The Polar Express was a great film with lots of Christmas spirit. 💬 Comment below with your thoughts on the movie and what movies you would like to see in the future. This is one of my favorite Christmas movies, right next to Muppets Christmas Carol. Tom Hanks voiced the Conductor, the Father, the Hobo, and Santa Claus - and he was behind getting the movie made in the first place. I think the one boy stayed by himself because he was from the "wrong side of the tracks" and probably got teased a lot, plus his parents were so poor he usually couldn't even send a letter to Santa. I also think the grumpy old Hobo was there to lend a hand in teaching kids not to judge a book by its cover and to show that even grumpy old men can believe.
The lesson wasn't about the train when the conductor told him that it wasn't about where it was going, it was about getting on. It was a euphemism. Life is scary. For kids, for adults. Not knowing where you'll end up is part of it. It's about forging ahead anyway. Making connections with friends, trusting and relying on friends, learning lessons and learning what your strengths are, such as some are born leaders. This movie isn't really about family, theres enough christmas shows with that. This is about friendship, learning independence and basically growing up. Just with christmas to frame it. And you do know disney movies aren't realistic, right? Lol or have you met talking animals or sleeping princesses or a wooden boy who's nose grew when he told a lie. Lol to name a few classic examples. You just sit back and don't analyze. It's fun but there's always an underlying lesson. Disney is good at that.
The train engineers were originally portrayed by Michael Jeter. He did both the voices and the motion capture. He's best known for his work in musical theatre and as Mr Noodles Brother Mr Noodle in Sesame Street. Sadly he passed before he could finish his vocal work. He was replaced by Andre Sogliuzzo, whose known as King Bumi in Avatar The Last Airbender.
I love Polar Express. The reason for the acurracy to the actual actors is because they used motion capture to do the animation. I think Tom Hanks plays a total of 5 different characters in this. Great reaction!
I agree they should create a Polar Express Roller Coaster somewhere because it would be so fun!!!!! I will say this is one of the best Santa Clauses ive ever seen in a movie!!! ❤
Absolutely love your reactions keep up the amazing work!!!
My kids and I say this every year.
Found your page a couple days ago and been watching all your reactions. Love your personality, a lot of reactors try too hard, you have a great mix of jokes, commentary and knowing when to stop talking and let the movie play. Keep it up
Thank you for the kind words. :D You are awesome!
Yea I can confidently say this dudes personality is up there. Been subbed to him for quite some time now and it’s always nice to chill out and watch his channel. Happy holidays friend
Santa scene makes me tear up every time without fail. "I believe. " for the 3rd time breaks me.
This is my favorite Christmas movie, and I was very glad that you gave it the benefit of the doubt instead of criticizing it on its inaccuracies.
"There's no greater gift than friendship."
Merry Christmas! ✝️ 🙏 🎄 🎁
Fun Fact: The movie is based on the book The Polar Express (1985) by Chris Van Alsburg. He also wrote the Jumanji (1981) and Zathura (2002) books.
1225 Connection Fact: A close examination of the ticket numbers reveals that they all contain the number 1225. Pere Marquette No. 1225 was used as a model for the Polar Express locomotive. 12-25 also refers to the date of Christmas, December 25th.
Motion Capture Fact: The film is listed in the 2006 Guinness Book of World Records as the "first all-digital capture" film, where all acted parts were done in digital capture. In fact, it is called "motion capture" now. The film used 3D motion capture techniques to digitally record the actors' physical performances before "skinning" them with their animated forms. The children's roles were acted by adults, using oversized props to get the movement right.
Good King Wenceslas Fact: When the Hero Boy (Josh Hutcherson) first meets the Hobo (Tom Hanks) on the roof of the train, he is playing the "Good King Wenceslas" carol. The story of Saint Wenceslas I, Duke of Bohemia is that of a king braving the harsh winter to bring alms to the poor on the Feast of Stephan, December 26th. His page finds he can't go on through the harsh conditions and is directed to walk in the footprints that the king has made in the snow. The Hobo directs Hero Boy to follow behind him and ultimately helps him reach the engine before they make it to the tunnel, thus allowing him to find and help his friend. This is also a representation of the Holy Spirit idea of the Hobo, that he guides those who believe in Him to safety, even in perilous times.
This is an awesome comment! You gave me a lot of new trivia about this movie I didn't know before, so thanks!
Kayjee17 ...You're welcome! I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
This movie was definitely a wild ride. 😄 A very sweet, Christmasy wild ride but a wild ride nonetheless. Super fun reaction as always! I’m not sure what I would’ve asked Santa for, I guess that would depend on what his limits are lol.
This is such a beautiful movie.
I can`t even begin to imagine how many hours and how much work people put into the creation of this masterpiece.
The details are truly magical :)
Sadly, most people take all the beauty in life for granted, and they forget that somewhere very talented people put an enormous amount of effort and work into creating all the wonderful books, toys, cartoons, movies, etc.
Thank you for all your kind and delightful reactions❤
I love this movie it makes me think of the saying I heard that the most beautiful things in the world aren't seen or touch their felt in the heart
Though I usually don't like it when people add their own ideas onto an author's book in order to make a movie from it, this is an exeption because they did it so well. The original is a picture book that gives the story's outline but lets the child or adult add details with their imagination. Turning it into a movie could've ended badly but they really took the time to do it right.
Fun fact: When the train is going up the mountain on the tracks going in a spiral up the mountain, they had to make the train curved so that it could fit on the tracks, because it would be impossible for the train to do the turn on tracks with that much of a curve.
Watching people's reactions to the movie, no one seems to notice that. So I guess they did a good job.
The ultimate experience for The Polar Express is to see it in 3d, especially IMAX. There's one shot on an IMAX screen that the train is life sized. I have TPE on 3D bluray, the 3d snow tells you that the magic is coming. The 3D version is packed with 3D gags that go unnoticed in the flat version. The PolEx on the ice is amazing in 3d. I also have the gift box with the sleigh bell in it.
🎅 This was the 3rd of director Robert Zemeckis' many movies that Tom Hanks has starred in. The first was "Forrest Gump" (which you've already reacted to) and the second was "Castaway" (which you would definitely enjoy). 😎 I saw "Polar Express" when it first came out on a giant 3-D IMAX screen, and the experience was absolutely mind-blowing. That dizzying scene where the ticket flies off the train and goes on that amazing journey featuring owls, wolves, waterfalls and eagles made the whole audience go "WHOA!!!" 🤯 Nobody had ever seen anything like that before. 🤓 If you like this style of motion-capture animation, another really well made movie that utilizes it is Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures Of Tintin" (2011). It's one of those films that for some reason, everyone seems to forget about, but whenever you remind them of it, they always agree that it's a great movie. 😉👍
My favorite Christmas Movie
This movie is a lot of fun!!!! I've watched this movie every single Christmas since I was VERY little, including this year and I'm 23 now. This movie is a classic in our family!!!! I'm glad you liked it, too!!!!
I've been going through Josh Hutcherson's work and in this one he played the boy in motion capture.
Awesome reaction of my favorite Christmas movie and Merry Christmas!!!!😊😊😊😊
Thanks! And Same to you! :D
Tom Hanks played like 1/3rd of the cast in this film.
My nefew doesn't have attention span for movies either. Can't wait for him to get into movies

