    Lets start the New Year off with some awesome miniatures 🙂

    For anyone who has issues with the Wizkids primer, I recommend washing and scrubbing the minis with warm soapy water. Get as much of their primer off as possible and scape it's rock base bottom clean as that is also primed. Cleaning that bit off make it adheres to the base way better. I do prime the minis with Citadel primer after cleaning them. Hope this helps

      Pre-primed anything is always awful. They use the cheapest primer possible. I've had to do my own priming on "pre-primed" canvas for the same reasons. The reason you prime a surface is to seal it in order to prevent contaminants from seeping into your paint and to provide a smooth surface paint sticks to so your brush feels like a fountain pen. These guys seem to forget that (or just don't know?) and it feels like they just sprayed white craft paint all over everything.

      Yeah the primer did seem a bit greasy but I was able to prime them with my cheap primer easy enough =)

      Sorry, but I have to say this... Citadel spray is not primer, it's spray paint. Paint and primer are very different things.

      @@arthwenlionheart912 Fair enough. Sorry, for some reason it's a bit of a peeve of mine, probably because they won't stop referring to it as primer at GW stores I've been to. :p

    Absolutely interested in seeing you play D&D. I've played since I was a kid way back in the days of 3.5. I've watched Critical Role since about halfway thru their first campaign. I will definitely support this idea. Would love to see it.

    That big guy you painted is actually from campaign 2
    But both seasons are worth watching, and c3 only has 8 or 9 episodes currently, so if you're looking to get into critical role, that's also an option

    I never used wizkids minis myself but I heard people like to give them a wash and a scrub before painting because they tend to form a top layer that doesn't let paint stick properly.
    The bugbears came out really nice by the way.

    Awesome! Looks to be mostly if not all figures from the continent of Wildemount, where the second campaign of Critical Role takes place.

      Yeah I think I got confused as this is from wave 1 and not campaign 1 lol =P

    AFAIK, WizKids and Reaper use vinyl for these types of minis.
    That brown came out awesome on the cloak...absolutely seamless blend from beige to brown.

      Ahh vinyl, okies. Yeah I liked the cloak too lol, so easy to do =)

    Definitely would be interested for your streaming campaign! Seeing these and your terrain builds in game would be great. What edition do you play?

    I have had a similar problem with the primer wizkids uses a few times(the problem occurring with normal army painter paints). I either have to wash the mini in warm water, or I use matt black thinned out as a ink.

    Hmm, these look a lot better than the previous D&D models that Wizkids had, which are also ones that seem to be the most available where I live. What keeps me away from picking any up was that whenever I saw ones with any sort of longer weapons, they were always bent, and the sculpts themselves weren't really that interesting.

    Wizkids minis always need a wash before painting in my experience regardless of what they claim to the contrary. Not necessarily needing a scrubbing from my experience but definitely a soak in soapy water and a rub down. For some reason the primer seems hydrophobic straight out of the package.

    Seeing DnD minis of a higher quality is reassuring, having seen tons of Warhammer models and only "bendy" dnd figurines.
    I would love to see more of a 3d print theme for minis, like the beholder. Just to see what people craft and how its made to look afterward. If not, general mini painting is good enough, next to reviewing miniatures.

      Ive a ton of 3D printed minis, my 3D printer is on most days lol, Ive just built a nice way of storing and displaying minis, the video will be out soon =)

    Never been a huge fan of wizz kids but they do seem to be getting better. The primer they use is horrid though but easy to sort,tip with the speed paints,shoot a black primer first then throw a zenithal white from the top,doubles the contrast for hardly any extra effort. I'd give a DND stream a shot.

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    WizKids has some pretty nice & cheap monsters, but usually their human/like minis are not very good ( usually too small). These ones look better. Also id say most of these are inspired by the second critical role campaign

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The human figures are the same size of my printed ones which is cool, I will need to watch all the 2nd campaign too =)

    Nice video and great paint jobs. Thanks for posting. Just a niggle here though (not aimed at the OP). Wizkids are great at sending freebies to youtubers and the like to get some coverage but they're not so good at actually supplying the minis to us joe public. My Frameworks have been on order since before the end of December (I have already paid for them) and I was promised a release date of 31st January. Now I keep hearing March or the end of March. Surely they should prioritize the peeps who are actually paying for their stuff ? Come on Wizkids pull your fingers out.
