      Thank you, uberism! I just briefly checked out your channel. I really liked what I saw at first glance. I hope to find more time to watch more of your videos. Your channel is the first one Bracken Recycling has subscribed to!

      Hucks, Thank you! Even though that's a bummer, it still means a lot to hear that, we would be more than happy to have you as a customer! If you ever happen to be in our area, please stop by and say "hello". Even if you don't have any scrap!

    This is a great video dude! You have built a yard with a soul. Honesty, integrety, pride, and civic accountability are sprinkled into every transaction free of charge. Thank you for sharing your vision with us through this short film and for making your customers feel like brothers(or at least cousins) in your family business. My name's Chris Burgess and I approved this message.

    Man you guys are awesome. I go to 3 different scrapyards for the best price and I know what your talking about when they don't treat people like customers. They just want your metal and that's it. But keep up the good work your making a difference.

      Thank you, Pedro! I teach everyone who works with me that I would rather make less money on each customer and have them come back a thousand times then make a quick buck off them once and never see them again. It's all about building relationships with our customers!

      For some reason I ended up working in scrap yards all of my life . I started at the bottom as a kid and learned the business ..still learning. What caught my eye was your comment on customer service which is a big point made in this video. When I worked in the smaller yards I got to know the customers and made many friends who knew they could trust me . Sometimes I would send them away because they had a high nickle alloy and I knew the manager would pay them for 304 stainless because they didnt know what they had . I would tell them what they had and send them to another yard armed with that information..it happens all the time . My advise is to know what you have and weigh your material on a public scale before you go to any scrap yard and tell them what you have and the weight you have before you unload ..unless you go to Bracken Recycling ...Im pretty sure you can trust these guys.

    Great job matey looked like the start of a great movie then into a documentary . The guys at my local scrap yard are like bloody robots. There's no small talk they seem like their annoyed with life and they make you feel like your inconveniencing them by bringing anything in. As I said before on a previous comment I keep my scrap to melt on my TH-cam channel so on this particular visit to these guys I was only dropping off a heap of batterys and nothing more. As the other guy commented your yard looks like a happy friendly place to do business with and its a shame my local yard doesn't have someone cool like you workin there . Keep up the interesting vids buddy and happy scrapping👍🏻🍻👊🏻

      Thanks bigstack! Yeah, I've been around scrapyards my whole life, and I could never understand why everyone is always so rude to customers! Hopefully, everyone will see my videos, and it will force other yards to invest in better employees then everyone can enjoy going to their local yard wherever they are! A trip to the scrapyard should be an ADVENTURE, not a hassle!

    My grandfather owned a coal yard. It converted to a scrap yard in the 60s and is still making it. Man I work for my dad and I love it! Even though this is a very volatile state but you get it! It’s love every morning

    Yo bro, idk how I found this, but this is legit! I dig what your doing man!!! great vids and looks like you do a good job all around. scraping is important, it kills me to see people throwing away metal. I see it as throwing away money and making unnecessary waste. you might know it or you might not but your changing the world ANDDD your providing for your family and providing a service to your community, I respect and appreciate that! Thank you for your service in both the US Military and your Recycling yard. Much Love man, keep up the good work! will sub and like

    Hello again Hunter. Another great quality video man! Had a quick question about "aluminum alloys". What is an "alloy" and if there are different types? Thanks!

    • @brackenrecycling9505
      @brackenrecycling9505  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Mark! All the metal items you see around you every day are alloys. Anytime other elements are added to a pure element it becomes an alloy. So when aluminum ingots are made for the first time, they are using pure aluminum and mixing it with very small traces of other elements like iron, silicon, copper, magnesium, manganese, and zinc. They do this primarily to give the metal strength. But how much of the other elements is added will determine what kind of properties the metal gets. By properties, I'm talking about its workability, strength, corrosion resistance, conductivity, etc. That's why aluminum is classified into 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7,000 series. It will more or less tell people how much of other elements are in the aluminum. This is why recycling aluminum is so much more cost effective and uses way less energy. Because whatever type of alloy a smelter is making they can just melt recycled aluminum that already has the chemistries they need. This is also why there are so many different pricings for aluminum. For example, our scrapyard might not pay as much for 6061 as a yard in California (i just picked a random state) because maybe they have a smelter within 50 miles that needs that type of aluminum, and maybe the nearest one to me that really needs it is 1,500 miles away. That's why when people on the internet see what other people get paid for certain metals in other states they think they're getting ripped off but that could be the very reason for the price difference. At the same time, they might just be getting ripped off! Believe it or not, some yards just don't know how to represent their material or how to choose a good downstream for their scrap! Hope that answered your question!
      Here is a good link if you want to read more about the different series of Aluminum.

    Hi there. Do you have any advice on how I can get into the scrap industry? I’ve been scrapping for over 3 years and I feel like I want to work within a scrap yard and the scrap industry. I’m 20 years old and I really want to make that my career and eventually own my own yard or be the head of one possibly. Any advice?

    Wish all scrape yards had your attitude I have four scrape yards within 2 miles if me . The difference is huge from one yard to the next mainly prices! I think they think scrappers don't have knowledge of what is going on but a lot of us do when it comes to prices. What they don't think we have a phone or computer! I am a small time scrapper and some yards are just looking for big accounts but I thinks the yards don't realize what true power we have IE going to other scrap yards writing bad reviews people read then for sure. Also the people giving quote on the phone should have very good knowledge of what scrape people ate bringing them. I called one yard and they did not know what a CBM or ABM was until I told them. To me it seemed like they were making up prices just so you would go to their yard little do they realize the yard right down the road was paying so much better price. It's these crappy yards that give good honest yards a bad name! I really enjoyed your videos I have gained a lot of knowledge from u and how u break down materials better keep up the great work! From sunny AZ!

    How about a video regarding the scammers. Our industry seems to attract them. Like how do you deal with persons who bring in cars but you can't prove they own them. I get the impression you are an honest dealer who guards against buying stolen brass, copper and cars, so a video on how you deal with those kinds of incidence would be interesting. Great videos.

    Truly enjoyed your video on how to segregate the different types of copper grade. I've been scrapping most of my life just as a means of "gravy" money, but still, I like to get the most out of my dollar. I was wondering if you have a video on brass? Chrome plated, brass with solder, etc., and how/if there are grades on brass as well. Thanks, and keep up the great work!!
