Arc 5 was a crazy change of pace within the novels as well. Arc 4 was a hefty volume of character development and establishing the dynamics between our cast. Now they are thrust into what is basically "The Battle Shounen Arc"
The VA cast for Re: Zero consists of some of the best VA's ever, one of many reasons why the series has been so popular, you couldn't sell this series without great voice acting, especially for Subaru's VA Yusuke Kobayashi, man puts on the VA performance of a lifetime when he's in the booth
Not just the VAs, but the studio/director willing to break conventional episode length constantly and cut out op/ed/etc for the sake of doing a proper adaptation. If it was treated as a regular light novel adaptation it would have never become so popular. Sure not all of the novel is shown scene for scene, but they do such a phenomenal job
Mimi and Garfiel are the same age, actually. Garfiel has been mentioned to be large for his age (being younger than Subaru), and Mimi is just tiny. This is actually a really wholesome relationship possibly blooming between two early teenagers.

Poor Garf, ever since he stepped foot into Priestella the city has been kicking his ass and throwing him into emotional turmoil. Subaru actually getting to Regulus with his whip and with his invisible providence was so satisfying to see (especially since last episode cut Subaru tackling Sirius out of the tower first in the loop where he gets hanged) The training for sure paid off even tho he couldn’t hurt Regulus it’s really impressive Seeing Sirius and Regulus beef was unironically peak comedy to me. I love how you’d think they would all get along and work together but they hate each others guts. Garf's story really hit me hard on this one. 19:20 Also Mimi and Garf are the same age, so there is nothing weird into their relationship from any perspective.
I'd like to add to the Garf crying scene because i love this scene: In the novel, this chapter is written from Garf's POV so we see his thoughts. When he was acting tough in front of Mimi, his mind was repeating that he is strong that he is the Gorgeous Tiger and when Mimi breaks through to him, he starts having this conflict that he's physically showing "weakness" while his thoughts try to convince him of his strengh and that someone strong shouldn't show those "weaknesses" and when he fully cries and he's calling for his mother, his only thoughts in the novel become "Where are you Gorgeous Tiger?" I genuinely love this scene, the development of both Garf and Mimi and it is in my Top 3 moments from arc 5
3:42 every archbishop has this weird way of speaking! sirius says thank you and sorry and having this like erratic way of speaking, while regulus usually starts with a "hey, listen." and talks about his rights. as for gluttony he usually says "We" or "Us" when talking about himself, he also says the different variations of a word, like nice, good, fine , delightful, etc. it's pretty interesting !
For the episode question This season will have ~38 episodes. 16 episodes are for arc 5 the remaining (current status) 22 episodes will adapt arc 6 arc 6 from the majority of novel readers is regarded as the best arc of the series so far. So its going to get interesting ^^ Now we have finally seen every current Archbishop in the show and all of the ones still remaining are in one spot. Thats going to be a fun ride :D And god damn Mimi and Garf are the most wholesome duo in this show and Mimi is a real mvp here. After Garf went through so much with his past and then thinking he is the strongest got humbled real fast actually getting to "fight" the strongest and now the sad part with her mother. Mimis support for him cannot be understated here, she is doing gods work.

They can only appear if they adapt the whole arc As for episode count nothing official has been announced yet but the most reliable re zero leaker that is basically never wrong has confirmed that 38episodes are what they settled at and is unlikely to change at this point so 38-16=22. So at most we can assume it would only be +-1episode for arc6
Let's goooooo November and 1st week of December, I won't be able to watch due to final exam that's including exam preparation so I wil have 6-8 episode pending the Day, I finished the exam.
This Arc (Arc 5) has 16 episodes (episode 1 counts as a singular episode) split into 2 cours with 8 eps each. With the second cour airing in Febuary 2025. Unofficial: Arc 6 is also under the season 3 project and in production, which amounts to an additional 22 episodes. No infos yet about the schedule but since production is already underway, we should get it next year if they keep the same schedule.
Considering thet the arc 6 is the most complex arc, confusing, gore, saddest, mystery, I don't think 22 eps will be enough for me. Because Arc 4 is almost same complex, confusion, mystery, gore like arc 6, and 25 eps was not enough for me. still there's a few thing that they cut off
The seven sins are: Greed, Pride, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, Lust, Envy. However, Betelgeuse once told Subaru that "of the six Archbishop seats, only Pride remains vacant." Meaning there's probably no Sin Archbishop of Envy (maybe because that sin belongs to Satella, and the Cult was made around her), and since there's no one with the sin of Pride, only 5 of the 6 seats were full. However, Betelgeuse is now dead, meaning only 4 Archbishops should be still alive. And now there's 4 of them in the city. The Crazy Avengers have gathered, it seems.
There are two more sins, appeared in S2. Pandora the Vainglory and Hector the Melancholy. And if you pay attention to S3 OP, there's a 5th Archbishop in current arc.

