I normally can't stand listening to SK but he had a bit of a different tone about himself today. Still going to bat for Ownership, that won't change. Winning gives reprieves, realistic thinking tells us tthis crew will have some rough patches coming. Let's see how the ship is setting at that time. Have always been a Cora guy. He's not perfect but tell me who's available of his caliber to replace him at this moment with his credentials?
Almost no one. But I think you're missing the point.
Alex wasn't brought on in '18 to help develop a nucleus in Boston. He was brought on to direct a group of talent to a World Series. There are some managers who are patient enough to develop talent at the big leagues--Kotsay (OAK) and Louvello (ARI) come to mind.
I think Cora would much rather win than develop talent, which might be a problem on a team that's content trying to win 86 games a year on a 'restricted' budget.
At least he owned up to not winning championships and put the blame on himself, ownership, and management
Kennedy can’t answer any tough questions, nor should he (from an ownership/manager side), so it’s pointless to ask them.
