You are wrong in the first 10 seconds. Thodupuzha is her mother's ancestral place, Binny is the Malayalee. Krishna is the Palghat Iyer from Trivandrum. Tamilian's settled in Kerala for a long time and are very comfortable with Malayalam. (like Kameshwaran in MMKR). So Sivaangi speaks Tamil at home.
