    Hi Kris! Thank you so much for this video. I deleted all of my social media (but not TH-cam) three weeks ago and the things that I loved before such as reading, writing, drawing, dancing, travelling and walking came back to life. I felt so much better my head was clear I felt like I had my own universe whenever I did things on my own. I don't watch the news either probably for six years now it’s just all nonsense and BS. News is just meant to distract you from reality. I feel more creative when I don’t have social media and I’m not scared to interact to people or socialize to people. It’s just so much better 🥰❤️ I wanna create video like this soon and share my thought and perspective 🥰💓

      After awhile, you feel stupid for posting things on (sc,insta, ex) It makes you feel good at the same time when you let go bc you not like everyone else.. we got to find solitude in are selfs to get better💪🏼

    Quit February 11th 2021 best decision of my life. Went from broke to rich have 3 businesses 2 children staff retired living my dream. I will never go back. I tell my wife take a day off you will see how much of your life you get back but never will. Sleep improves instantly and brain over thinking completely stops. Have more time to listen to your inner voice

      Most times the “inner voice” that we hear that tells us to do good n live good is usually God🥺. God still speaks and He will never tell us to do something that goes against the Holy Bible 😊

    I wanted to quit gaming and social media for so long, and I eventually did in January. But I like to discuss random topics with people, and so my friends once I told them about my idea tried to tell me that I am wrong, and that social media isn’t bad, calling me dumb to begin with. I did listen at first but I am so glad I have ended up where I am now. Sometimes I feel upset and feel like I miss the “online” people, however I am aware it’s just my brain being used to all the attention I was getting, even though being completely aware that most of them didn’t care that much as I have.
    I always felt useless, but now? After three months, I already got a plan, I want to become a psychiatrist and I know that I have all time in the world right now without medias and games, I feel really motivated and happy with my life choices. So yeah I agree with everything completely, and also thank you. People like you made me realise how much I missed my real life.

    I had a complete breakdown and deleted my insta, tik tok etc. I just felt so bad because I had allowed myself to become so influenced and wasted so much money after seeing things like it was nothing.

      Never feel bad for something you did. I’m sure you got many lessons from such experience. Fortunately, we’re a species that learn from our decisions. This allows us to learn and not do things that don’t bring us value or create negative influence. It sounds like you are out of that dangerous social media loop, and that’s something to celebrate 💙

    I haven't gone back to social media since 19th Dec, 2021. My anxiety levels have gone down significantly. I'm now selfish with my time and energy (in a good way). I'm starting to see personal growth now. There's beauty in growing in private. My life is too precious for public display on social media. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and wisdom with us. 🧡💙

    I finally deleted social media and I feel calmer but restless too I keep scrolling on my damn phone for finding something else when Im bored. TH-cam is a big addiction too. Its inspiring and I want to find the answers of what to do with my life and what to do instead of wasting my time on social media or tv. And you are right.... Im the only one who have the answers what to do. Nowone else. Thanks for a great video ❤

      Thank you for your comment and sharing your experience. I completely understand. It’s been over a year and I still catch myself grabbing my phone and after a few seconds I’m like what am I even doing haha. We’re programmed…
      I started reading to pass the time. I notice a lot of joy. Just need to find the type of reading you like. Can be fictional, non fictional, self development, etc. it just feeds the mind with healthier information than a phone..

      We do so many things without thinking. I guess we have to be more mindful and change our habits. Thank you for great videos. They really inspire me. I will try to meditate. 🙂

    Lots of truth you spoke. Thanks for the vulnerability. Struggled with the same addictions and plus some. Gave them up in January. At first, the free time was SO overwhelming, not to mention how hard it is to kick the dependency I had on thc. Now I am tapping into outlets I love and it is growing my character. I find pleasure in the small things in life and I feel little need to be on my phone l, besides for work and the a TH-cam video here and there. Take care.

    going on 4 months of no social media, it feels amazing. even when i try to get back onto it i dont feel the incessant need to scroll. i actually find it quite boring, and the things/hobbies i focus on now are way more interesting and fulfilling than scrolling.

      Needed to see this. Now, I need to learn to do my hobbies without feeling the need to take “aesthetic” pictures of them to post onto my story or regret if I don’t. Especially now that I’m getting off of social media again. Hopefully permanently this time.

    I enjoyed your video,. Personally I loath the way social media molds us as creators and spectators. It's societal cancer. Yes there's good in it too but ultimately a life without it is so much more peaceful and beautiful. Good luck with your channel Kris.

