    Man There is nothing in our universe that sounds better or shakes the ground harder than an enormously huge cubed blown big block with twin carb set up. Inj would’ve started this beast quicker perhaps, but that sound is worth the wait of it cranking to life! The feeling to drive that puppy on the street would almost be better than sex, almost

    Just a few things to add...
    68 and 69 Camaros didn’t have no-draft windows, they have a one piece door glass that Chevrolet called Astro Ventilation, and a 69’s front and rear panels are completely different so this one would be a 67 Camaro unless they swapped doors!
    With the ignition switch off, (mostly race cars) spinning the engine over builds oil pressure, once you see some movement on your oil pressure gauge you switch on the ignition, pump the throttle a couple of times and then fire the engine... saves the bearings in your very expensive or high compression engine from dry start scuffs! It’s a very common thing to do in sportsman drag racing!
    That car may run 6’s, doubtful, probably 9’s to high 8’s. To run quicker than 8.50’s at most North American tracks (last time I checked) you need an SFI certified chassis! An SFI chassis requires more, specific, bars and a drivers “funny car” hoop as part of the cage! That car only has a standard NHRA cage, not near enough bars for an SFI cage, so 8.50’s or slower!
    Blower surge can usually be tuned out of a blower engine if wanted, it’s more of an owners or drivers personal preference. The idle is just hunting or surging because at idle the fuel mixture will tend to vary, it’s not hurting anything! Fuel systems on blown drag cars aren’t usually tuned for drive-ability or to just sit and idle they’re tuned more towards wide open throttle power for ¼ mile! Pro street applications may be tuned a little finer, nicer idle and better part throttle drive-ability but who cares about that stuff if you just want to launch hard and go really, really fast! Lol!
    And it’s doubtful he’s driving very far, probably just outside to the trailer for the ride home, so hood open a crack but trunk closed, so he can see a little when backing up, is pretty standard when leaving a car show!
    Definitely a nice ride! Vroom, vroom!

      @@dons1932 You have no idea what your talking about do you, another armchair race car builder. How many "poorly tuned" cars run 6 second quarter miles? I have seen this car carry the front wheels for an 1/8 mile.

      @dons1932 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@andrea4809 It's 'you're'. As in, 'you're an idiot, andrea4809'.
      Plenty of them. I worked at TBS. We sold the damned blowers that are probably on this damn car. In the right hands almost all surge can be tuned out, which is why 3000hp Top Doorslammers even lack it to any great degree. Fast cars can still be poorly tuned. The two are not synonymous. It is good tuning that makes a car idle well, start easier, and drive easier. The little things.
      The weekend warrior/armchair racer/Hot Rod reader loves the surge. The knowledgable racer/enthusiast/crew chief hates it.

    • @tylerbonser7686
      @tylerbonser7686 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes e85 evaporates quick but unless he has a very leaky carb the fuel isn't going to evaporate. The only reason fuel should escape the carb is if the throttle is opened. My car runs on e85, well actually more around e90 or a bit more but it can sit for a month and fire up with 4 pumps and on the first hit.
