There is a good chance you are saying this because you want to agree with Hashim.
The woman asked Jesus to drive a demon out of her daughter.
Except you are saying she deserves it.
And if you think about it. Jesus didnt hide that He was sent to the Jews. In fact it was Gods plan that his ministry will extend from Judea and then to Samaria and to the ends of the earth.
I think as an isolated event. It looks harsh.
In the light of Jesus ministry. No.
It is first to the Jews and then to the Gentiles.
In fact..Jesus specifically tells his disciples to go to the Jewish cities and not the Gentile cities and later Jesus began to denounce them specifically mentioning Tyre and Sidon( which is where this woman is from).
Honestly if you know Jesus...he was testing her faith.
Its the same way he intentionally asked the Samaritan women to give him water.
Its all part of Gods larger overarching plan.
You guys like to use events like this to validate your religion.
We see the depth of these interactions
      Read it
-She asks Jesus for something big
      - Jesus did not answer her ( or turn her away)
      - she keeps asking
      - Jesus tells his disciples he was sent to Israel
      - the woman keeps asking
      - Jesus only tells her what she is asking is not her right to ask
      - the woman seems to say that yes she can receive it because it is enough to spill to her.
      - she receives what she asks for.

In Matthew 15:21-28, Jesus encounters a Canaanite (Syrophoenician) woman who begs Him to cure her daughter. Jesus initially refuses her request by saying, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs” (Matthew 15:26). Taken out of context, and especially in English, it’s easy to mistake this for an insult. In the flow of the story, however, it’s clear Jesus is creating a metaphor meant to explain the priorities of His ministry. He is also teaching an important lesson to His disciples.
Jews in Jesus’ day sometimes referred to Gentiles as “dogs.” In Greek, this word is kuon, meaning “wild cur” (Matthew 7:6; Luke 16:21; Philippians 3:2). Non-Jews were considered so unspiritual that even being in their presence could make a person ceremonially unclean (John 18:28). Much of Jesus’ ministry, however, involved turning expectations and prejudices on their heads (Matthew 11:19; John 4:9-10). According to Matthew’s narrative, Jesus left Israel and went into Tyre and Sidon, which was Gentile territory (Matthew 15:21). When the Canaanite woman approached and repeatedly asked for healing, the disciples were annoyed and asked Jesus to send her away (Matthew 15:23).
At this point, Jesus explained His current ministry in a way that both the woman and the watching disciples could understand. At that time, His duty was to the people of Israel, not to the Gentiles (Matthew 15:24). Recklessly taking His attention from Israel, in violation of His mission, would be like a father taking food from his children in order to throw it to their pets (Matthews 15:26). The exact word Jesus used here, in Greek, was kunarion, meaning “small dog” or “pet dog.” This is a completely different word from the term kuon, used to refer to unspiritual people or to an “unclean” animal.
Jesus frequently tested people to prove their intentions, often through response questions or challenges (see John 4:16-18; and 4:50-53). His response to the Canaanite woman is similar. In testing her, Jesus declined her request and explained that she had no legitimate expectation of His help. The woman, however, lived out the principle Jesus Himself taught in the parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8). Her response proved that she understood fully what Jesus was saying, yet had enough conviction to ask anyway (Matthew 15:27). Jesus acknowledged her faith-calling it “great”-and granted her request (Matthew 15:28).
So, according to both the context and language involved, Jesus wasn’t referring to the Canaanite woman as a “dog,” either directly or indirectly. He wasn’t using an epithet or racial slur but making a point about the priorities He’d been given by God. He was also testing the faith of the woman and teaching an important lesson to His disciples.

    • @DawahWise
      @DawahWise  ปีที่แล้ว +4

The woman already trusted Jesus and hence she approached him for help.
Would you refer to your own children as dogs, without offending them?
Pet dogs are still dogs last time I checked. No moral person will use such derogatory terms to “test” a vulnerable woman and her child.
If this was anyone other than Jesus, you wouldn’t be making 10 excuses if they referred to someone as a dog.
Now, stop being in denial and acknowledge this was not befitting of a moral character like Jesus Christ

The Quran says that dogs are bad. If dogs were bad in the story of Jesus why is the dog inside the house able to eat the crumbs that fell off the table of the children? Because the dog was the pet of the house. Pets are loved and cared for. Jesus was saying you are not a child with the rights of a child but you are a loved pet. And Jesus always said that he came first for the jews. Thats why he said first the jews then the gentiles. All the ones he was sent to heal by the Father were jews. Gentiles came to Jesus for healing on their own accord.