I feel for Garf as someone who lost a parent although under different circumstances I can understand how it feels to lose a loved one. But what a guy he really loves his mother so much that he doesn't want to ruin the happiness she has with her "new" family. I don't know if I would've done the same thing, so big props to Garf. you are right, common people like anastasia dont know anything past the witch of envy, so anything witch related got translated over time to the witch of envy specifically. i dont know where its actually revealed which witch's remains is under priestella, but we do know who it is. i wont say though incase its a spoiler for where we are in the anime

According to what I read somewhere, the witch who was defeated in this place was Tiphon, the little witch of pride who dismantled Subaru into pieces just by touching him.
Pristella is the name of the city. Per information we received a year ago from Petelguese- The seat of Pride is empty There is no Archbishop of Envy Sloth is Dead. So that leaves 4 sin archbishops that are all present in the city (Wrath, Greed, Lust, and Gluttony(whose presence is still unknown to Subaru's group))
It's actually satisfying to see Subaru not having to lie his way through to people. They are like, "wait you are the guy who killed Sloth? Okay, I'll trust your judgement on this one" Betty only needs one look at his strained face to go into emergency mode.

So since Pandora is presumably still alive, I doubt there would be an archbishop of vanity/vainglory. Also, we don't really know the fate of Hector, the witch/warlock/devil of melancholy, so we can't be sure that there would be an archbishop of Melancholy either. Also, just for the record, I'm just giving my theories here. I'm not looking to be spoiled, so if you know the answer from source content, don't tell me.

We've also seen a 'bonus archbishop' in Roswaal's backstory during season 2. While that was long ago, if Regulus remains unaged from Emilia's backstory, this other guy should be considered as a remaining unresolved plot point as well.

As for Mimis looks, we know from that one mobile gacha game that she’s gonna look exactly the same even after 20 years have passed from now. Saying that she shouldn’t be allowed equal rights to a relationship because of her looks is a lot more messed up than actually having feelings for her (if you’re her age). There’s a lot of people with a lot of different tastes, and so long as you’re not breaking any laws or hurting anyone, society really shouldn’t have any right to butt in. Anzai Chika (Sirius's VA) has gotta be one of the best VAs we have currently. Her other roles blew me away, I was so impressed I had to look up the VA and Anzai has surprised me 3 times (3 different anime) with her performances.

The pacing will probably slow down a bit after Episode 4 because for some reason they've decided to adapt Volume 17 of the Light novel in 3 Episodes (2-4). The other 3 remaining volumes will be most likely adapted in 4 Episodes each which is probably for the better
Typhon (arrogant witch - green haired and petite girl who appeared in Subaru's dream at the cemetery of the greedy witch Echidna part 2) once drowned when trapped in the defense system by Priestella. The reason the bishops committed the crime of landing was to control the buildings and find the tomb where Typhon was buried according to records in the gospel. As for the purpose, I guess they still want to unseal Satella.

Presumidly, most of Lugunica’s military forces are stationed along their southern border with Vollachia, due to historical reasons I won’t go into here. Out of this world’s four major nations, Lugunica has the best relationship with Kararagi, which is the country closest to Priestella (on the other side of the Tigracy river, which is the river in which Priestella is located). The royal guard is stationed in the capital. Essentially, Priestella’s military presense is probably meant for dealing with bandits, not the witch cult. Which is to say that the Royal selection camps are the strongest forces Priestella has on the defence.
According to Ice who is the source who announced that Re:Zero Season 3 in the first place and is the most reliable source in the Re:Zero community confirmed that Seaso 3 will have 38 episodes. The 16 episodes is purely for arc 5 and it's most likely that they'll announce the remaining episodes for arc 6 after the 16 episodes conclude

Season 3 Arc 5 has been confirmed for 16 episodes. However, the official promotional artwork for Season 3 supposedly includes characters that don't appear until Arc 6, including 1 that doesn't appear until the end of Arc 6 as I understand it. Apparently Season 3 will also include Arc 6, although they've not announced an episode count or schedule for Arc 6 yet. However, leakers have said that Arc 6 will be 22 episodes unto itself.

Every one we’ve seen so far is named after a star: Sloth: Petelgeuse (Betelgeuse) Greed: Regulus Gluttony: Baten Kaitos Wrath: Sirius Lust: Capella We don’t know the sin archbishop of envy yet and we know that pride is vacant but we know two more characters that are named after stars: Priscilla’s knight Aldebaran and Subaru himself. Although Subaru is different because his name is the Japanese name of the open cluster Pleiades consisting of seven stars (seven sins?) I‘m an anime only, but since these are the only people named after stars, I‘m sure there’s more to this

