I've had the burgundy one for a couple of years. I have way too many guitars but I come back to this one all the time, it's the most comfortable guitar I've ever played.
Thanks for doing this teardown. I'm so glad this mod has quick connect pickups in case someone wants to swap pickups easily. I still can't believe guitar makers produce modern guitars without them. Most people don't know how to solder, don't have time, don't have the equipment, etc. The pickups sound great, but it's nice to know the option is there. I'd also love to see an easy way to fit a P-90 in a humbucker route -- like a conversion kit of some kind. Maybe it exists? Thanks for the video!
I'm glad I could help. Yeah quick connect is a no brainer these days. Hm to be honest, I havent heard of such P90 kit. But makes sense, someone should make it.
It’s not the same but you could look into the Seymour Duncan phat cat p90 pickup. It’s in a Humbucker housing and my favorite bridge pickup. I’ve been using one with a Seth lover in the neck in my main guitar for about 16-17 years
Cool video! I just ordered the Modern with the Caribbean blue finish on sweetwater. First time buying a guitar that I haven't played, usually just buy in the different shops, so a bit nervous about post office blunders. Now the wait until in arrives 😢😅....
Good Video ! As for the wood not aligning with the top , you don’t want all the seams in one line . It would cause a weakness spot . Having the maple pieces in different positions makes the cap a lot stronger .
As an professional Instrument maker (church pipe organs), i would say that these days a wood glueing is just as strong as the wood itsself. We have made several tests about that issue and the glue joint was perfect, the wood broke beside the joint-lines. So in my opinion it is better to save wood from the old south-american rain woods, not only for economical purposes, but as well for our one world. There is a really great difference in the amount of wood you need, making headplate and neck out of one peace! So many worthy wood is made to chips... And - who can hear any differences in the sound?? This guitar deliveres such a variety of fascinating sounds! Thank you very much for the video!
I have the Epiphone Les Paul Muse, it plays well that is nice too to see some one play on the same Guitar is cool The Epiphone Muse is light not as heavy as a mahogany body , I have found through a lot of research Gibson, and Epiphone factories use the same tools too build them , they are well worth the dollar we pay for them ......
I just got the Epiphone Les Paul Modern in Faded Pelham Blue- it is an instrument of great beauty. Thanks for your great review. I have learnt alot more about my new guitar. Missed this one in my research reviews. Cheers.☮💙🎸🎶
Very nice video. I had the exact same debate with myself a few months back. I ended up buying the Epiphone Les Paul Modern with the Caribbean Blue Fade top. That guitar has not left my hands since I received it. I love the weight of this guitar. It is very well balanced. The pickups are really good and I love the coil split and phase switch. One thing to mention if you are comparing the Epiphone to the Gibson Les Paul Modern is that the Gibson uses coil taps instead of the coil split. -Also the Gibson Les Paul Modern is not available with a flame top. As a 'weekend warrior' I need a guitar that can cover a lot of sonic territory and this guitar will deliver.
My local shop has them , i fell under their spell . I like seeing more wood less paint so it suits me,, split pro buckers to tons of tone through modern amps
Good review. I have a 2021 in Caribbean Blue. And on the used market you can get one of these pretty cheap. I just paid $500 USD and it came with a hardshell case. A great value. And the knobs work well with the channeled and knurled top. The knobs are a big plus when using the push/pull features. This guitar is perfect out of the box and needs nothing. It has locking tuners, the pickups are good enough. They're nice.
Very good overview. I have that epiphone. Nice guitar but really need better electronics parts. What would you recommend to improve that guitar. Thank for any advice.
The Pickups andCTS pots are ok. Swap the 3-way switch, the output jack, maybe swap the Locktone bridge with schaller or grover. And I would put a new nut there - bone or tusq.
I am torn between the muse n modern. My back is rs so the muse, which I tried the other day, is nice n light. Off to the shop to check out the modern. I can't justify the money for the gibson n the ones I've tried are too heavy.
I really like the colors of that one. The lighter color on all the body, or the same with the full outline should be way more commonly offered on Epiphone (or any brand really) I really like "low saturation" colors, it kinda looks like a sunburst that got sun bleached or something 😍
@@GeorgeVGuitars Alright, so i will probably pick les paul muse or the lespaul classic over lespaul standards Its my first electric guitar , so I am researching each and everything to get the better one which will suit my taste Your reviews are really helpful , Thanks man👍
Pfff, that is a tough one. I am a Gibson LP guy so I would probably lean towards the Modern, but the EC-256 is good as well. To me the Modern felt just a little bit better in quality than the EC-256 plus I like the finish and the controls layout.
Wow that was quick 😮. Thanks for the respond. I kinda like the LP sound better. The split coil sound of the 256 is kinda weak imo. What do you think about prs se dgt / pauls/ custom for those music genre?
I also have the Epiphone Les Paul times three black beauty it is a little more money and was built to be like the ones they made in 1957 bye Gibson ......
The Standard and Modern are quite different from each other. Also the Standard 50s and 59 are both great guitars. What don't you like about them in particular?
@@jpeterson213 You can make them sound similar, but there will be subtle differences because of the materials used. Keep in mind that the modern has Coil Split on both pickups and a phase switch. Both the Single coils and the phase switch sound pretty good in the Modern.
@@jpeterson213Thanks. Yeah I will get to the Standards eventually. I got like 10 more Epi guitars to review before that, but I will get there eventually.

Yeah its comfy
I got one for a mod platform. Replaced the pickups with a Seymour Duncan hott rodded set. replaced the knobs with black and added a black poker chip.
Do you still have a coil split in those pickup set
@@everythingjingabell8416 No, I replaced the pots with a standard les Paul Mojo-tone kit.
Just got a Les Paul Modern in Pelham Blue - love it. It did need a setup after it arrived but now it's playing and sounding like a champ.

They are ok yes

Did yours come without a pick guard? All the one's I'm seeing online have pick guards but yours doesn't seem to even have the screw holes drilled
No, it didn't have a pickguard. I have seen others that come with one too.
This is a couple months later, but I was wondering the same thing and found that Sweetwater has these without a pickguard.

If you want light weight, definitely go Muse
Great video! Does this need fret rolling or does the binding help?
Thank you. It can benefit from some fretwork.
I chose Muse only because of colour. Modern has better pickups, better geometry, better neck and fretboard, but... I just lokked for pink les paul.
but Muse sounds and feels great! I love its tone and usebility
The Muse is pretty sweet with a good amp. Guitars are just tools anyways.

whats the riff you did at the start?
