we are just crocheting with one strand of yarn for the entire project.
Can't wait to try this pattern a couple of quick questions could I use double knit wool and would I be able to sell any I make on my etsy and credit you as the owner of the pattern but using my own photos
You can use another size yarn. You may have to adjust the base of the bottle holder but the sides will be the same. Yes you can sell the finished projects on Etsy. Just credit me as the original designer and use your own photos (as you mentioned.)
how to make the base more bigger? do i add 1 more hdc then 2 hdc for that row then for the next row just add 1 more hdc which means 1 hdc, 1hdc, 1hdc then 2 hdc
i'm trying to make this, and i've done two rounds of the sides so far, but they aren't going up into the bowl shape like in this video,. instead i currently have a floppy circle that i can't even mold into a bowl. i'm a beginner, does anyone know why this is happening? thank you!!
At 4:45 you will see that my circle is smaller than the bottom of my bottle. This is because the first side row tends to lay flat. If your second side row is also laying flat then I would take a look at your tension and see if something about this stitch is making you crochet looser. The other thing you can look at is if you are adding a stitch somewhere as that would keep it laying flat. I would try a third row and see if it starts to bowl up. Since we are not adding any stitches in the side row it should not continue to lay flat past the first and second side row.
How about this. If we make it smaller then you won't be able to fit the bottle into the holder but here is an idea. When it starts to get smaller, stop working in joined rounds. That way you can create a crochet chain and weave that in and out of the top row and pull it like a draw string to make the top gather and be smaller. You can then tie a cute bow to hold it in place.
You would crochet the sides rows to go up higher than your water bottle. Because it already has a slightly open stitch I would just weave a cord in and out of the stitches and then tie the two ends together to create a draw string.
If you are using the same stitch all the way around the sides should be the same. Do you thing you may have stretched one side by picking it up from that side only. Depending on how bad it is, I might just stretch the shorter side a little bit and see if that fixes it.
Yes, but keep in mind that acrylic yarn will stretch more. You might want to work less rows for the body of the bottle holder and less chains in the strap to compensate for the extra stretch.
It is similar to making a v-stitch. In the previous row we worked 2 half double crochets into a single stitch. The two half double crochets are the “increase”. To make this stitch look correct, in the next row you will work 2 half double crochets in between the 2 half double crochets “increase” of the previous row. We are not working into a stitch but working between the two stitches. This will cause the increases to stack on top of each other.
We are using half double crochet for most of this pattern. We are using US terms. Here is the conversion if you are use to UK terms. Single crochet (sc) In the US, this is the term used, but in the UK it's called double crochet (dc) Half double crochet (hdc) In the US, this is the term used, but in the UK it's called half treble (htr)

Everyone crochets a little differently. I make the magic circle a different way and many people think my way is easier. But if the traditional way works for you then that is great.

I would use a 100% cotton yarn. The brand is not important but cotton yarn will stretch a lot less than acrylic or wool yarn.

That is wonderful to here! I am so happy it helped.
I do like this tutorial!! Most patterns look they’ll stretch so bad, I like the stitch you used. 🧶💕🧶
The cotton will help with stretching. Mine did stretch a little, but as you can see it is actually a pretty short strap so there is room for stretch.
I'm using lion brand 24/7 cotton yarn, it's a medium 4 but it's slightly thinner and I'm using a 3mm hook. I did the side row 2 but it was just flat and not curving. Shud I use Bernat handicrafter yarn instead as I ahve some?

if I have a larger water bottle than the red one you have, would I repeat row 4 until I reach the desired size ??? Or what should I do. ?
You would have to work one extra stitch between the increases in row 4. The idea is to make 12 increases in every row until the base of the bottle is big enough.
@@WindingRoadCrochetso for example I would do HDC, HDC, HDC, 2HDC in row 4? Not do an extra row of that extra stitch?
@@WindingRoadCrochetor do the extra stitch in an extra row? I’m still new at this😅

It is easier once you learn the basics. It is an easy pattern but not a beginner pattern.
I am sorry I don't understand the question. I am still only using one strand of yarn. Maybe the starting yarn end might have come up near my working yarn but we are just crocheting with one strand of yarn for the entire project.
@@WindingRoadCrochet sorry, I should have specified. I don’t get what the 3rd row is.
Is it normal for when you repeat side row 2 that it looks kind of flat in the beginning?
Yes.
Will the strap stretch, I made a purse one time and the handle stretched that the bag almost was pass my knees
It depends on the yarn you use. I used cotton because it barely stretches. If you use acrylic the yarn will stretch, same with wool.
how to make the base more bigger? do i add 1 more hdc then 2 hdc for that row then for the next row just add 1 more hdc which means 1 hdc, 1hdc, 1hdc then 2 hdc
Yes that is exactly correct. The sides will be worked the same you just work more repeats.
your instructions are sooooo easy to follow!
Thank you. I try my best.
i'm trying to make this, and i've done two rounds of the sides so far, but they aren't going up into the bowl shape like in this video,. instead i currently have a floppy circle that i can't even mold into a bowl. i'm a beginner, does anyone know why this is happening? thank you!!