from here spoiler of the mother's backstory: if i remember correctly, gafiel's mother's parents sold her to a slave trader and from there some demihuman bandits made her a concubine, she got pregnant with Frederica and after that they abandoned her because of the pregnancy and then she met a band of demihuman thieves she was there for a while since she had nowhere to go or survive then after that she got pregnant with garfiel, she left that place since it was not a good place to raise her children and then roswall found them and suggested they go to the sanctuary and the rest is history it really makes one cry the whole backstory of garfil with his mother.
Some things that may not be explained from webnovel: Beatrice is a special type of great spirit, she CANNOT generate mana, she has to either steal mana(like she stole mana from subaru when they first met) or from anyone she is in contract with, so , only subaru. So , when she used the Al Shamac against the great rabbit... she used MOST of the mana she got in last 400 years. Yeah :D Also, subarus Gate, which generates mana and uses spells, is broken, like we saw, in the fight against Garfiel, when Subaru used shamac, it was his last time ever using magic ,his Gate broke and instead of it, the authority of sloth, the invisible hand, took place instead of his gate, so he cannot regenerate that much mana at all, so, Beako is quite fucked xD

Arc 5 was a crazy change of pace within the novels as well. Arc 4 was a hefty volume of character development and establishing the dynamics between our cast. Now they are thrust into what is basically "The Battle Shounen Arc"

The VA cast for Re: Zero consists of some of the best VA's ever, one of many reasons why the series has been so popular, you couldn't sell this series without great voice acting, especially for Subaru's VA Yusuke Kobayashi, man puts on the VA performance of a lifetime when he's in the booth
Not just the VAs, but the studio/director willing to break conventional episode length constantly and cut out op/ed/etc for the sake of doing a proper adaptation. If it was treated as a regular light novel adaptation it would have never become so popular. Sure not all of the novel is shown scene for scene, but they do such a phenomenal job
Mimi and Garfiel are the same age, actually. Garfiel has been mentioned to be large for his age (being younger than Subaru), and Mimi is just tiny. This is actually a really wholesome relationship possibly blooming between two early teenagers.

Poor Garf, ever since he stepped foot into Priestella the city has been kicking his ass and throwing him into emotional turmoil. Subaru actually getting to Regulus with his whip and with his invisible providence was so satisfying to see (especially since last episode cut Subaru tackling Sirius out of the tower first in the loop where he gets hanged) The training for sure paid off even tho he couldn’t hurt Regulus it’s really impressive

In the novel, this chapter is written from Garf's POV so we see his thoughts. When he was acting tough in front of Mimi, his mind was repeating that he is strong that he is the Gorgeous Tiger and when Mimi breaks through to him, he starts having this conflict that he's physically showing "weakness" while his thoughts try to convince him of his strengh and that someone strong shouldn't show those "weaknesses" and when he fully cries and he's calling for his mother, his only thoughts in the novel become "Where are you Gorgeous Tiger?"
I genuinely love this scene, the development of both Garf and Mimi and it is in my Top 3 moments from arc 5
3:42 every archbishop has this weird way of speaking! sirius says thank you and sorry and having this like erratic way of speaking, while regulus usually starts with a "hey, listen." and talks about his rights. as for gluttony he usually says "We" or "Us" when talking about himself, he also says the different variations of a word, like nice, good, fine , delightful, etc. it's pretty interesting !

As for episode count nothing official has been announced yet but the most reliable re zero leaker that is basically never wrong has confirmed that 38episodes are what they settled at and is unlikely to change at this point
so 38-16=22. So at most we can assume it would only be +-1episode for arc6
Let's goooooo November and 1st week of December, I won't be able to watch due to final exam that's including exam preparation so I wil have 6-8 episode pending the Day, I finished the exam.
This Arc (Arc 5) has 16 episodes (episode 1 counts as a singular episode) split into 2 cours with 8 eps each. With the second cour airing in Febuary 2025.
Unofficial: Arc 6 is also under the season 3 project and in production, which amounts to an additional 22 episodes. No infos yet about the schedule but since production is already underway, we should get it next year if they keep the same schedule.

However, Betelgeuse is now dead, meaning only 4 Archbishops should be still alive. And now there's 4 of them in the city.

I feel for Garf as someone who lost a parent although under different circumstances I can understand how it feels to lose a loved one. So since Pandora is presumably still alive, I doubt there would be an archbishop of vanity/vainglory. Also, we don't really know the fate of Hector, the witch/warlock/devil of melancholy, so we can't be sure that there would be an archbishop of Melancholy either. Also, just for the record, I'm just giving my theories here. I'm not looking to be spoiled, so if you know the answer from source content, don't tell me.

The reason the bishops committed the crime of landing was to control the buildings and find the tomb where Typhon was buried according to records in the gospel. As for the purpose, I guess they still want to unseal Satella.

Presumidly, most of Lugunica’s military forces are stationed along their southern border with Vollachia, due to historical reasons I won’t go into here.
Out of this world’s four major nations, Lugunica has the best relationship with Kararagi, which is the country closest to Priestella (on the other side of the Tigracy river, which is the river in which Priestella is located).
The royal guard is stationed in the capital.
Essentially, Priestella’s military presense is probably meant for dealing with bandits, not the witch cult.
Which is to say that the Royal selection camps are the strongest forces Priestella has on the defence.
