    This is great! I didn’t know I did this until someone pointed it out (mom), but now I know what it is and how to work on it. THANK YOU! I have MS

    Excellent explanation. Early on after the stroke I felt lopsided. Not anymore due to stretching and intense exercises with my physio. 😊

    💛💛💛 Yes yes yes Dr. Tara. Balance training and stretching every day!!! I do it in my kitchen, as there are all these grips to hold on to for all variations of stretches 🤣🤣🤣 really, that gets my body and posture straight again plus arm range of motion and anti spastics. Cooking time is kitchen workout time, also for a straight back and walk 😃😃😃
    Have a beautiful holiday time!! 🎅🎅☃️☃️❄❄

      And by the way: I had a crooked posture beginning my second stroke year because I had lost my balance and had brain fog. A blood test showed that due to the healing process, I had a high demand for D vitamin and my numbers were super down. After experimenting with different doses, I am now taking 3000 D every morning, that is my personal optimum for having balance until the evening. 2000 only lasts until lunch, that is not enough for me. We do not have much sun in northern Germany and I am tall and was sporty, so my body needs a lot. But this brought the balance back and also straightened the posture.
      I take the cheap stuff from the drugstore, that is absolutely fine. And it is said to be good against strong Covid infection, so it's a good and cheap health investment 😃😃😃🙏🙏🙏

    Hello Tara,
    Thank you for your videos. I have the things you talk about after having had a spinal stroke causing hemiplegia ( brown-sequard syndrome). Also some foot drop which I manage without a brace although my foot can get tired sometimes. Also have had arthritis in my knees for some years. I walk with either one stick for short distances or two sticks for longer. Balance is also affected. I would like to get rid of my bent left side. Thank you for the exercises which I will try. Could you tell me if the ..balance issue is usually permanent? I have to be careful not to fall. In the U.K. the NHS only provide about 6 weeks of physio after leaving hospital unless one can afford to go private which is really expensive.

    Great video, rounds out the topic from the previous one, I see that it is not without reason from two parts because it is better to go step by step to focus on parts of the movement, I say it from my own experience, such progress is faster than when we do a demanding exercise. perform correctly. How long should you stand leaning with both hands? Minutes, two, five? When sitting for a long time, for example behind a laptop, is it better to lean your back against a backrest or sit like on a pilates ball that the muscles have to keep the torso as straight as possible? Thank you so much. Darko

    • @rehabhqofficial
      @rehabhqofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Darko. These are EXCELLENT questions. 1: stand as much as possible until the arm learns how to stay down and the shoulder stay level without the table. 2: sitting on a gym ball is SUPER helpful in developing the "postural muscles". However, if you can not sit and maintain good posture when sitting on the gym ball than I recommend sitting on a regular chair or go to an intermediate step, sit on an air disc on a chair (or the pelvic rocker shown in the video). I hope that helps!

      Hi Richard. Thank you for the question!! It depends on where you are at in the recovery process. The fitmi is worth it if you have some shoulder and elbow movement, however, I do not have one and do not have any first hand experience with this. I hope that helps!

      @@rehabhqofficial no problem, as far as fitme is concerned. It would work better if you could open your hand. I couldn't use it for my hand. Even for arm, I had to wrap pucks with theraband. My leg and core are strong, so I never used it for that.

      @@rehabhqofficial it's good for patients who need entertainment to do therapy. I was an athlete. I can do therapy without entertainment. But again, everyone's experience is different. It's not that expensive.

    Hi Dr.Tara,
    Why does a person with Ataxia bend their back over so much. What exercises would you recommend to fix this? Thank you.

    • @rehabhqofficial
      @rehabhqofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Julia, this is an excellent question! I personally do not see this as a MAJOR issue with ataxia. Generally speaking, in my experience, I see people with ataxia have a tendency to fall backwards. That being said, if someone has fallen backwards, they may compensate by leaning forward. I hope that answers your question!

    Great videos, I have advanced pass this stage. My affected side slightly collapses in dynamic transition stage. Mostly it's due to narrow base due to affected side scissoring.

      Try to relax when you're doing anything. This is due to brain noise as per my understanding. Brain is having hard time fine tuning the signals its sending to the muscles. Before you start anything strenuous. Do it very relaxed way to minimize brain noise. Rest you can speak to a physical therapist.
