The game is good, but the developers are fucked up and greedy beyond any limits
It doesn't have to be a bad game for the playerbase to feel like it's a "bad game" because it's not much fun overall and the people in charge do their best to ruin the experience for everybody involved
creating frustration as a means to promote spending.

The game is good. The contempt that Plarium have for their player base is the issue.
We need fusions that are more realistic for people with actual lives, more information on the lead up to fusions.
The prices are what they are, clearly people are willing to pay for bad deals.
It's the time issue that's most irritating. We can't play all hours of the day.

It's a good thing raid allows you to figure things out on your own. I'm getting tired of games holding your hand. Try some stuff, figure it out. If it's sub-optimal, who cares? Progress is progress. If your champs are getting leveled, ranked up, booked, masteries, etc. You're building up strength. Your decisions don't have to be perfect. You don't lose anything except time. It might take a bit linger before you can hit UNM clanboss. It's a strategy game. How fast you get there is up to you. Enjoy the journey...
*What do I like about RAID?*
The graphics (including the animations)
Turn-based approach to fighting
Almost infinite ability to customize your characters
Ability to choose what areas of the game I play (instead of being forced along a line of progression the game chooses for me)
*What do I HATE about RAID?*
Critical resources are behind a pay-wall
PvP is difficult to avoid, since it part of your account progression at some point--and that's bad because it's pay-to-win (I don't care if I don't have to play it, but since I DO have to play it, having my nose rubbed in pay-to-win teams EVERY DAY irritates the fuck out of me.)
Promoted events and tournaments are designed for the players who invest thousands of dollar--per month--in the game, not for low-to-no spenders.
*Would I recommend this game?*
Absolutely not. Not even to my worst enemy.
*Why do I continue to play?*
A real good fucking question.
Let me put it this way: I proved to myself that fusions and so on are not for me by doing a few of them (giving them a fair chance, in my mind).
I'm playing the game my way--taking my time to develop a select number of Champions I already have, to see if I can play content that so far has eluded me (i.e., Hydra). Again, in my mind, this is mostly to give the game a chance, because on the whole, I'm thinking that I'm wasting my time.
If I start doing the things that people label as "end-game," and I think it's butt-twaddle (which I suspect it is, but right now can't be sure), then I'll walk away from RAID and never look back.
To me, there IS a deadline, though: the launch of Godforge. If, out of the box (so to speak), I like Godforrge more than I've ever liked RAID, that day will be my last in Teleria.
and the sad part is players and most cc alike complain about raid on a reguarly basis and still keep playing the game and dumping money in it thinking the game will get better

Even people that dont play raid know how shockingly ass and predatory plarium are with monetisation and their lack-luster updates/patches. The game loop is decent but a lot of it is complete trash. To me it seems the game potential outscales plariums ability to develop it.

I think it’s great as long as you don’t wanna compete or have any competitive play in the slightest. And love fighting one man defenses.
After the decade+ of gacha games I've played and still play, I can confidently say Raid is an average game made worse by Plariums decisions.
I absolutely LOVE Summoner's War's stylized graphics. The graphics are more "cartoony" but they have a lot of charm. It reminds me of how people would rag on World of Warcraft for having a more stylized, "cartoony" look compared to many other games in the MMO genre.
You mean the same exactly outdated anims than in 99 % of all crappy Asian games ?
yeah , cartoony destroyed woke of warcraft actually, thats why most of the people actually playing on hc/era/sod serv, TWW is for beginner, new generation,weeb&woke. The old generation from wow dont play TWW ;)
you can do fusions as a free to play. its only high level pvp free to play misses out on. no big deal
I find myself playing it more than several PC games I own, but enjoying my time playing it less. ... sort of makes me question my time usage. I don't /not/ enjoy it. It's a fun game at it's base, and I enjoy the puzzle aspect of building teams. But the level of grind is truly oppressive, the spending push is nuts, and tbh, I'm 100% spending time there more out of an artificial sense of obligation/sunk cost than anything else.
Bad is a strong word, and I wouldn't go there. It does what it does effectively. But Raid is no game design masterpiece.
Honestly, the fact that I'm spending more time on it than on non-predatory higher quality games like BG3, when I'm not actually forced to be playing a mobile game, is nuts. The more I think about it the more I sort of want to fix it.
I enjoyed my first year or two much more than the last. That's not just because of design changes.... it's because that's when I was worrying more about team building and progression. Now all I'm doing is spamming fusions and titan events, and hoping for a (very) lucky pull. The endgame can keep you pushing tons of time into the game, but it's a lot less interesting than the early/midgame was. ... and the more they lean into PvP (Siege, Live Arena, Hydra Clash, etc) the less interested I get. PvP in a p2w game is not something I'm interested in, for obvious reasons.
I didnt know how to define why i didnt wanna download summoners war and the like vs raid. That defined it, and bamboo shoots is oddly accurate lol.