  • @abiryt3552
    @abiryt3552 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Firstly, it's important to note that throughout the Bible, the term "dogs" was often used metaphorically to refer to Gentiles or non-Jews. In Deuteronomy 23:18, for example, dogs are associated with the practice of pagan worship. Additionally, in Philippians 3:2, the Apostle Paul warns against those who "put confidence in the flesh," calling them "dogs" and saying that Christians should "watch out for those dogs." This suggests that the term "dogs" was a common metaphor used to describe non-Jewish people who did not follow the Jewish faith.
Secondly, Jesus' response to the Canaanite woman must be understood in its historical and cultural context. During Jesus' time, there was a strong emphasis on Jewish identity and purity, and Jewish religious leaders often looked down on Gentiles. Jesus' primary mission was to preach to the Jews, and his initial ministry was focused on the Jewish people. However, Jesus' compassion was not limited to the Jews, as we see in many other instances in the Gospels where he interacts with Gentiles and shows them kindness and compassion.
Jesus' message was one of inclusion and love for all people, regardless of their background. He frequently interacted with Gentiles, including the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:1-42) and the Roman centurion (Matthew 8:5-13), and showed them kindness and compassion. In fact, Jesus' ministry ultimately led to the inclusion of Gentiles in the early Christian church, as seen in the book of Acts and the letters of Paul.
The woman's persistence and faith serve as an example for all believers, and Jesus' response ultimately led to her daughter being healed and her faith being strengthened
Finally, it's worth noting that Jesus' response to the Canaanite woman ultimately resulted in her faith being strengthened and her daughter being healed. This shows that Jesus' response was not intended to be hurtful or discriminatory, but rather to test the woman's faith and demonstrate the universality of God's love and compassion.
In conclusion, when we examine the biblical context and cultural context of Jesus' response to the Canaanite woman, we see that it was not intended to be derogatory or insulting towards her or any particular group of people. Instead, it was a common metaphor used to explain his mission and test the woman's faith, and it ultimately resulted in her daughter being healed and her faith being strengthened.
Jesus' use of the metaphorical term "dogs" was not meant to be insulting but rather to illustrate the contrast between the Jewish people and Gentiles. The Jews were often referred to as the "children of God" or the "chosen people," while Gentiles were seen as outside of God's chosen people.
However, Jesus' message was one of inclusion and love for all people, regardless of their background. He frequently interacted with Gentiles, including the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:1-42) and the Roman centurion (Matthew 8:5-13), and showed them kindness and compassion. In fact, Jesus' ministry ultimately led to the inclusion of Gentiles in the early Christian church, as seen in the book of Acts and the letters of Paul

God has no sons. The meaning of the term “Son of God” in the Old and New Testament.
In the Bible, the term “Son of God” means a righteous servant of God. It does not mean literally divine son of God. The Oxford Dictionary of the Jewish Religion confirms that in Jewish idiom “Son of God” is clearly metaphorical.
In previous Scriptures, pious believers were called “sons of God.” It was not only Jesus who was “son of God” in the bible; other Prophets were also called “son of God.” For example:
David: Psalm 2:7. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Solomon: 2 Samuel 7:13-14. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
Adam: Luke 3:38. Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.
God has no real son. Jesus, David, Solomon, etc. were only close servants of God

I am going for a bit detailed reply. If you really want to understand it except just criticizing.
So, Dogs are refer as unclean animals as they eat their on waste etc and were refered to Gentiles and heathens because they rejected God and were in to idol worship( which God abhors), sexuality, sacrificing their childrens to other gods.
Thats why Jesus refered her as dogs plus Jesus also healed her daughter afterwards after seeing her Faith.
More over children of God are referred to Israelites because they were the chosen ones at the time of Babel when other nations were given to other gods and YAHWEH( OUR God) chose Israel for himself and there was the big partition.
I would recommend you to read the event that happened at the tower of Babel.

The problem is you didn’t finish the story where Jesus helped her in respond to her faith. So if he was so racist why did he end up healing her daughter. More than half of the people he healed where gentiles, he fed 4,000 gentiles. He came to find Israel’s lost sheep but his love was for every human being Jew or gentile. I believe you’re using this verse to stir up a version of Christ that is outright blasphemy. Be careful, brother this life is short compared to eternity. And every thing you say will be held against you when Christ comes to Judge the world. I’ll pray for you.

