    Nice tutorial. Thanks for this. Sometimes I sit in front of my display and think how to make BW picture more interesting. You showed me how to work with such pictures. Thanks again. Well done!

    Thanks for this very useful and informative clip. B&W has a mood that is unlike colour, and I find that some images just "work" in B&W. It's great getting what amounts to a tutorial on DT, rather just a run-down on what a particular tool set does.

      Great to hear! I am totally with you Michael, some images scream b&w, even before you shoot. Thanks again for your feedback. Really appreciated.👍

      @@StefanoFerro As a follow-up, I tried your technique yesterday, and got more pleasing results faster than the way I did it before - as done by Rico Richardson (th-cam.com/video/cuVdhzkBjZs/w-d-xo.html). I'm still learning the ins and outs of the dodge and burn tools, but I'll get there! All the best, and thanks again.

    I like to see flat, low contrasts images transformed by dt. A very good demonstration. Thank you.

    This was great, thanks! I have a question - at 10:00 in the video, you demonstrate changing the black and white points using the RGB Curve. Would there any difference if one used the RGB Levels instead? I tried and couldn't make out a difference but then I am not as experienced as you are!

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😁😁 thanks for the "experienced". I don't really feel like one...just spreading the love for dt. I believe you can do the same with the RGB Levels...just another way. I am more used to RGB curve, but that doesn't mean it's better. Thanks again for your comment.
      Cheers

    Excellent video. My version of DarkTable no longer has the basic adjustments module. Can I use the dodge and burn presets with another module?

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Steven!! Basic Adjustments gone 🥺😲 what version do you have? I have to look into it. I will be back (the Terminator way🤣)

    • @sstahl4006

      I think it's the latest update. I use Linux Mint and subscribe to developers updates. My version says that the module has been deprecated.

    I also use "color zones" for B & W photographies, it is great and powerful. However, it must be used with care or the final image get over treated, with a unrealistic look, it is easy to happen.

    • @StefanoFerro

      Thanks Joao. Indeed, you are absolutely right. It's one of those tools that editing should be done with subtle changes. In saying that, once mastered, it is so powerful. Thanks for your comment. Cheers :)
