    Sir,
A borrowed Rs 1000 from B. Now at the time of returning the amount A is wishing to pay by cheques. It is the choice of B to accept chaques or not. That's why it is negotiable. If A pays amont through cash then B is bound to accept it. Cash is non-negotiable. It is a legal tender

As per Bills of Exchange Act 1914 a negotiable instrument is a document guaranteeing the payment of a specific amount of money, either on demand, or at a set time, with the payer named on the document. More specifically, it is a document contemplated by or consisting of a contract, which promises the payment of money without condition, which may be paid either on demand or at a future date.
Likewise promissory note and cheque follows all criteria. So cheque is called a negotiable instrument..sir please rectify if there is any wrong under standing in my study.