I enjoyed watching the reviews on RSL. Always someone that played the game for 3 hours. They got to stage 3 of the arcane potion keep. They did a but of the campaign, and they think they have all the info they need to review the game.
It's very clear they just set out to make jokes about a game they thought would be bad.

As huge ARPG fan myself, Theres many similarities and reasons to fall in love with a game like Raid. Progress that feels earned over time, Nailing that zero to hero power fantasy and even the live service elements that keeps you engaged with new content. This is my first gotcha game and its very distasteful compared to a game like Path of Exile or Diablo 4. It demands all your time selfishly where as with games that respect their users people dive in willingly. Both paths have similar results and not to dog Raid too hard but that's the biggest issue ive had to cope with. The fact that Plarium doesn't really give a shit about their users. Its all for the whales. At least we have a decent seat in economy for now. 👀

I think the game scratches an itch, but the developers and people in charge are way out of touch. its a shame but eventually someone will copy their formula and do it right, and everyone will flock and raid will completely die out. they have no real competition that's the only reason were all still here. I stopped playing a couple weeks ago when they fucked everyone with the Thor fusion summon rush stuff, just on principle, not for me. when you stop and think about they treat their most loyal customers it is quite disturbing.
The made a game so good they can be raw greed and still keep their numbers up. Personality I'm counting the days til Fateless release and will drop Raid like a poisoned pill 😊

The game was good but all new content since doom tower has been objectively bad. Making hydra compulsory with clash was the final nail in the coffin for me. Not regretted quitting after 5 years once!

Raid: Shadow Legends contains virtually every single mobile game red flag in existence that puts the average non-gamer off playing mobile games.
There are tons of intentionally bad game design choices done solely in an attempt to frustrate players enough into dipping into their wallets and paying Plarium money to circumvent bad Plarium game design.
People who have spent several hundred thousand dollars on Raid, haven't "beaten" Raid.
In many ways, yes, Raid is an awful game.
But here is the thing that a lot of people seem to have forgotten: it's possible to enjoy bad things. Things that are bad in general aren't always all bad. A lot of Plarium's nonsense is exactly that, nonsense, but it is 100% possible to ignore the nonsense and enjoy Raid. Which is what I do.
But yes. I would say Raid is a bad game because Plarium is excessively greedy.

Too answer the title, objectively the game is shit. Terrible shop, terrible dev team and company, and the community mostly just sits and takes the abuse. The reason why i think people still play it is due to it being the only game that has this graphic and design and plays the way it does. I think the reason why CC's still play this game is because it's their biggest view count and therefore pays out the most and if they were to branch off to another game their viewer count plummets, so the CC's are stuck in this damned if i do, damned if i don't mentality, unless you were smart and started your own thing like HH.

I love taking hot steamy dumps on Plarium, but no jRaid isnt a bad game. Its run poorly, but the basic game structure is super solid. If you cloned raid, like they cloned Summoners war, you would have a good game. The phycological games they play with players keep people coming. So well that even when you point it out to people, they ignore you.
before there wasnt enough to do, which is how i ended up with 8 accounts, but now the game has a lot to do and one account is more than enough.
