the thing i love about smb u is that it finally has a slight change in the plot. it isn't just peach getting captured all the time, it's the castle being taken over.
Yeah that's what makes it unique. I'd like them to make Peach's castle more of a plot point in more Mario games. Like what if Bowser mind controlled peach and she ended up being the final boss?

This game was released when I was born, 2012, which I am 10. I am not spoiled and I understand that this game is great. In 2015, my friend introduced me to a Wii, and a Wii U, and I used to play this. In 2017, my father bought me a wii U. I remember it took like 3 hours to set it up.
I know a lot of people hate that this is coming to switch but i never got a wii u till like three months before the switch launched so i never got a chance to play it since i sold my wii u to get my switch. Im really glad ill get a chance to play this. I hope wind waker hd and twilight princess hd get ported over too
I'm in a similar situation, minus the part where I actually got a Wii U. I was considering getting one for this game, Mario Maker, etc. But that was before the good news was confirmed for my Switch.
I wouldn't say alot considering the Wii U sold so badly and also New Super Mario Bros U is the poorest selling one out of all NSMB games not because people were sick of NSMB games but because Nintendo did such a shit job promoting the Wii U, also it came out after NSMB2 on 3ds, which was promoted way better and sold better due to better marketing and it wasn't Wii U. NSMB2 sucked compared to U in everything but it sold way better cause of better marketing, better price of hardware. Nintendo saved the 3ds with the price drop, while they couldn't do the same for Wii U cause the gamepad was so expensive to make, what a mess up, I would say fuck up as I love the Wii U for its games. New Super Mario Bros U will sell to a way bigger market on the switch compared to Wii U, so Wii U owners won't have much to cry about considering there's 12 million of em out there and only 2-5 million, I believe bought NSMBU, while Switch outsold the Wii U and just outsold the GameCube and is continuing to sell. You look at these Wii U ports, Wii U owners bitch about but no one cares and you know why? Because the Wii U ports on Switch are outselling there original Wii U versions tremendously well and will likely help with the costs that Nintendo lost during the Wii U era.

I love this game It's an underrated classic It's my 2nd favourite 2d Mario, love the amazing graphics, slightly unique plot, the levels and perfect controls. The New Super Mario Bros games are so underrated, they're controversially my favourite 2d games. 👍

Well, I took a lot of training on Super Mario Bros. after these play throughs on this site. I mastered it instantly without taking damage mostly especially not taking damage when confronting Bowser and kicking his butt.
Agreed. Older gamers mark it off as a childish or easy game and honestly that couldn't be farther from the truth. Easily the best 2D Mario title and possibly the best 2D platformer. I'm still surprised it's so overlooked by fans of any genre. I'd love a sequel with a slightly new art style and new themes like candy, rainbow, horror, and autumn with a new plot. It could be really successful if it's marketed better.
@@JJ-zo7jv yeah, I think it should follow rayman 1’s example when it comes to level theming. Mario’s already proven himself to have rather abstract logic so why not go all the way with very unrealistic themes like rayman 1 did with band land and picture city? The galaxy games have already had ideas in that fashion.
@@JJ-zo7jv I love this game to death, both the vanilla stuff and the rom hacking stuff, but i certainly do not think it is the best 2D platformer. And i don't think that because of the whole "ThEmES oF wOrLdz" bs (although to be fair, i am kinda tired of most of the themes), it's because even if the game is so good, there are signs of it being rushed; Think about it, decorations seem to be lacking, some star coins are questionable (looking at 2-4's random hidden block, a classic), and some levels feel like they could've been excecuted better. Another thing to support this theory is how every other NSMB game had a theme, but this one does not (the closest thing to that is an enemy and a power up): NSMBDS it's justofied by the fact that it's the first game of the franchise, although it did have the whole "mega and mini" theme going on, even if small NSMBWII introduced multiplayer AND was designed for it. NSMB2 had the coin gimmick, marked the return of the super leaf and even had a golden flower. But NSMBU has, maybe mini Yoshis? Also, pretty minor, but i feel like NSMBU is the most artificial of the NSMB games. It feels a lot more of a well designed course than a place, which can be good but here it is pretty unbalanced, pretty much because of the aforementioned lack of decorations and some rushed aspects of it. But in the end, eh idc it's a good and fun game, as long as it's entertaing i'm fine with it. Just can't wait to see if the next NSMB game will be better than this one (at least on level design)
I love the WiiU version because is has a fifth player, the WiiU gamepad helps the other 4 players with adding colorful boxes on screen so they can jump on it and reach the other side!
I love how by the books the plot is everytime, its such a simple and fun story that never gets old and they never try to complicate it or add depth cuz it doesnt need it, if they did i wouldn't play mario again it should be dumb, fun and straightforward
This was the game of my childhood and I remember all the levels, but the only thing i didn't appreciate of Wii U version is that not all the levels have the same music of Wii version
If there's one thing I wish they kept for the deluxe port, boost rush is obviously one but also the blue in the logo and world map info. It just fits in with the rest of the art style more than the deluxe's white and gold does, at least for me