Then what should we say when God tested Abraham's faith by commanding him to sacrifice his beloved son as an offering? That, how could a just and righteous God want a father to shed the blood of his beloved son as an offering? Is God a demon? Certainly not!
If Jesus was a racist since he, like a racist Jew, called a gentile woman "dog" then according to muslims' logic God would be a demon since he as a demon/false god asked for child sacrifice!!
      Kindly go through this 👇
Just as Abraham was hopeful that he won't lose his beloved son no matter what will be the consequence of obeying God's command, so was the hope of that gentile woman that she will at least have her daughter healed no matter what will be the consequence of admitting that she was still "a little dog". (what are crumbs in comparison to bread?- by asking for the crumb the woman didnt mean her child will be healed completely but at least get relief from the pain and suffering she was going through)
But at the end we see the gentile woman didn't get the crumb but the bread which was only for the children-which means she was no longer a gentile but had become one of the children of God, because her request was fully granted and she became an example of extraordinary faith like Abraham.

Jews considered gentiles as “dogs.” To call a person a “dog” was a severe insult. The Jews used phrases like, “gentile dog,” “infidel dog” and later, “Christian dog.” However, Jesus used the diminutive form for “dog,” better translated as “puppy.” So instead of calling her the insulting “junk yard dog,” He calls her “lovable puppy.” (Keep in mind the English translation misses this distinction from the original Greek text.)
One would also have to ponder about how Jesus said this phrase. He must not have said “dog” with contempt or scorn. Rather, He probably said it tongue-in-cheek. For instance, to call someone a “rascal” literally would be derogatory, but I remember calling my nephew (when he was a toddler) “you little rascal,” of course in a loving way. Our Lord may even have been criticizing the normal Jewish parlance.

    Stop misinterpreting bible verses LoL
He didn’t said dog as a racist term , he used a word picture which alluded to attitudes common at the time to test her faith, by inferring that he wouldn’t accede to her requests.
When she showed faith, however, and respectfully challenged what he said, he recognised her faith and did as she asked.
Framing the Bible in today’s understanding of society, culture and indeed the meanings and association of words is hugely reductive. This is nearly 2000 years ago we’re talking about here, in a patriarchal homocentric culture which reduced women to second or third class citizens. By contrast, Jesus honoured and respected women, and many of his disciples were women.
Taken out of context, and especially in English, it’s easy to mistake this for an insult. In the flow of the story, however, it’s clear Jesus is creating a metaphor meant to explain the priorities of His ministry. He is also teaching an important lesson to His disciples.
Also The exact word Jesus used here, in Greek, was kunarion, which could also be translated as “puppy” or “pet dog.” This is a completely different word from the term kuon, used to refer to unspiritual people or to an “unclean” animal.
And Indeed, it was women who were privileged to first receive the good news of his resurrection, directly from an angel.
    (Matthew 15:23-28; 28:3-15; Mark 7:30; 16:5-8; Luke 24:4-12; John 20:2-18)

Jesus was not racist check out the story of Samaritan women at the well John 4:4-42
In that it is worth mentioning that Jesus, being a Jew, did not carry the discriminatory attitude and beliefs of His religious brothers and sisters. Being the Son of God, He saw the inner workings of a person, their heart, and not the racial tribe and customs which they belonged. The Samaritans were despised by the Jews. She was a Samaritan(basically gentile). And she was also a woman. It was scandalous in this time and culture for a man to be alone with a woman. So here Jesus is, not only stopping to talk to a Samaritan, but a Samaritan woman.
Jesus saw her, He saw her with the eyes of His Spirit. A Spirit that lives in God, is God. He saw a woman before him, having had several illegitimate husbands, who was still unsatisfied and yearning for the Truth and, like the Jews, waiting for the promised Messiah. Jesus knew all this about her; her personal history and her sincerity and inner longing.
The Samaritan woman offered Jesus physical water to quench His thirst from the midday sun. He, on the otherhand, spoke metaphorically and offered her the Water of Life, a spiritual water. Not like the H2O that satiates our thirst for a finite time, but a spiritual water that fills us up so we may never be thirsty again! He was offering her Himself, a profound spiritual relationship with Him that would satisfy her where no earthly substitute, this far, could. He said to her, “I am HE, the One you have been waiting for!”.
The woman understood well Christ's language and she spread the word to her townsfolk who opened their hearts to Him and became His followers. For Jesus knows our hearts better than anyone else, even those nearest to us, and His judgements are true and just.
