    I was so glad to see your video come up! Yeah, wall cuts with a Dremel can be dicey, I've came so close to being electrocuted that I didn't even know it till I pulled the drywall down! And that's not what I did for a living, just for myself or helping out family members on their own homes. Loved the pics at the end to get a feel for the area. Those make things feel so much more real and you are good at doing it. I'd like to thank you for getting me turned back on to bees. I was about to go full on with them back in '99 when family, kid's needs, took over what I would be doing for the next 8 or 9 years. Watching all your videos during the pandemic has brought me back to something I wish I could have done all those years back. After much research on my areas weather patterns, I decided to use a different hive model though. I'm looking forward to the journey and have you to thank for relighting my smoker for bees. I feel like I know you and yet I've never met you, just proves you never know how much of an influence you can have on someone by the way you do things and put it out there. Thanks Randy!

    That would be so cool if those kids got interested in bees! Let them taste the honey and they will fall in love with bees then. I personally am not one that would be comfortable with the risk of getting stung. I used to try to pet and hold the bumble bees that would be on the honeysuckle the us kids would be sipping on. Got stung, but my friend had a way with them and she never got stung. Honey, esp. local honey is soooo good for you and esp. for seasonal allergies. It's Heavenly food! Watching these boys is a hoot! Nice to see that they got over it and started eating and enjoying the honey comb! So what do you do with the bees you catch DirtRooster? I notice you don't protect the comb to put in new boxes for the bees??? Just curious. I'm used to your buddy Mr. Ed. and how he does things. You are the only other person I've watched so far do bees. Always funny to watch you two. Definitely take your time especially around electrical panels. When I use to do installations as a journeyman electrician we stapled all our branch circuits going from the panel.

    Question: I am in Virginia and was told when setting up a bee box to put it in full sun because they like the heat but other beekeepers say keep the beehive in a shady place and/or sheltered in the winter. What’s your best advice for placement - full sun or half-shade?

    • @628DirtRooster
      @628DirtRooster  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends but I prefer my to be in the shade in the heat of the day and catch full sun early or late. That's not necessarily how all mine are set up but that's what I like.

    Awesome work. She what happened to the bees in the colony? Take it no queen was found and with no brood they’d have nothing way to make another. Saw plenty of cells from where they swarmed.

    Home electrical is always interesting to work around. Pete should go by the electrical supply house and get some rubber gloves for when he is opening the wall. Also standing on a rubber mat like a welcome mat could help a lot. Many a time I had to grab bare hot wires as an electrician and as long as you are not grounded you are safe but give it somewhere to leave your body to ground and you will get bit. Of course the rubber gloves (real rubber) will keep it from getting into your body to start with. Just a thought.

      @@628DirtRooster Yeah, but those commercial jobs are dangerous. Got hit so hard with 277 volt that I slept in a recliner for two nights to avoid getting pneumonia. Did that twice in four years as an electrician. Crazy fun. Not.

    With them going in through the meter panel, I'm surprised you didn't consider having the electric company kill power at the pole just to be safe. Well done in any case.

    I must be getting old. First I've had my Fein multi tool since before it was cool. The tool was originally made by Fein for removing casts. When I saw the cutting of the wall it took me all the way back to March 25th 2023 when I was cutting a hole in the wall. Albeit a must smaller one to install a wall outlet.
    Question: do you have your bee logo on a sticker that I could place on my smoker?