    I’m so sick of SM. I realize how much time I spent posting and scrolling and I don’t have anything to show for it. It didn’t strengthen my relationships. If anything it weakened them. Humans are supposed to interact with each other instead of a screen. Plus why let a platform decide what type of content you see? It’s too easy for someone to sway you in whatever direction they wish. If I got really sick or died, who’d be there or go to my funeral? Probably none of them because I haven’t built real relationships. I’m a better parent without it. My time is my own now.

Minute 21:58-22:20 really hit home for me about the feeling lost, all the content we are taking in subconsciously by others who are trying to find their answers while doing the same thing.     I will do it tomorrow. It’s my birthday. 48 years old. The depression and anxiety I’m in will be the last hopefully. I will keep you tube to listen to you and other people with the same thinking. I used to read a lot, I used to love my passion for my entrepreneur role. But after an abusive relationship I had to flee. I was isolated and social media was my life. I have never been so deposed . I’m a yogi, mindset coach, interior designer and real estatebroker. I want to live a slow life, with real people . Create, love old music, love old architecture and I guess I’m an old soul. I will do it!! Delete it

    I quit social media four years ago just (YT) because I learn stuff on YT. I took it a step further last week by deleting my Strava account. Noticed ppl are addicted to their smartphone 24/7. I got rid of my 7 year old iPhone and now have a flip phone.

    Been off Facebook, Instagram & Snapchat for three years now and it's been the best decision I've ever made. However, I'm finding myself doom scrolling on TikTok now and am really feeling the comparison hit me hard sometimes. And with what I'd like to do as a career kinda requires social media, session drummer. Other than that I want to be off all social media

      Thanks for sharing your experience with social media. I hear you… it’s such a difficult journey. The world continues to become more and more digital. Therefore, where the eye balls are, is where the work is… I’m also trying to find that healthy balance of understanding we need it for work, but, also putting our mental wellbeing first. It’s all about mindful consumption and self discipline. Giving yourself 30 minutes a day max. When you notice the mindless scrolling, you stop right away…

    ive been without social media for close to 10 years now...i did isolate for a long time (even though i had a lot of friends/groups beforehand)...the isolation was liberating in a way - lived near a forest/river for years, felt like a monk, i worked a lot, progressed in my career, but now in my early 30s its pretty tough creating new connections, and it does make me feel like i missed out on something / look like an outcast - esp. as i would love to create a family...its also hard to find the same depth in others like i created in myself through all of this

    After 13 years on FB, I quit on July 4,2024. It's been rough, but life will be so much better for those who are too tempted. You will sleep better, reading is great, exercise and walking more and be more active.

    Your channel is extremely underrated. I deleted social media once and my productivity and happiness went up tremendously, but I had to download Instagram again for a 4 day school trip (for schedules and stuff) it lead to me not deleting it again and procrastinating a lot. Now, I've managed to complete all my daily tasks (martial arts training, reading,praying, learning new stuff) I still struggle to not watch reels or TH-cam shorts. I'm planning to delete everything again aside from TH-cam, since that's the only one that gives me real value, good luck on your journey and I hope everything goes well for you. You gained a new subscriber.

    Wow, man, what a great video! I've been going through some hard times because I'm 20 and still don't know what career to pursue. I'm in university but have been having second thoughts about my major since I entered. And when I delete instagram, I always get those thoughts of pressure about my life path and feel bad, but I know it's something I have to do. These days, I've learned to think of it more softly and don't put too much pressure in myself because I'm still young, but I need this time to find out more things about myself. However, one of my friends is going back to germany, and instagram would be helpful, but until he came to Brazil, he had no social media, and we talked about its cons. Still don't know how we'll keep in touch, but surely getting off is the best thing to do. This video was the motivation I needed to do it. Thank you so much!!

    This month will make a year off instagram and it was the best decision ever. Stopped comparing myself to others and I was living in the moment more plus I became more productive. Most importantly I found out that all the so called friends I had weren’t really my friends, even the ones I knew over a decade showed their true colors because of social media

    Guy from Nepal currently in Canada here; glad you were in Nepal! Been on the same journey of no SM for about a month; the amount of shit I don't have to deal with now is just so massive. I have clarity, I have focus, get things done. The boredom that comes with it is a part of it but you slowly learn to channel your boredom to something productive (or better, just enjoy the boredom staring the sky). It's interesting to note that you have a tendency to be hooked to youtube (which I did earlier) but now I've been a bit strict on myself; just 1-2random good videos now and then once in 2-3 days. I currently feel like this is where I always want to be, not stuck on my phone but rather listening and being aware of all the stuff around me. Kudos to you! SM is shit designed to make your life shit! One can definitely live without it.

