This is a great video highlighting the 452nd base. My father-in-law flew a B-17 from this site from October 1944 through April 1945. He would enjoy the memories created by this video.

Such evocative places. When my brother moved to Suffolk in the early 1990's we visited lots of old USAF 8th Airforce bases. Most, like this are now farmland but have a great atmosphere. The opening sequence to the film "Twelve O'clock High" so encapsulates these now farmers fields. You cannot help but think of the aircrews whose last contact with earth when alive is now "The corner of an English field" tended by a farmer in his tractor.
Staying at a holiday let just to the South West of the North-South runway opposite where the fuel dump is denoted on the map on Wikipedia. I love to imagine seeing waves of B-17’s flying out on missions with many never to return. Sadly most of the runway is now gone, indeed a sizeable pike of it is dumped adjacent to the NE-SW runway which is sad to see but time marches on. Have been to Omaha Beach in Normandy and it’s a similar feeling of both awe and reverence for the brave men and women who fought in WW2. Thanks for this, interesting to get a Birds Eye view.

A REALLY GREAT VIDEO ,I VISIT OLD WW2 AIRFIELDS AND TAKE PHOTOS ,JUST IN CASE IN THE NEAR FUTURE THEY ARE TURNED INTO HOUSING OR BLOOMING INDUSTRIAL AREAS THUS WE LOOSE WW2 HISTORY ,I ONLY HAVE ONE MINUS POINT TO MAKE I DON'T AGREE WITH THE MUSIC BEING PLAYED ,EVEN THOUGH I CAN TURN IT OFF .
Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately to many interesting/historical places and things seem to be falling under the relentless amount of building but I guess it is probably necessary. Appreciate what you mean about the music but, as you say, it can be muted. I hope it didn't spoil your enjoyment of the video too much.
