Saw them in Gothenburg at Metaltown in 2006 (I think). The rain poured down while they played and the spotlights made you see every falling raindrop. It was frakkin beautiful!
I am so relieved to be validated in my love of Toejam and Earl. I remember next to nothing about them or the game except that the music was super funky.
I've been in love with Shanalogic stuff since forever, it's so awesome you've discovered the site! I've only gotten one thing from there, but as soon as I get more money I'm going to buy a pair of capacitor earrings.
Wicked find with the bookshelves, Felicia, thanks! I had to share that with my friends of the library group. I know I spent way too much time reviewing the photos lol.
For those not old enough to remember, in the 70's there was a Violin Rock Band from England known as the Electric Light Orchestra. They were quite popular.
I was thinking the same thing!! As soon as it showed her, i immediately paused, and went to other videos with her to compare her hair. This is fricken craziness!!!!
I'm glad you guys enjoyed Toejam and Earl in the end. Although, what you played was actually the second Toejam and Earl game. The first one was even better!
I have very fond memories of Toejam and Earl 2. It was the first game I ever completed, and was played entirely in two player mode with my best friend over a period of weeks consisting of many sleep overs.
one of the best games ever the sequals dont do it justice i can remember going to my friend johnnys house and playing all the way through awesome game toe jam earl
Nostalgia bomb! As a kid, I played through both TJ&E games with my mom. Great bonding moments for me growing up. (BTW the first game was even MORE obscure and esoteric, and played a lot like Diablo, in fact. Panic on Funkotron was a fairly traditional platformer by comparison.)
I personally recommend "Fire on High" found here on TH-cam. I'd post a link but TH-cam won't let me. Remember, choose the full length version. It's just over five minutes in length
I would play the first Toejam & Earl with my brother and my cousins when we were little lol. We also played the one for XBox too. Toejam and Earl is amazing! :D
There already is a rock n' roll string quartet (well, they draw from other genres as well) named bond (lower case 'B'). They're very entertaining, among other things...
TJ&E was so much more interesting than all the other jump-n-shoot side scrollers of the time, and even now. There were so many things to do and so many secrets in every level. I still remember jumping over people and dropping cans like a machine gun was the best strategy.
I anxiously await this each week. Fun AND interesting. On a side note, is there anywhere I can download your intro and...."extro" music? I find myself humming all the time. Love this channel, keep up the great work!
When I suggested the game this is the one I meant. I have never played the first one. To this day it is my favorite game on the Sega. Glad you guys liked it once you gave it a chance!!
Rock 'n' Roll String Quartet = ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) (It's been done before and it was cool in its time and still is to those of us who dug it back then.)
1. Love the hair again! Beautiful! 2. You never played ToeJam and Earl?! I wasn't crazy about it, but remember playing it on my Genesis. It looks a lot crappier than I remember, lol. I played the original though. 3. Keep up the great work! Thanks!
Felicia, there is a violinist that would truly change you mind about a rock string band not being cool. She calls herself Violinist Baka and plays rockin theme tunes such as the theme to Sherlock and Dr. Who. She's on TH-cam, check her out! :)
Thank you for answering my question. It was actually a test, and I thought you would pick the urn on the right so you passed and live and have lots of lovely jewels. You see people generally do not like to take risks even when it appears the option perceived to be the best choice (50/50 split) is still a massive gamble. The urn on the right could have 1 red and 99 blue or vice versa. The fact you chose the right urn proves you aren't afraid to make difficult choices and don't mind taking risks.
No, this is the platform sequal. In the first game you try to journey back from earth to funkatron. In this game earthlings invade funkatron and you need to ship em back to earth (by capturing them in jars).
Okay so looking through the comments a few people mentioned rocking string players. Here is a list of them in one comment. Apocalyptica (some say it is closer to heavy metal), Vitamin String Quartet, Escala, Cello Fury, Nuttin But Stringz (some say they are a mix of jazz and hip-hop), Bond, 2Cellos, and lastly the only one I knew before hand, Lindsey Stirling. And according to Wikipeda cello rock and cello metal are actual music subgenres. I now have new gift ideas for my friends and family.
Hahaha, it's so crazy. Me and my sister used to love playing that game together. Seeing it from an adult perspective I can understand how effed up it must look though. It rocks!
Yaay! That was one I suggested. :) Though I agree with the others, go play the first one! I didn't know there was a second one, doesn't look as much fun. Atleast it still has that funky music!
I missed an episode of Lie To Me and only saw it the other day, when Felicia came on I squealed like a small child at the concert of a prepubescent boyband and/or solo performer. I just thought I'd share that bit of my life with everyone.
I've honestly never played the TJ&E sequel, but the original is one of my favorite video games ever. It's tedious and annoying when you play alone, but it's the greatest thing ever with a friend. Especially when you nickname the villains after your old school teachers. Not to mention, if ToeJam and Earl get separated, it goes to split screen so you don't lose track of your player. I highly suggest you try out the original!
Hehe - well if the gaming session of ToeJam and Earl is any indication, we Earthlings are indeed considered a threat, as when Felicia and Ryon saw an Earthling in the game they were like 'Kill it with FIRE'! It all ties together quite nicely :)
As others have stated, Apocalyptica is an AWESOME string quartet. However, they play metal on cellos. i have seen them live more than once and they put on an incredible performance. Their original album was Metallica music arranged for 4 cellos, but they have since recorded several albums of original, inspiring and very different material. HIGHLY recommended!!!! Some of the tracks feature percussion, or guest vocalists as well.
Rock and roll string quartet. It's called Apocolyptica, and they are amazing.
Yes! Apocalyptica are beyond amazing! And a great live experience.
Saw them in Gothenburg at Metaltown in 2006 (I think). The rain poured down while they played and the spotlights made you see every falling raindrop. It was frakkin beautiful!
Thank you for Mucca Pazza!
Brazilian here, and I always laugh so much watching these Felicia's videos...
:) You are awesome!
Also the first thing that popped into my head. Love Apocalyptica.
Always entertaining. Used to play the original TJ & E with my son. Brings back fond memories. Thanks for making Mondays fun.
I am so relieved to be validated in my love of Toejam and Earl. I remember next to nothing about them or the game except that the music was super funky.