By the way, been watching you since you first followed ptx. Or those who dont know what that is. That'd the acapella group, pentatonix. Lol good reaction.
I love Watching this movie
I’m sure this was explained, but Billy comes from a poor family. He keeps saying Christmas doesn’t work out for him and he clearly lacks belief in Santa but he wants too believe and being so young I think he has some spark of belief while also not wanting to be disappointed, which is why he was hesitant to get on or go to the city center. If I had to guess, his family likely told him Santa doesn’t exist so he has no expectation of gifts since his parents can’t afford to provide that. I don’t think he wanted to believe his parents but once again didn’t want to be proven they were right. Sadly, there’s a lot of parents that actually do this, because they don’t want their kids to have hope or wish for something that just can’t happen. On one hand, it feels like self preservation for the parents. Tell your kids this and that will spare us from feeling bad about not getting anything because our kid will know not to expect anything. On the other, you’re interfering with kids and the wonder and imagination of Christmas. It can also lead to interesting interactions at school. Imagine being a kids who believes and you’re told by your peer that your parents said Santa doesn’t exist. Either that kid is going to get defensive or their heart will sink to their stomach. That will definitely be a conversation when that child goes home.
I love this film. It’s my favorite Christmas film! It has a point beyond friends and family, which is the topic of basically every Christmas film.
“Some times the things we don’t see are the most real of all.”
As children, we imagined worlds, jungle gyms were castles or some type of volcano and we needed to avoid the “very real lava.” We lose that as adults. Which is why the end of this film is so important. It’s a reminder to believe in the power of hope and childlike imagination.
Believe in what your heart is saying
hear the melody that's playing, there's no time to waste, there's so much to celebrate.

A movie that's loved and hated at the same time, wish it wasn't hated at all.
Why would this movie be hated?
@@NewfieMovieReactions The outdated animation, being motion capture which some are not fans of that.
@@ShayTheValiant That's what i mean.
@@NewfieMovieReactions The animation is in "uncanny valley" territory. It looks ok in some places, but in others it looks really off.

my first gift from Santa is pokemon japan green
i watched this when i was a kid, i don't remember being so uncomfortable bc of the animation... maybe that's why some people don't like it??
