I started learning Mandarin around the same time as you. This is my first time seriously self studying a language. It has been difficult for me because usually I tend to give up on something unless I can see visual progress and without tests and grades I don't have that visual progress. There is a Chinese muscian I like and I have never been able to read the titles to her songs, but now I am able to read some. That type of visual progress felt better than any grade I have ever recieved and got me really excited to continue. Im excited to see your videos in the future.

that’s really neat! i think that form of visual progress might feel more as a victory for you because you feel more attached to that musician. i think that’s a really cool thing. i too feel like giving up when i don’t see visual progress. but for me, reading books without romanisation makes me feel accomplished! good luck on your studies 🙏

hi! I just started learning Mandarin too. Around the same time you did actually. But I want to say don't forget to give yourself credit. It's amazing that you finished HSK 1! That is still a great accomplishment. Congrats!

谢谢! I started like a month ago and have been doing duolingo and tofu learning for memorizing pinyin and hanzi. I just got the HSK 1 books and I'm excited to learn more about building sentences and grammer though I heard from other learners that the grammer isn't as extensive as other mandarin books

that’s great, good luck on your studies !! yeah, the grammar isn’t as extensive compared to other textbooks but that can be worked on over time, and i think the grammar is easy to understand for us beginners !

こんにちわ! 也你好😊 Thank you for sharing your video, I am learning Japanese myself for about 1 year now, and my Chinese is pretty bad since I only can write calligraphy with a brush, I guess I have a talent to it because I don't know the language but know how to write. I'm also a future chemistry student!! Good luck with your studies, you're sooo talented and I wish you to accomplish all your goals!! I also know French and a little Danish, since I have Danish roots. 😁
