  • Cut the muffler off and welded the cut pipes to the existing tail pipes. Also had an X-Pipe installed and did not remove the cats.

      @@rafaelgarcia6283 cold revving is when you start your car in cold temperatures and u rev it, it damages the engine because you aren’t letting the car warm up. You are forcing the engine when you go high rpms.

      When you rev it you are working your oil pump to push the oil across the motor faster. That’s a myth that’s been debunked

      It’s an inexpensive mod to have a muffler shop remove it, add and x pipe and weld new pipe to the cuts made. Def do it

    Where did you get the x pip if you don't mind me asking. I have the same car and would like to do a similar set up!! Sounds so clean!!!

    • @Texasdr
      @Texasdr  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The shop I took it to in Houston either already had one or they were able to make one. It was the same diameter as the current exhaust. They added the xpipe in the middle, cut the muffler off and then welded new pipes to the cut ends. It was a very simple mod and made it sound so much better. Xpipe helps reduce the drone. I followed what a lot of people did on F15bimmer forums

      TSW wheels. I have the staggered fitment posted on the F15 BMW forum. It’s as big of a tire and wheel combo you can go without hitting the upper control arm

      Never had this issue and neither did anyone else that posted they did it on the BMW forums. On the F15 model years cutting the muffler off near the tail pipes wouldn’t flag the ecm. I’m sure you can use a scanner to check what the engine light code is.

      @@Texasdr I see, I just got a mid muffler delete done, I was thinking of removing the actual muffler in the back but I’ve seen a video of a guy do it and he had a loud rattling sound (I think that’s drone) from the exhaust. So I’m thinking of doing what you did.

    • @Texasdr
      @Texasdr  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaelbushy I did what most have done on the forums. Had a shop add an X pipe, remove the muffler and weld new pipes to connect the two cut ends and keep the same tailpipes. I don’t have any rattling and the X pipe helps eliminate excessive drone.

    • @Texasdr
      @Texasdr  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had mine done at a muffler shop in Houston and it came out to $550. It will vary depending on where you're located. I just had them cut the muffler off, weld new pipe to the cut tips to cut pipe and added an X-pipe. The X-pipe was the same diameter as the existing piping. I kept the resonators as well.

  • @nickmccaslin4722
    @nickmccaslin4722 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you keep the stock resonators on the front side of where you put the x pipe? I did muffler delete and x pipe and way too loud with a lot of drone but thinking I should have left the resonators on it.

    • @Texasdr
      @Texasdr  ปีที่แล้ว

      Kept the stock resonators. I only had the shop remove the muffler and then weld new pipes from the cut muffler section to the existing tail pipes. They added the X-pipe. Some drone at 1,100 rpm, but not bad enough to bother me on long road trips or driving clients

    • @Texasdr
      @Texasdr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They’re 22s in a staggered set up. 22x10.5 up front and 22x11 in the rear. Tires are also staggered but I wanted a little more of a sidewall since the roads can be rough here. Here’s my post walking through the set up. It’s as big as you can go before you touch the upper control arm in the front f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?s=05a665123663f719ec152fe04a807d3d&p=23847779#post23847779