Actually the Wii U Version was better than the Switch Version but one reason it was because of the Voice Acting

It's my 2nd favourite 2d Mario, love the amazing graphics, slightly unique plot, the levels and perfect controls. The New Super Mario Bros games are so underrated, they're controversially my favourite 2d games. 👍

How wonderful they are releasing this game and Luigi on the Switch. I cannot wait!! I wish they would import all the Wii U games to the Switch. This game reminds me of SMB3 and SMW. The first title on the Wii was a classic. Even Super MARIO All star ⭐️ was awesome!!

Well, I took a lot of training on Super Mario Bros. after these play throughs on this site. I mastered it instantly without taking damage mostly especially not taking damage when confronting Bowser and kicking his butt.

Absolutely. This is arguably the best 2d mario imo.
Agreed. Older gamers mark it off as a childish or easy game and honestly that couldn't be farther from the truth. Easily the best 2D Mario title and possibly the best 2D platformer. I'm still surprised it's so overlooked by fans of any genre. I'd love a sequel with a slightly new art style and new themes like candy, rainbow, horror, and autumn with a new plot. It could be really successful if it's marketed better.
@@JJ-zo7jv yeah, I think it should follow rayman 1’s example when it comes to level theming. Mario’s already proven himself to have rather abstract logic so why not go all the way with very unrealistic themes like rayman 1 did with band land and picture city? The galaxy games have already had ideas in that fashion.

I love this game to death, both the vanilla stuff and the rom hacking stuff, but i certainly do not think it is the best 2D platformer.
And i don't think that because of the whole "ThEmES oF wOrLdz" bs (although to be fair, i am kinda tired of most of the themes), it's because even if the game is so good, there are signs of it being rushed;
Think about it, decorations seem to be lacking, some star coins are questionable (looking at 2-4's random hidden block, a classic), and some levels feel like they could've been excecuted better. Another thing to support this theory is how every other NSMB game had a theme, but this one does not (the closest thing to that is an enemy and a power up):
NSMBDS it's justofied by the fact that it's the first game of the franchise, although it did have the whole "mega and mini" theme going on, even if small
NSMBWII introduced multiplayer AND was designed for it.
NSMB2 had the coin gimmick, marked the return of the super leaf and even had a golden flower.
But NSMBU has, maybe mini Yoshis?
Also, pretty minor, but i feel like NSMBU is the most artificial of the NSMB games. It feels a lot more of a well designed course than a place, which can be good but here it is pretty unbalanced, pretty much because of the aforementioned lack of decorations and some rushed aspects of it.
But in the end, eh idc it's a good and fun game, as long as it's entertaing i'm fine with it. Just can't wait to see if the next NSMB game will be better than this one (at least on level design)
I love the WiiU version because is has a fifth player, the WiiU gamepad helps the other 4 players with adding colorful boxes on screen so they can jump on it and reach the other side!

I love how by the books the plot is everytime, its such a simple and fun story that never gets old and they never try to complicate it or add depth cuz it doesnt need it, if they did i wouldn't play mario again it should be dumb, fun and straightforward

If there's one thing I wish they kept for the deluxe port, boost rush is obviously one but also the blue in the logo and world map info. It just fits in with the rest of the art style more than the deluxe's white and gold does, at least for me
I wanted Nintendo to make a new Mario game in 2d, not a reimagination of super Mario bros, because they use the same engine and it looks similar.
I remember i watched this same video from 7 to 9 years and i never watched the levels, i just skipped to the credits cause i thought they looked cool and i love the music,so i would watch multiple times the credits every day! From 7 to 9 years i spent my days doing that.
It really brings nostalgia...
