  • Here are the embellishments used by Herbie Hancock in the original version, which I played in this backing track : F#m7b5 (11), F7 (9 #11 13), E7 (9 #11 13) and A7 (#9 b13). This is based on my transcription of all the voicings in the whole song (not only the head).

    You have to feel the 6/4 ( or 12/8 ) bar ......and the chords bluesy minor progression allows
    interesting substitutions to support high voltage lines .

    GI puts out great backing tracks! I set a goal to record one improvisation a week for 10 weeks over the summer and I ended up using GI backing tracks for all 10. Here is the last one of the series using this Footprints track: th-cam.com/video/f9hKy3oNgoU/w-d-xo.html

    NICE friggin' job! Sparse enough, too. So many backing tracks have too much information, especially rhythm changes. Yes, yes, we all wanna know what the changes are, but nailin' the I-VI-ii-V on rhythm changes all the time make it circus music-less is more when comping. As the great Lester Young once said to an especially busy rhythm section he picked up in New Jersey,
    "Say fellas, just ticky-boom ticky-boom for Lester." He certainly could handle the rest!! Thank you! Great track.

    bonjour martin - sorte de blues en DO m sans le degré V ( Sol) - cela sonne bien mais je ne comprend pas trop les substitutions de la dernière ligne: FA#semidim ( ?), FA7 ( quarte majeure ?), MI7 (tierce majeure ?) LA7 (sixte majeure ? )...

      Oui, ce sont des accords très avancés et difficiles à analyser. L'idéal serait de demander la logique (s'il y en a une) à Wayne Shorter ;-)

    • @yvesrichter4345
      @yvesrichter4345 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The # is in relation to the F making it a F# and the crossed 0 means "halfdiminished" . So two minor thirds plus one major third, in this case play F# A C E :)

      @luizcadu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @alessiowisdom
      @alessiowisdom 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The symbol "#" says that this note is an F but 1 semitone higher . Ø is a symbol that indicate half diminished chords (you can call also it m7b5)