"Dear Lee
I think the right one. Do I die?
Sincerly,
Felicia Day"
EPIC XDDD
every episode ive scene so far is pretty funny. im glad i subscribed to geekandsundry!
we missed you :(
I agree! So many cool rock violinists and rock quartets out there.
Felicia's jewelry is always so amazing! I must find that necklace!!
Wicked find with the bookshelves, Felicia, thanks! I had to share that with my friends of the library group. I know I spent way too much time reviewing the photos lol.

Both Felicia and Ryan crack me up the way they play Toe Jam and Earl!lol So hilarious!XD
I saw The Calder Quartet rock out with the band Ra Ra Riot(which itself has strings players). Strings can totally rock!
OHMYGOSH I feel so loved right now! I totally was one of the people who suggested this game. Thank you Felicia!
Oh my word, that tree booty shake was my favourite part. I was in stitches xD
It's just like zelda 1 and 2. :) they made the second one so different it's usually forgotten and ignored.
My god this game, BACK IN THE DAYYYYYYYYY
I have very fond memories of Toejam and Earl 2. It was the first game I ever completed, and was played entirely in two player mode with my best friend over a period of weeks consisting of many sleep overs.

This was my favorite console game as a kid!! My brother and I played this SO MUCH on our Sega Genesis!!
Toejam and Earl 2 was my favorite game as a kid!! So funny and clever.
Aww you picked a bad one. The Original Toejam and Earl was so good.
This made me smile. Thanks for sharing.
2:38 Ryon trying to say hello but he cant simply stop the star of the show :D
I love your necklace in this episode, Felicia! Also, great episode!
I want to see Felicia and Ryon play Battletoads on NES
Nostalgia bomb! As a kid, I played through both TJ&E games with my mom. Great bonding moments for me growing up. (BTW the first game was even MORE obscure and esoteric, and played a lot like Diablo, in fact. Panic on Funkotron was a fairly traditional platformer by comparison.)
Nooooo, this is the 2nd one! Not even anywhere close to the amazingness that is the first one. Delicious top-down view and split-screen perfection.
I personally recommend "Fire on High" found here on TH-cam. I'd post a link but TH-cam won't let me. Remember, choose the full length version. It's just over five minutes in length
You look especially lovely in this installment, Felicia! Also happy belated birthday!
omg!! i LOVED this game. i also never got past the underwater maze craziness...and my life still feels incomplete.
Apocolyptica. Epic string quartet.
Vitamin String Quartet! Rock and roll string quartet, completely awesome!
i agree, i cant believe they played this one, the orginal rocks, that game brought so much happiness
This actually seems like a really good game, especially for the time o.O
I would play the first Toejam & Earl with my brother and my cousins when we were little lol. We also played the one for XBox too. Toejam and Earl is amazing! :D