I would try a third row and see if it starts to bowl up. Since we are not adding any stitches in the side row it should not continue to lay flat past the first and second side row.
If bottle is smaller toward top and not using a strap how do you make it tighter
How about this. If we make it smaller then you won't be able to fit the bottle into the holder but here is an idea. When it starts to get smaller, stop working in joined rounds. That way you can create a crochet chain and weave that in and out of the top row and pull it like a draw string to make the top gather and be smaller. You can then tie a cute bow to hold it in place.
can i do double crochet instead of hdc?
Yes, just check the size. The first row of the 'side' tends to continue to add to the width as well.
Is there anyway to add a drawstring closure? And how would I add it?
You would crochet the sides rows to go up higher than your water bottle. Because it already has a slightly open stitch I would just weave a cord in and out of the stitches and then tie the two ends together to create a draw string.
I'm struggling with a size up in the pattern. Any tips on how to make the top slightly bigger than the bottom?
The best way to make it wider is to add an extra row at the bottom. Or you can move up a hook size.
hi what if the chain 3 is too big for my water bottle?
You can use a smaller chain.
is it just the same pattern of the side rows for small and big bottles?
Yes the pattern is the same for the side rows, regardless of the base you use.
@@WindingRoadCrochet thank u so much!🤍
Hi, can I use your crochet designs for my small business? 😊
Thank you and God bless!! 💙
Yes you can sell the finished product. You just need to use your own photos in your listings and credit the original pattern.
@@WindingRoadCrochet Thank you so much. 😊 Do you have IG acc? so I can tag you for credits when I use your patterns. 💙
I made mine a bit bigger for my Stanley water bottle (not the cup one)
Wonderful!!
Is it normal for it to curl up as I’m doing the side rows for the bigger sized bottle?
I did not have any issues with curling, but yours side rows should start to add height to your project.
Thank you for this fabulous tutorial I am really pleased with it.
I am making one for my friend and probably more.❤
Wonderful! They can be so useful and once you get the hang of it, they work up pretty fast.
i was doing the rows building up and i started to realize that on one side of the holder was taller than the other! how do i fix this?
If you are using the same stitch all the way around the sides should be the same. Do you thing you may have stretched one side by picking it up from that side only. Depending on how bad it is, I might just stretch the shorter side a little bit and see if that fixes it.
Great tutorial, thank you :)
You're very welcome!
can i use fine cotton yarn or polyester yarn?
I prefer to use a yarn the does not stretch a lot. If you use a thinner yarn you will have to add more rows to the base of the holder.
@@WindingRoadCrochet thank you
Do I have to use cotton yarn or can I use acrylic?
You can use acrylic. Just remember that acrylic will stretch a lot more. You may not need to work as many rows.
@@WindingRoadCrochet hey uhm may i know how many grams of yarn have u used?
Hello! How many gr did you use for both sizes? :)
Approximately 51 grams for the pink one and 77 g for the green one. The yardage is listed here: 1:02 .
Are you able to use acrylic yarn for this pattern??
Yes, but keep in mind that acrylic yarn will stretch more. You might want to work less rows for the body of the bottle holder and less chains in the strap to compensate for the extra stretch.
Wow the stitch looks so nice ❤️ What is it called?
I don't believe it has a name. It is a variation of the v-stitch.
@@WindingRoadCrochet thanks!
Hi can i use tshirt yarn?
Yes... T-shirt yarn is thicker, so you would be working less rows in the base section. But the construction would still work the same.
can i use 10 ply yarn😳😬😬😬
Yes 10 ply = worsted weight, Weight #4 yarn.
How many grams of yarn used?
Roughly 35 grams
Can you add a cell phone pocket?
I have seen people do that. Just make a rectangle big enough to hold the cellphone and stitch it on the front.

10 ply

You are not working into the stitches but in between the post of the stitches.

What is the diameter of the bottom of your 32oz bottle?
About 2.5 inches on the bottom. The base is crocheted to 2 inches because I find the first side row tends to still lay flat.

It is similar to making a v-stitch. In the previous row we worked 2 half double crochets into a single stitch. The two half double crochets are the “increase”.