    I used to hardly go on social media but not working at the moment and being home it’s so hard not to scroll for hours. It was also taking away my time from God and my own personal thoughts so I’ve been consciously trying to get off of social media. I realized when I was happier and stronger in my faith I wouldn’t go on it as much. Just remember to be present, live in the moment Those moments are being wasted when you spend it on your phone. Now to get off of TH-cam more..

    I quit doomscrolling last September-ish. I used to doomscroll instagram and reddit and I have deleted both of those apps from my phone and it's bene great since doing that. I am much more grounded and emotionally stable, I accept and can handle being bored better, and I see fewer advertisements per day. I don't consider watching long form content to be doomscrolling and I believe that lots of other people watching these videos agree with this too. Deleting social media is definitely a net positive, 10 out of 10, do recommend.

    I’m have a planned exit. I do have a skincare brand but I can’t take it anymore. As a spiritual & sensitive person, social media just killed my personal identity and increased depression. I feel like a shell of a person having to be a brand for 5 years on SM.

    I want to delete Instagram , TikTok .., but there’s also a lot of valuable content - like nutrition/health type accounts , mental health accounts , a lot of good information on social media , so is it worth to keep , or best to delete accounts entirely? Can anyone help me out with this, I’m so confused with what to do… also when talking about deleting social media - all platforms other than TH-cam ?

      Thank you for your question! Here’s my thoughts on it:
      Step 1 is awareness, knowing that there’s an unhealthy relationship with it, that’s the hardest part
      Step 2 is creating a healthy, mindful relationship with social media. Maybe your long term goal is deleting it completely, or you just want to take control over it, and not let it take control over you. Once you understand your goal, you can slowly work towards it.
      Step 3 I always advocate for mindful consumption. To me, this is what that looks like. You are in control, not the platform. You don’t scroll the for you pages, you look at platforms where you have more control. We don’t need for information, we just need the right information. TikTok for example is designed to keep you doom scrolling and it will never end. TH-cam you can have some more control as you can follow a few creators and ONLY consume their stuff. Instagram as the option to have a section of ‘favourites’ where you only see their content.
      I’d recommend you start with only consuming 1 platform. TH-cam or Instagram. You don’t scroll the for your page. You only consume the creators that you’re really into and value what they share. Which brings actual value and doesn’t make you feel something negative inside.
      You put a limit of 10-20 minutes a day.
      If you are consuming for value and education. Have your journal beside you, when you learn something, write it down. Don’t just consume. Actually right it down and learn it.
      When we consume mindfully, learn, and adapt into our lives real change can happen.
      Eventually, when you’ve created a healthy relationship where you aren’t grabbing your phone every minute when you’re bored, then you can decide if you want to keep social media or delete it completely.
      But no need to make any massive decision right away. A Mindful approach is key.

    Hi kris... I underestimated you and just said to myself hey look at his video as well, but i really connected with lot of stuff that you said, reasonable and wise .. i deleted my Instagram 2 years ago and still don't like that but my weakness is TH-cam and im really struggling with it

      Hey! Thank you for your comment and watching my video. Give yourself some credit that you’re only into 1 platform. That is powerful. In life, if we do not so good things mindfully and in moderation, it is not so bad. So, if you’re doing less than 15-30 minutes a day on TH-cam, and you’re doing it to advance your knowledge, gain inspiration and motivation, and you feel better afterwords then there is nothing bad in my opinion. If you do it for long period of times, it effects your, and your overall wellbeing, that’s when you stop using it. Hope this helps!

      @@mindfulnesskrisToday I woke up and I understood why IG kept me in a loop of unhappiness. It kept showing me how little and insignificant I was in this mainly "happy" and "partying" world. On top of everything when you see your ex there doing the same with someone else. It is very detrimental to your health when you are lonely already. I remember I was much happier when I did not have IG. Of course, I was also not as aware of my wounds as I am now, but still... You video makes so much sense.

      I recommend you start slow. Cut your time in half. Do 1 video a day. And start reading instead. Start walking. It’s not bad if you do less than 30 minutes, stick to positive stuff that makes you feel good. It’s all about balance 💙

    not all media are owned by big companies. At least not in all countries. And who, for you, is "they"? I agree that social media can be addictive, but I do not agree that there is a conspiracy going on. For me, it is that companies want us to consume more. And social media companies want us hooked to be able to earn on advertisement. Very simple. But of course: very unethical.