Mucca Pazza was the most fun concert I've ever been to.
YAY VIDCON!!!!!!! I can't wait to see you!!

Thank you for sharing this with the world.
Toejam & Earl was one of my favorite games as a kid. :D
These game playing ones are the best!
Panic on Funkatron was a great game. I used to play it all the time when I was a kid.
In video description: link #2 is fave five suggestion 4, and link #4 is suggestion 2. Just something I noticed because I save all these links. :)
Apocalyptica does a lot of metal rock music. I love their covers of Metallica, especially Enter Sandman.
this is awesome, i so remember playing that acid trip of a game. lol...as always love it.
1. Love the hair again! Beautiful!
2. You never played ToeJam and Earl?! I wasn't crazy about it, but remember playing it on my Genesis. It looks a lot crappier than I remember, lol. I played the original though.

You REALLY need to check out March Forth Marching Band. They've been rocking it in Portland, OR, for YEARS.
The question at the end seems like a trick question. The urns don't kill you, the jewels do.
you really have to play 16 bit games back in the day to truly enjoy it in today's day in age of HD graphics, you need the nostalgia.
lol I loved your answer to the question of note

BTW, I love the old piano riff at the end!
Yaay! That was one I suggested. :) Though I agree with the others, go play the first one! I didn't know there was a second one, doesn't look as much fun. Atleast it still has that funky music!
beautiful as always Felicia, also Toejam and Earl brings back some seriously gd memories, you should do Altered Beast !!! that game is a true classic!
Oh my god, too funny how she answered that question. "I think the right one. Do I die?". Classic Felicia.
I was all ready to recommend Bond - and here you are already! I concur! Email Felecia and maybe she'll feature your recommendation on the FLOG!
Sweet! I just found my genesis, and it still had the Toejam and Earl cartridge in the slot =D
Best response to a Question of Note ever!!!
OMFG! I remember this game!!! and it's making me nostalgic...WHY!?
I missed an episode of Lie To Me and only saw it the other day, when Felicia came on I squealed like a small child at the concert of a prepubescent boyband and/or solo performer. I just thought I'd share that bit of my life with everyone.

Hilarious and awesome as usual!
ON THE LIST
I laughed so much :D excellent you just made my monday :)
lol "flog time" (I'm Australian, that's funny here) BTW I love the show. Also your ridiculously good looking.
I can't believe they're playing the sequel first. This was my childhood.
love the show it should be on telly
Escala and Bond: Rock and roll string quartets (with background instruments)
Hehe - well if the gaming session of ToeJam and Earl is any indication, we Earthlings are indeed considered a threat, as when Felicia and Ryon saw an Earthling in the game they were like 'Kill it with FIRE'! It all ties together quite nicely :)
THESE ARE SO FREAKING ADDICTING
I can't wait to see you at VidCon, Felicia! :D
The first Toejam and Earl is so good!
Yes the first Toe Jam & Earl is awesome!

Ryon is just as adorable :3
you made my monday much better :)
Could you stop being so pretty and perfect and adorable please ;_; it's killing me.
I loved this game as a kid!!!
Your hair looked amazing in this episode. And I normally don't notice such things, so that's saying quite a lot!
Shanalogic is awesome, I've been using them for years!
Your hair is so pretty!!!
I knew you two would have fun with that one! :)
Rock String Quartet - Vitamin String Quartet. Although they mainly do covers they're pretty close to that definition.
